Today it is a Saturday yes, what should be the most busy and packed day at AnimeNYC. Most of our missions and goals have been already done for this trip/convention already so it’s basically our last time here as we will be skipping Sunday and doing other things, but aside from that, let’s see how today went.
Same time again wake up, slightly different walk to the venue but not by much. In the 4 years since coming to this con, this area has always been under various states of repair and construction.
In what has become a tradition for like 3 years now like Russ and Daughters, we start the day again with a bagel at Finn’s Bagels.
This place is just so convenient and close to the venue on the way to the hotel it can’t be beat.
As expected, busy with con goers and also locals/tourists.
Gotta get some of that classic bacon eng and cheese, but this time tried using onion bagel. Solid shit, good stuff.
My sister decided to get the turkey BLT club sandwich with avocados and cheese on everything bagel. We shared each half and i’d say in terms of value this is really good, it’s the same cost of my breakfast bagel but you get so much more shit and ingredients from it. Overall very good too.
Javits looking good today this morning, no rain so far which has been great compared to the last few days.
Line up in the tunnel thing, I see alot more people with just say only badges compared to fri/Thursday understandably and you can tell there is more people here.
They opened the doors at like 10:15am which again was a bit later than usual, they should improve that you know. I see this interesting group of umamusame cosplayers, jokes. Why are you sitting already? You guys just got inside?
My sister and I decided to split and do our own thing today before things got to crowded/busy so for me it was to check out the booth that was right beside the hololive booth filled with light novels and some other manga books from jnovels.
Looking for some nice paper freebies of a particular series and just picking up other shit too, it can be seen easily
Mission complete I guess, wasn’t hard at all. I got several copies of said bookmarks and the booklet since why not, same for some other shit too.
There was a line forming at the booth to spin a wheel to get some free shit too. My roll ended on system cheat, hmm..
All of the free shit I got from the booth. The card is what I got from landing on system cheat I think? Or what is re-imagined? Either way, looks like I finally found out where Sung Jin-woo has been all this time. He finally made his way back from being left behind on the Alaska cruise and was re-incarnated into a aura farmer and made into a card. Wow.
It’s not very common for some reason they has some special convention prices of some of their books being shilled. No, they did not have anything bookworm related at all here or for sale, no volumes or books or otherwise.
The outpost for the yostar goods is small but had lots of stuff being sold from all their published games. The people selling here are not really yostar themselves but probably an affiliate or import partner shop Lumino, hence they dont’ have anything booth fancy here, it’s just a store.
Wonder if anyone would want to buy this big miku here?
People say this show it good, cali from hololive has an opening song done for this show but it’s not for me I think, saw one ep and was like nah.
Nikke booth in general was quite small, not real cosplayers or anything to get free, just a glorified store but at least they have nice wall art.
This booth was promoting a new game that has not been released yet called Silver palace. If you pre-register and sign up/follow their social twitter they give you some free shit, some nice bag and other stuff. Of course I did it.
They had a professional cosplayer talking photos in the front of the booth to help gain attention, nice clothes indeed.
I remember this company Avios selling hololive branded earbuds, they had a huge booth in previous years but now they just occupy a small ass one. Wonder why? Guess they figured it was a waste of money just for the kind of goods they were shilling.
I mean, it’s cool and all but I don’t think anyone is going to be buying these immediately, especially if they are too expensive. Nice tho.
Boondocks gets an anime pass I guess especially here in NYC.
Rugs on walls and they become tapestries. Looks like that vendor is also a follower of the lost Sung Jin-woo as well.
Custom lego pieces, nice but not quite anime enough in my opinion.
I was trying to browse the exhibt/vendors and forgot that just like some cons, some artists don’t give a shit and just straight up buy a booth here to if they don’t get artists alley table. Not bad tho.
Funny how the same group of umamusame cosplayers are here now too, I am behind them again, jokes.
Perhaps I am semi blind but the chinese gayboi LADS is not as prominent in this convention, there is stuff but it’s spread out a lot more I think.
Nice style but not really for me.
I bump into the same umamusame group again but someone finally asked them for a photo together. I was like, man, I saw these guys like 5 times already his morning, might as well take a photo of them in the pose since they have stopped too.
A bit odd for fudge being here but I have seen worse shit being sold in other cons, like candles and shit.
Alot of clothing vendors were having promo videos of their merch/store being done by pros for some reason, I guess for ads/promotion in general. Interesting.
Return back to hololive booth, late but it’s ok since I don’t care as much about the talents on now. What’s the cosplay guy in front? Looks like either fist of the north star like or maybe kamen rider shit maybe cowboy? Not sure.
Hololive ID talents Ollie an Iofi were doing a QA session with those on the booth floor, not singing so yea, not much to get hyped about. I got here with the last 15-20 mins left before it was over.
Based on the crowd, these ID talents don’t get much love or popularity compared to EN/JP talents, even though they all can speak English fluently. There are a lot of factors involved but they just are not as popular despite all ID talents speaking English and for some full JP fluency. I was standing in from of a couple of bros and they were talking about them too, one was a holo fan while the other not that familar and it didn’t comprehend to him how a ID talent can speak English. “Ollie is in EN right?”, “No man, she’s ID, they can all speak English tho.”, “Then why are they speaking English now? Aren’t they asian-ish.”, “They can speak both and sometimes Japanese.”, “Then why are they labelled ID?” It’s hard sometimes for some folks I guess that people can be multi-lingual.
Ollie and Iofi panel proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Smaller crowd but what can you do.
I do not know what this was but it was popular enough. Some people were looking for it I think.
Yen press I think had a deal on some of their new manga that have recent or currently airing adaptations, nice deal I guess. I took a peak at the young ladies don’t play fighting games book to see if Street fighter was the actual reference/game they played in the original manga. It was not, they made up a brand new fighting game in the context of the manga, a not street fighter if you will. It’s funny then how in the anime they got full on sponsors/got the go ahead from Capcom for it to be changed/adjusted to be SF6, hmm interesting.
Chainsmoker cat is apparently a popular show. I watched the first ep and the animation quality is quite good. I haven’t watched more since but we’ll see.
Mistress Kanon is a nice dumb show to watch, the main girl is voiced by the same voice actor as Kaguya love is war, this show is basically demon version of Kaguya love is war but generally much worse and one sided, still watch tho.
Kaya-chan isn’t scary is a sleeper good show that aired early in the year, it was pretty entertaining horror comedy drama thing.
Hm when is studio ghibli fest 2026 gonna go on?
Went to the upstairs river pavillions to see what’s the cosplay going on right now. I don’t see any trends at all?
If this is a naruto cosplay meetup this is kinda sad.
Some Japanese folks were trying to interview some yugi cosplayer who was white, interesting.
From this space aura farm above looking down on the main exhibt hall.
On my way out from here and see some weird cosplay combinations. You know, just because your black doesn’t mean you have to be piccolo bro.
Javits looking good with lots of people about.
Bad photo on the move but Abba from guilty gear strive. They are around.
Cannot confirm but I think these are sad love live cosplayers, sad that their franchise has essentially abandoned them in the western market.
Excellent Lady cosplay from Devil May Cry 3, the real Lady unlike the bitch they created in the Netflix ruin animated series. They dun fucked up so bad I can not believe how dirty they did to DMC. There was alot of cosplayers around for DMC this year too, but most/if not all were using proper designs from the games, not the train wreck disgraced shit from Netflix.
Princess and the frog I guess? Only in NYC I think.
When down to the gaming area to see what they are about again this time. Seems more crowded and more stuff to do tho.
Gaming area is basically also a artist .2 area where some booths are also artists just shilling their stuff as well. Ended up buying a keychain from this guy here, good hololive ones I haven’t seen before personally.
Saw this artist here before last year, just happy to be here I guess again.
Some sweaty DBZ fighting matches going on, black rule DBZ without question, they own it.
Marvan Tokan just came out a couple weeks ago so most of the consoles being played had Tokan on.
They only had one setup for Guilty Gear strive tho but it still had alot of attention which is nice to see still.
OG fan, respect, the prince has become a king in NYC.
Nice art, saw from EVO from a few years back. I had to check my old merch posts to see if I had brought from them before. I did. Good thing I didnn’t buy the same thing again, I mean part of why I make these posts is so I can help remember/document what I brought at cons and places.
Twinkle start spirits neo geo oh shit battle. Good shit, emulator times reborn.
Initial D is forever legend.
Legit UFO catcher machine here is cool too, probably expensive tho to use.
Art is simple but quite good, too expensive tho for what they are asking for it even with deal.
The place offers checked luggage/holding space for people’s bags and shit. This is good for people who want to buy alot of shit but dont’ want to go back to hotel and or home to drop things offs. Not sure what the service costs tho.
Return to holo booth for the next panel/event. Lots of people have already camped their spot like even 15-30min already I think. At this time my sister and I reunited again after doing our own thing this morning.
The crowd for Kronii and Raora was quite large, aka PizzaTime and this was supposed to be a kararoke session so nice pen lights and songs were had.
But good lord the songs they choose were very long and varying tiring for some reason to pen light for, no rest in between songs too, so everyone was just nno-stop waving for like 1hr and standing in the same spot. Extremely stamina draining, fun but still, I wish they chose more hype short songs instead of long ass slow ones to fill the time. Ahwell.
Kronii and Raora karaoke event proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Very popular with lots of folks here.
This goddess cosplay is also a Kronii cosplayer, it’s one of her alternate costumes she had like last year, still good today.
In the main hall where you get around, there was a circle contest of sorts of who can do the most pushups, especially if you were a swole cosplayer. We had like Goku and shit doing pushups against other shonen characters, it was an unique sight to behold really.
Around this time the Kagurabachi preview screening was supposed to be held but we missed the reservation period because damn, we were on a boat cruise with shit internet. They said they had a overflow wait line, but as per usual, that was a lie and they said it was immediately capped, I did not see another line for overflow so as far as I am concerned, there was none.
Having failed at getting into the screen we decided to sit down and explore a bit where other smaller scale panels were being held. I honestly never went to this area before and I kinda like it. It’s so empty and cool, with lots of sitting space for people to chill and rest if they wanted. Nice.
After doing some minor exploration looking for a hololive reseller merch booth my sister saw, I also saw this table, A vtuber/character designed by Namie, the former talent known as Sana from hololive EN. Interesting, I mean, she wanted to pursue her art career more but it’s still a bit strange nonetheless.
The giant percila chibi was getting a cleanup from staff and the cosplayer, they were brushing the fur/fabric in a specific direction. Maybe it seems like some dirt or it fell down, kinda jokes.
Back again at the holo booth waiting for the next event. Today has 4 hololive events/panels going on at the booth so yea, the majority of the day is just spent waiting and watching this space, I have no complaints lol. This is the main reason also why I come to this convention.
Even tho they did a panel yesterday promotion the new mobile music game, Fuwomoco are here again to do a kararoke session at the con floor. Everyone is hype, they are so good at what they do.
At the end of their event, they sing 6 songs ending with their own original song. Good shit. Probably the best kararoke session outside of the paid concert one we had Friday night yesterday. Good shit.
Fuwamoco today’s karaoke proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Fuwamoco are so good, they always bring the hype songs and energy.
After the fuwamoco show, my sister found the merch booth she told me about and brought me to it. AH yes, I remember these guys, they had lots of hololive and Umamusame merch to resell, I remember from last year.
This entire store was quite busy at all times it seems due to the influx of both holo and uma fans, sometimes both since they overlap significantly such as myself.
They had so much uma merch and small things they decided to put all the small shit together in a table and be like, pick any 3 things in here for $40. You can bet your ass people brought and spent alot of time here. Nice cosplayers of uma still in love and TM Opera O doing the search and find thing too. One guy i heard saying, well I am back here again, spending too much time here, jokes.
Much like last year, they also had limited autographed items from holo talents. You normally get these from limited birthday/anniversary special event merch sets from talents if they want to sign things, but these guys have brought lots and are putting them up for resell. It’s kinda bad but at the same time, offers a way for some fans to get older stuff they might have missed. LIke as expected, graduated talents items/autographs goes for waayy more since their will never be any more signed obviously.
After shopping a bit more decided to check out the industry booths again since I missed some. Blue lock huh.
Slime king. This show could technically end after the first or second season, I can’t believe it’s still going with a Season 4.
What I saw from steel ball run early episode was great, too bad I had to wait like 9 months later to see the series continue in next episode.
Million app I think is a manga app shilled by many popular magazines.
Booth setup is nice and showed popular frames and characters/stories that are hot right now.
Had no idea Boruto was still going on. What the hell happened to this boi? One eye? Katana? Guess he chose the way of the samurai/blade instead of being a ninja like his dad or something I have no idea lol.
I am not sure but this wall illustration art is really cool.
Preview photos of upcoming figures from furyu. They make prize figures but are trying to make more scale like quality figures. They look ok like this chainsaw man Reze.
This store used to sell old/retro music and videos but they apparently expanded to sell old games/anime goods and other visual novel stuff.
Fate stuff. Some of these games while old sell for more than usual like Melty Blood for ps2 even JP edition. While other shit like FGO ps2 only $29. Hm, probably slightly damaged too is why as well.
Even bonus goods you normally get from some limited edition goods box sets are sold here. Damn, feel old looking at this as this hyperdimensional noire game I brought for the Vita but never got a pre order book like this, brought. I never finished the game cause it’s shit but I love the cover/box art.
Some old visual novel stuff. I know most of these. Notice that there is alot fo empty spaces, looks like lots of shit got sold already as this was near the end of the day.
Uggh looking at these boxes makes me feel sad and old, not just because ps3/ps4 is considered retro but because most of the Neptune games I have and paid full price for when EN translated, their JP original equivalents are selling for nothing, $15 and shit? Damn. I made a comment and some guy beside me said that the prices are also probably affected by popularity, the more popular the most expensive some shit may be, dead franchise/unpopular? Selling for less than most meals at this convention JP food area. Noooo.
Original JP Cinderella gray manga, looks cool for a souvenir but selling probably retail honestly. This store also sold old penlights from special idol/love live events. Damn, $17 for some old love live concert? When you buy them new they are like $35-45 at least, fukkk lol. Just goes to show that collectables most of the time don’t mean much in terms of long term value.
On the other hand, when we left the store another vendor was selling pokemon cards like this. Damn, what the hell is this shit? 3k for a card? Crazy shit man crazy shit.
There was a handful of adult 18+ vendors like J18 and also Fakku still seen here. Just like in previous years their presence is small compared to anime expo and have no special shit but it’s still good to see that adult content has a presence here and is not really sectioned off like they often try to do in other cons like AN/AX.
Some new vtuber company where the talents haven’t even devuted get setup a booth to shill them. They had a free gacha machine to get some merch of the not yet existing talents which is kinda jokes, My sister said that they started at first to have peoplesub to their youtube channel to do it but they gave up and just had everyone do it anyways whatever lol.
I have no idea who this is but maybe one day when she blows up as a vtuber it will be worth something more than free.
Ironmouses booth had her friends like Henya live doing some shit. Not too many people here since it was near the end of the con but yea, it was really well made.
I do not know any of these bitches outside of iron mouse lol.
Proof of existence, ironmouse what edition I have no idea why.
Gacha balls for vtubers I have no idea about. When vshojo collapsed this past year ironmouse didn’t really suffer at all so as an indie she’s doing just fine/great. I can’t say the same for all these other girls tho, I have no idea other than mint. Who is spending gacha on these when the only one worth really is Ironmouse/mint in my opinion?
We are degenerate vessel collectors so we went back to complete the collection of fruit juice containers.
Sister got the Kyoho grape that I had and I got the pineapple, there is a button on the button that makes it sparke and flash, damn super gimicck jokes.
The last event at the hololive booth today is Fubuki, Ayame and Mio doing a panel/Kararoke session. Was like 12-15 min late but still ok I guess.
Outside of one missed yesterday, I went to every hololive event at the booth that they had. The audience was hyped because the talents here are considered A tier maybe even S for Fubuki on the left in terms of JP talents overall.
Despite the language barrier it was a great session with good songs, they also sang secret base for their last song which is kind of a bummer since fuwamoco also sang it earlier so yea, shit happens like that I guess.
The last hololive event panel at the holo booth, proof of existence by Fubuki, Ayname and Mio. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us?
Overall a great last show for the hololive booth for today. For tomorrow there is no more hololive talents that will appear at the booth, only holostars so for many as far as they are concerned, there is no point in going again on Sunday, when no hololive proper talents will appear. For me and many others I think, this is the end of the convention for us at AnimeNYC.
Leaving the Javits center for the last time on this trip. Good con this year for hololive focused peeps, needs a more work however on industry guests communication and panel/autograph shit however. Hope things get better not worse as this place is great.
With our convention days over for this trip we go back to the hotel to drop off some stuff and de-Happi/de-anime to some degree. It’s the subay now and it’s time for Pizza Journey to begin.
Lots of peeps from the con are just around too in cosplay, which is cool.
Nice women with Fakku bag and others in the scene too.
We go south to the Bleecker street area and Carmine street. We pass Joe’s pizza, famous for spider man and being the most base nyc pizza slice. I had this on my first trip to NYC and it is pretty base solid but that is not why we are here tonight.
Bleecker street pizza is considered by many and influencers the best pizza in NYC or at least Manhattan. The NYC youtuber I watch for info shills this place hard saying it’s his favorite/best pizza in the city. Lets put that to the test.
Inside it feels like a home neighborhood spot for locals but the people buying are a combo of tourist and others. Interesting.
Wall of photos considered famous people who vistied. My youtube guy is also on here, Jon Barr, they know him here lol.
Their selection of slices and pies are quite diverse. I was thinking it would be more traditional like Vitos but they have some crazy shit on here too like Hawaiian even wow.
A table was available as soon enough got our slices, both roughly 5-6 dollars each. Nonna Maria slice and the bacon chicken ranch my sister choose. Apparently people ahead of us were picking that slice too, very American nontraditional but let’s see. Wow, they are both excellent slices, even the ranch one, which my sister said is her favorite slice thus far this trip. I say, this may be the best pizza I had in NYC overall, it’s just very well rounded and can do no wrong.
Proof of existnce, social media Jon Barr photo point edition.
Our next stop is to check out these fancy ass Italian sandwiches from this shop coming from Florence called All’Antico Vinaco. This place is supposed to be the shit in Italy, let’s see if it’s as good as they say it is in Italy.
We order the La Flavosua, the top left item on the menu since hype videos have said that is the one you should have. Also asked to cut in half because yea, sharing.
It was near closing time so they were packing up so the freshness of the bread may be questionable but let’s see. This sticker is the owner of this chain in Italy and elsewhere and is apparently a popular influencer now. This shop is the model in which other fancy Italian sandwich shops strive for, like Vero in Toronto to my understanding are trying to match/emulate in success.
Not long and your sandwich arrives. We sit outside cause they are cleaning up preparing to close inside.
La Favalsoa comes with salami, spicy eggplant and some kinda of cheese/artichoke spread.
At first glance it’s like a normal sandwich but the quality of this shit is very good. The salami is probably the best i’ve ever had to be honest, very high quality and tasty with a deep rich fatty flavor, like aged, no waxy or nitrate tastes, only natural fatty good meat that melts in your mouth. The spread is good and compliments the meat so does the eggplant which is surprising since I dont’ really like eggplants to begin with, it goes very well to balance the richness of everything. The bread is very good, it’s crispy and soft to chew, not hard and complients the high quality ingredients and salami. It think the bread could be more fresh tho, since it was not piping hot or warm at all. Considering it was like less than half hour before they closed, it’s understandable but imagine if it was super fresh? That would elevate the bread much higher. Overall this was a very outstanding Italian sandwhich and honestly, worth the hype, it lives up to it’s fame but is it worth it? I dunno, $21 USD is very expensive considering the avg slice is $1.50 to $5 in NYC. It’s worth it yes but it’s not something you would have everyday or even once a month, maybe a couple times in a year. Good shit, worth the travel to find it.
This women sitting beside us was Italian and drinking wine with her sandwhich, shits too real, getting a taste of real from back home. The store manager I think was Italian real too, so that cool. Worth a visit, even better still if the bread is fresh.
Our second pizza tonight is Mamma’s Too pizza, a place that specializes in square slices and unique/hipster pizza ideas.
Inside was super packed, they had a second guy standing there also helping to take orders because it was so busy wow.
They had a large selection of square slices and fancy idea pizzas going on too wow.
Once you order pay you just have to wait til they call your name, which is the longest/hardest part. There is no real room inside to eat so most take out or just camp for a space.
We eventually get our two square slices. To the left is the Caio e pepe and on the right is a poached pear pizza. My honest thoughts were damn, these are not the pizzas I am used to. They are very unique, almost too unique to the point where I may not even consider these pizzas. Neither of the slices we chose had tomato sauce so I kind of regret not choosing a more traditional style of slice. The cheese one was good but very greasy, it was like a elevated pizza hut/little ceasrs pan pizza but it lacked salt in my opinoin, whiel the bread dough is light and fluffy, I think I prefer thin crust pizza more in general. The poached pear slice to me felt like a pie for dessert. It’s good but it’s not a pizza for me, for a main meal. My sister on the other hand, really liked the poached pear because it was like a dessert so I dunno, we have reverse opinions on this place so ya.
Our final spot for pizza is L’industrie, a more artisanal pizza place which has been compared to as an elevated Joe’s pizza. There is a line outside the spot where you can wait and look at the menu before you order.
Interesting stuff, this places main thing is their Burrato slice so we’ll get at least one of those.
Once your order is placed, you go inside and just wait for your named to be called. The vibe is nice, trying to be hipster and artisanal.
We are kinda full at this time so decided to take out and take it back to us but before that we had a bite of each while fresh outside. My initial thought was this, hm, this pizza is good but it’s not great. The slice matches the profile of indeed a Joe’s slice but better, but the dough/underside being more charred than usual. The barrata cheese they add to that slice is good but in my opinion is not salty enough I dunno, maybe’s it’s just me. The slices itself are extremely thin which is good so meant to fold. The second slice we got is the New Yorker, with sausage, pepperoni and ricotta cheese/basil. That since imo is far better than the hyped barrata slice as the ingredients are quite high quality and quite spicy. However, the general feel we got was mixed. While I liked it, I don’t think it was the best pizza I had in NYC, overhyped, it’s an elevated Joe’s pizza which to me is kinda a mid pizza just better than most dollar pizza slices. My sister on the other hand absolutely hated L’industry slices, saying that it was burnt and the intended char was inedible. I have heard people online talk bout this too, if you like your pizza crispy with some char/brunt underneath you’ll love it, if not, you will hate it. I like char but I do think it was cooked just a little too long as the char is a key flavor in this pizza’s taste profile. I dunno, I thought it was ok but I think my sister says this is the worst pizza she’s had on this NYC trip, lower than the dollar slices we had at 2Bros lol. Opinions man, they differ.
After getting slightly lost in another station we are on track back to our hotel with pizza in hand to finish later. Even after eating it cold, our opinions are roughly the same, but for some reason the barrata started tasting more salty when cold? So I have no idea.
Before hotel back, gotta get some 7 eleven drinks nearby.
Why would anyone buy this in NYC? More expensive and no doubt worst than dollar pizza, jokes.
Ollie and Iofi panel proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Smaller crowd but what can you do.
Kronii and Raora karaoke event proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Very popular with lots of folks here.
Fuwamoco today’s karaoke proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Fuwamoco are so good, they always bring the hype songs and energy.
Yesterday’s Holodori panel/event hosted by karaoke proof of existence. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? Fuwamoco are so good, they always bring the hype songs and energy.
The last hololive event panel at the holo booth, proof of existence by Fubuki, Ayname and Mio. I am in this picture, so is my sister, can you find us? That wraps up our time at AnimeNYC, we will be doing tourist shit Sunday so yea, let’s see how that goes.
