New York Trip 2026 – Day 4

Today is our last full day in NYC and we decided not to go to AnimeNYC on Sunday since hololive is done with their booth panels and there is no longer any events worth of note, with that in mind, we are going to do more bait tourist fare which is something I always don’t mind more of since NYC has so much shit to see and do. Let’s see how today went.

Seems like it rained a bit overnight but we had no idea, looks good. Let’s get to the subway to begin our long day.

A short walk and to Penn station we take a single subway to our first location of the day. I always enjoy subway photos like this, a snapshot in time.

In no time we arrive at our first tourist bait place, the American Museum of Natural History, aka the museum that was the museum in the Night at the Museum movies, yea that one. Oh boi.

I think they have multiple entrances I think but this is the main entry, gotta climb those stairs.

Dinos engaged. We pre-brought the tickets online so line up was minimal, gud shit.

This place is huge so we decided to start on the second floor, which is nearby to another exhibit that we brought tickets for special at this museum. Nice elephants.

Most of the animals in these displays I have never heard of but Bongo sounds like a fake animal.

The quality of the taxidermy and overall displays varies but they do feel cool considering they are just in a glass case. It really does remind me of that call of duty end credit stage where all the npc enemies are there and then come to life for battle.

Part of me thinks they need to be a bit more specific for some displays, like are these African Gorillas or what region/scientific name they are called.

In some transition hallway they have huge photos of interesting insects and bugs, noting if they are endangered and or extinct, which is cool. I hate bugs but looking at them like this is ok.

As this is the second floor, the vibe of a lot of the exhibt feel especially old and dated for some reason. One of the plot points of the night at the museum is that they have to close to do renovations all the time. I understand why now, some areas seem like they haven’t been upgraded in probably decades and it really shows.

Not surprisingly, this area about African or indigenous cultures has some interesting looking figures and artifacts, crazy shit but they look like they have been set once in the 60’s and never touched ever again.

Look at this crazy shit, too bad this dude just like the others gets placed in a solid blue sky background. I hear a comment from some white dad to his kid along the lines of “look at all these guys Jimmy, if they weren’t playing basketball today, they would all be farmers harvesting the land.” ooohh boiii

Damn, what is this shit lol? Crazy ass clothes man. I wonder if this culture even exists anymore in modern times.

Nice figures bro. Just like today and I’m sure it’s the same in ancient and in African cultures, gotta make sure those boobs are well made and prominent on the figures. Human artists depicting naked boobs are all the same and transcend time and culture, regardless if sculpture or painting or otherwise, true dat.

This place has a planetarium and was showing a 20-25min special mini movie, called Encounters in the Milky Way about the creation of the universe and it’s current space trajectory in the future for our galaxy using modern visualization and imagery tech from space telescopes and 3dcg. It’s narrated by Pedro Pascal, so yea, why not.

I think it cost an extra 10-15 dollars on top of the ticket cost to this museum but yea, I haven’t been to a planetarium before so I figured why not. They also have another show in the location but is only 5 min narrated by Liam Neeson and is free but due to time we were unable to see that one unfortunately. You enter the inside from elevators which is interesting.

After a brief holding area, some guy tells you to be careful, this theater gets much more dark than usual and please no cellphones and etc since it’s so dark, it stands out extra bright if you did.

Hm, so a planetarium is basically a fancy way to say a huge screen that is above you huh. Interesting, I’ve seen something close to this before, I am getting serious Sphere vibes from this place like in Los Vegas.

And like the Sphere in Vegas, I think is it necessary to do the super future blade runner stare of blindness light awe. Yea that’s some good shit for sure.

After the show, overall is was quite good, the graphics and visualizations used were quite impressive and I learned quite a lot about our galaxy and universe, essentially how small we are in the vast universal scale of things, that we are literally in a bubble in terms of the cosmic level and that in millions of years our galaxy will eventually collide/merge with other systems most likely the end of everything but who cares since humans as we know it will probably be long gone extinct when that eventually happens.

Exiting of the planetarium and right into the space area gift store lol. While it was short, I did enjoy the movie, I am not sure if picking up a helmet like this makes the most sense tho after what we watched but I guess it does serve for the kids and or the other

Hell yea boi, or rather a yay for my sister, this place got lots of penny machines. Unfortunately for me, so far no collectable coins machines, they really should have them here.

We ventured into this other area which I am not entirely sure is supposed to be emulating. My sister has been to this musuem before with her friends a number of years ago when they visited NYC but she says she never been to this place. Maybe it was under construction or closed, hmm.

On the side of this space they had a whole bunch of other artifacts like bones and fossils, and these jars of see through fish and other creatures. Interesting.

As an educational space, this place would be great for field trips and shit for schools. I can see these steps where kids and shit begin their tour and or meeting place for after they do their assignment.

After a moment of cool architecture, we return to more native figures and shit. These displays for this guy is pretty ghetto, it seems so bad and fake.

This one is a little bit better but I am pretty sure almost nobody is reading the descriptions on these, I sure ain’t lol.

In the classical tradition of depicting boobs by contemporary historians, this native women trying to burn some wood and shit is pretty ghetto, it could be so much better.

We move into even more ancient artifacts and oh boi, this is where good shit begins, funny ass statues and faces, my favorite. These guys are like saying ‘come at me bro’.

This one on the left is probably a women and is like ‘damnnn, or shietttt, oh no you didn’t’ and the one on the right is ‘nah mang’

I believe these are just replicas of the actual site they found of ancient Mexican or south American ruins and shit, good, would be kinda weird just having dead bodies and bones out in the open.

Dis guy saying ‘whyy mangg, it wasn’t me’ or something long those lines. A bit of jabba the hut here.

Looks like a monster that you would beat up in a game, probably to scale so these are like little pot bitches and they would suck to fight but give you lots of gold or something when beaten.

As per ancient tradition, gotta try my best on making those boobs. Looks like this one is saying ‘ha, go get de water mang’

You know these ancient mexican/aztec/mayan figures are op when they start to look like they have samurai armor. I believe these are supposed to be some kind of gods or guardians.

‘You rang my lord’ is what i’m feeling today or perhaps ‘but why tho?’ kinda a bit of both. based.

This giant head one looks like Thanos, so as proof of existence, gotta do that snap for old times sake.

We somehow walk back into another section with more animals and shit. I suppose it’s based on region or something but yea, I think these animal ones are generally much better than the human/culture ones I think.

The background painted for these displays adds so much, they should do something like this for the other human displays too.

Probably some muslim or arab with a fes, we are now back again into the culture human displays, I think this area is labelled Asians or something.

Above each of these displays usually has a label of what they are but for alot of photos I forgot to have it in the photo, ahwell. I think this is was just like turk or arab or something.

This one was I think Hindus or Indians or something. This entire area seems even more dated that usual, looking really look for these displays.

For some sections they had signs warning people/telling them that yea, these particular human/culture exhibits are indeed decades old and reflect a different time when they were originally made, or rather, 19th century euro centric/American worldview and may not be reflective of current times/political correctness. Hm. I see that explains why also I suppose some displays are just hidden, they are in the process of updating them for modern times and or cancelled recently lol.

Having a mock Chinese death photo and incense display shrine wasn’t part of that cultural insensitivity however. Proof of chink chinaman existence, ‘i am in this picture’ edition.

Some Chinese family were walking and looking at some shit and some old dude was like oh ‘I guess your not familiar with this kind of art right?’ The family didn’t really understand what he meant, ‘oh, I thought you didn’t’ know about old Chinese stuff, since Mao destroyed all the ancient cultural artifacts, all this stuff in the 1960’s and 70’s it was the cultural revolution right. I’m surprised you know about this.’ he then gave them a mini lecture about Chinese history of the last century, to Chinese people of all people. Wow, lecturing other people about their own culture. It happens. Sometimes I guess. Old man then offered to take a photo of them in front of this display because why not? lol

In principle this display is kinda interesting, it tries to trace back all of the modern cultural ethnicity of our time back hundreds and thousands of years to their ancient ancestors or whatever they descended from. Hm. hard to really read and understand but cool I guess.

That is until you read the title of this display, uh. I think this is one of those older ‘culturally insensitive’ exhibits they were talking about that needs updating lol.

Not sure what culture this was I think either Indonesia/Malaysia or something maybe but the boobs rendered on this model are decently done, the skin old looking however. SEMAI culture is says on the description. Another fine example of museum naked boob rendering.

Golden Kamuy anime is represented here with Ainu people. I wonder how they watched the manga/anime back in the 70’s when this display was made.

This is pretty much just Asirpa not and some rando. The show is good but it’s so long and too gay at times lol. I hope the anime ends well.

Oh boy, look at the faded red paint of these pillars for Japan and even the font they used for ‘Japan’ talk about dated. This is definitely made in the 50’s or 60’s or at least the last time they renovated this exhibt. So bad and dated.

They had alot of stock figures again but nothing of note just the same low quality as the others minus the naked and boobs. They did however have this strangely modern looking illustration of a samurai, seems pretty bait and super edgelord, looks like straight out of a manga really lol. Look at that glowing blue eye too lol. Perhaps this illustration was more new perhaps, who knows. I am surprised they didn’t have a set of armor either.

Back to more animals and shit. They look ok but the age is starting to easier to see on these displays.

Never heard of a Musk Ox before, i’d call these snow buffalo and call it a day.

Pretty base Grizzly Bear, reminds me of the story that old man in Alaska told us about when his friend went fishing or something and he lived to tell a tale or something.

We decided to go to the first floor, since it seems like all the old shit was on the second and the first floor stuff immediately seems way more polished and renovated. This here being the Hall of biodiversity.

Wow, lots of shit, you know this place is alot newer since they have touch screen displays for more information in front of shit.

Going a bit further in and the space opens up to this big hall with a giant whale in it wow. This place is alot busier than the shit we have been looking at on the second floor, fuck lol, I think we should have gone through the first floor first before going to anything on the second.

The space itself was very cool, lots of displays, screens and shit for fish and whatever, stuff that the older exhibt desperately needs or replacement with.

The ceiling of this place makes it give the illusion that it’s underneath the sea which is great. The big staircase however requires a bit more effort.

They have a movie or screen on display teaching shit about sea creatures and whatever nice.

While this place also has the standard stuffed animals on display, their displays and information have been updated to look more modern and are backlit, easier to read and etc. Wow, what a difference.

Gotta club them baby seals, too bad they didn’t have them on display. But the display itself is really nice looking and modern.

Still on the first floor the next area is the Hall of Human Origins exhibt which shows the evolution of humans from our ancient primate ancestors with fossil and other remains. This place also seemed to be very new and well maintained, modern looking.

In the tradition of museum naked boobs, even ancient planet of the ape like beings are not spared of the boob modeling.

Sup neanderthals bro skeletons. From what I understand, almost all of these skeletons and remains are replicas/casts of the originals, they are not real bones and shit, but they used to be.

I checked an article in 2023 and they said that most of the human remains in the museum are in the process of being replaced with replicas due to ‘cultural sensitivities’ mainly due to the display of black slave and indigenous remains. I mean that makes sense and it would be terrible if someone tried to damage this display and it was the real ones, no point in displaying such a priceless piece in public.

I believe Lucy remains are one of the oldest primate skeletons ever found, 3.2 million years old and proved that primates became bipedal walkers before getting a big brain, nice. The display itself is really cool how they display these replicas.

I dunno, seems kinda racist since all of the photos were labeled with a pantone color code, why pantone color man? Did they pay for this exhibit? Maybe I think.

The next exhibt in the area is meteorites and other space rocks. I like rocks and space shit.

Pretty big rock indeed. But from space.

Wow, jewels from space huh? Not sure if it’s the lighting or they put some light behind them but I like how some of these look like they are glowing, like magic rocks.

Right beside the space rocks they had the exhibit for rocks and minerals, which also seemed to be fairly new and modern looking. Damn, looks cool and shiny.

A rock that sings huh, cool.

The quality of the specimens that they had for these displays were excellent.

When I was a little kid I used to collect rocks so baby me would have really liked this kind of exhibit.

All of these cool fancy rocks seem like shit straight out of a game. Like the material or ore/mineral/gem you need to farm or kill a boss for to make a new weapon or something/for a quest. Magical.

Looks like some energy move or some ability that a game character or anime would use that involves them generating metal or earth.

Looks like some alien crystal creature in star trek or some other sci-fi where non-organic life is a thing, and they take the form of talking minerals, like this giant red crystal. Noice.

We were running out of time because we planned to visit another museum in the afternoon and it is already like 1pm, fuck. This place has like 4 levels and we really only kinda did 1 and 2 in a fast rush so we decided to jump to the fourth floor, to what museums like this are all about, dinosaurs bitch.

Big head and little bitch.

If blastoise/wartortle was real, this would no doubt be his skeleton.

Cycloptic mammoth and some other big boiz.

Probably a rydon or something pokemon.

They have them positioned in fairly interesting poses. I think these are water type.

Proof of existence, T-Rex og king edition; although I think there were other carnivorous dinos bigger than him, it has the strongest cultural impact as ‘the’ dino when people think of dinosaurs. Not bad.

This is what museums are all about, showing to little kids and other dumber people that there were things before they themselves existed, learning about shit that has long since past. Good shit.

Time is tight so we end our tour of the night at the museum museum with dinos, feels about right. We begin walking towards our next place already.

Due to poor navigational skills we end up having to backtrack/walk around the museum entrance again anyway, doh. In the end I think we did a decent job of covering the musuem and seeing things but honestly we rushed so much things, we spent too much time on the old shitty human culture exhibits on the second floor and should have spent more time on the shiny newer first floor to begin with. The Planetarium and Pedro Pascal show was cool, no regrets but this place is huge, it is impossible to cover/see everything in the of 3-4 hours that we gave for it, it really is a full day museum at the least. But time is valuable so we had to go, there is other shit to see in today’s not anime tourist bait day.

The time was like almost 2pm and I haven’t had anything to eat all day, skipped breakfast but my sister had something in the morning at the Starbucks inside our hotel, yea our hotel has a Starbucks and I forgot to document it but yea, it’s a nice perk. Decided to try these overpriced Nathan’s hotdogs, I think the price is like 2 hotdogs for like 15-16 dollars? It is totally scummy overpriced but what can you do? Tourist spot. I’d rather buy scummy overpriced hot dogs upfront than buying from a cart that had no prices on them, which were many. I want to be scammed upfront, not after the fact. One for my sister one for me, were they good? Not really, pretty mid and small but they did have a nice snap but nowhere worth the price we paid. Ah-well, desperate times call for desperate food I suppose.

Said hotdog cart. I mean, among the scam trucks, this was getting the most business because at least they put the prices on the display, others don’t even tell you what you are paying until your order is ready. In a city with $1.50 dollar slices, how can a hotdog be worth $8, mann.

We have to walk across central park to get to where our next destination is. I haven’t been to central park, this is the first time i’ve been here in the four times I have been to NYC so it’s about time I guess.

Pretty city pretty york, there is alot of shit going on in central park, far more than what movies and shit depict I think. They got like gardens and shit going on and multiple trails and routes to take of varying effort for more scenic routes.

In the middle of central park there is like a castle like spot called bediveres castle which is nice for photo taking and shit. See how some princess in a dress is doing her thing here, hm ok.

The view from bedivere’s castle is alright, got a nice view of the park and some of the city.

We walk out of our minor sidetrack and back to the main path and see this view. My sister says this is the plaza hotel, or at least the point where in home alone 2 the bird women aura farmed at the end. I don’t think so, the building checking out is the El Dorado, another building that looks unique. Either way, this women here is aura farming quite good still.

After about half an hour or so crossing central park we finally get back to normal city and civilization walking towards our last bait attraction for today. The way that these trees are cut and the vendors on the left is really nice.

Nice water fountain things covering our destination entrance, cool cool.

And here we are, at The MET, another popular museum but this time focused on art and human made things, instead of animals and shit.

Having used up a lot of stamina and energy crossing central park, I decided to try another hot dog stand. These ones named hot dog king have been shilled by influencers as one of the better hot dogs in the city, mainly due to not being overpriced and well, better than most. We’ll let’s put that to the test.

For $11 flat you can get two hot dogs and a bottle of water. Hm, not bad actually considering that the other place was selling two hot dogs for $16-18 dollars I suppose this is a better deal but not by much. In terms of the quality of the dog, they are actually different, this one is more juicy and flavorful than that Nathan ones but it does not have that snap, which is ok by me. They are still quite small however, the one on the right is mine with ‘everything’ on it for the free toppings since I decided to see what they have, while the pure ketchup is my sister’s one this time. Overall, decent, just price alone it’s better but when there is dollar pizza in this city, this dog is still just mid and pure tourist trap prices still. I suppose NYC just isn’t the place for a good hot dog, I am used to the pure value and quality that we got at home with the blue hot dog trucks for $5 hot dog and fries combo, absolutely supreme quality and value compared to this shit here. Looks like the grass really is greener on the other side, at least in terms of hot dogs. I wanted to try some of the more famed value hot dog places in NYC like Papaya King or Grays Papaya but there isn’t enough time for those side journey’s perhaps another trip back to the area will fix this one day. Ahwell.

After getting my bag slightly wet by sitting too close to the water installations outside we go inside after eating our dog rations into The Met. Wow nice place.

We brought tickets online in advanced but I was unsure how to navigate this place? We are already inside, don’t we have to pay to get inside? Why am I in already then? I asked a info desk person and she said that yea, this lobby area is free to anyone but once you get into one of the wings/sections of the museum, you have to scan the QR code to enter the area. You have to do this every time you go back to the lobby center area and want to visit a new area it seems, which is interesting, something that I am not used it. hmm.

This place is huge with many different halls and exhibits going on again, it’s probably going to be another case of speed running as much as we can since it will be impossible to look at everything, we got here like late, at 3pm and the museum closes at 5pm, we only have 2s hour inside fuck, so we better make use of it so we get to it with some greek shit.

There is alot of sekko boy greek statues and shit around and armor buy my sister says this figure is important since it represents like the beginning of greek shit becoming more realistic or something I think. Proof of important sekkko boi existence.

The halls of this area are filled with classic statues of greek shit, as expected of a good museum.

There is too many greek shit to cover so I’ll make it light, it was alright, better than most but i’ve seen green shit many times already in other musuems like in London and otherwise places so it’s nothing new, just very well done.

The next area was about native south American/Mexican indigenous/ancient Aztec/Inca/Maya art and relics and oh boi their shit is pretty cool. I have no idea what it on top but it’s cool.

These figures and art patterns are so unique and alien, its like saying ‘hohohoho wowowow sisisisi’ yea pretty mexican sounding I think.

Damnnn look at this crazy shit, looks like some gods or something. Can be a boss or something in a game to kill. No wonder people go to museums to get ideas, so they can copy shit like this into their games and movies/shows.

This little bitch figure just screams ‘haarrrvessttttt’ to me, damn gotta kill this one, this creature immediately.

damn pedro what happened to you? ‘nooo seennyorrrr’ noooo eeeee’

Lol damnnnn look at this shit, crazy.

This one looks to modern, this face laughing is like something that I would see today. he’s like saying ‘you fool me once, you won’t fool me again’

Shitttttt what a god unit. Looks like this figure got autism or something, look at that head and body ratio. The desciption says that this is probably a god because he looks retarded, his head is all fucked up with a hat because his brain is too big bursting out and his facial features sucking his thumb is just a ruse, he knows what’s up. What a god damnn.

All of the pieces in this area are pleasing to me and have nice interesting/jokes faces. I enjoy that.

What an absolute unit, reminds me of the kingpin in those new animated spiderverse movies, damn son what the hell happened to you.

I think we are in African stuff now and it certainly is looking pretty freaky with those installations.

These are like 100% going to be enemies in a game, some grunt mobs for sure.

I am not sure what I am looking at but it seems like some freaky humans super long. Once again, some kind of enemy in a game to kill for sure.

This was on the top tip of a boat. I have no idea what’s going on here but it seems like the guy is owning some other guy? freaky.

I think we are in Africa now for sure. Damn look at those long ass pointy boobs, even in ancient times gotta do their best to sculpt it.

Looks like a pig maybe, gotta break it in a game and it will give you rewards.

‘i ryde my horsee yea boiii’ is what this guy is probably saying.

‘friendship ended with jamal, now tchalla is my best friend’ that or if they are women and man ‘dis herr is my bitch’

‘dis herr is my bitch’ or ‘now, we are da bitches’ damnnn.

‘damm sonn just chilll, i’m already ded you can thnk me later’

‘who dat’

After focusing way too much on African figures and statues we move into a more contemporary limited exhibit on the same floor space, called musical bodies, hmm interesting.

I am not entirely sure what this piece is about but it’s still following the ancient tradition of rendering naked boobs, old women edition I suppose.

Hmm, i see where this is going, we are seeing pieces where musical instruments are anthropomorphized into humans and or human body parts. What an interesting theme for an exhibit.

Boobs on bongo drums, can’t escape them even on musical instruments.

Human movement looking like dancing motions art hmm. Cool piece.

Not entirely sure the context on this one but I guess instruments that were designed with human motion in mind or such.

Boobs on drums again and humanoid harp, yep, good theme.

Women is the instrument instead of cello hmm, getting deep here.

Drum set with bones huh, yea that works. The overall exhibit is very contemporary with other interactive pieces and sounds/music things going on but it was overall very well done, the thesis of this exhibt is actually like A+ it’s very creative and unique.

We are running out of time so we pick up the pace, we can’t see most things so just walk them in passing, would have liked to look at this stuff more in-depth but time.

While the ancient greek stuff is impressive at a certain point they all begin to look the same. As someone who has been to many such exhibts this kinda falls into that category.

Move into the more contemporary modern art section. Got some of the Jackson Pollack abstract art going on, one of his many famous pieces. Proof of paint existence, what does it all mean edition.

Right beside the pollock was this nice painting of some trees and shit, extremely detailed, not sure why they put is side by side in this isolated room with just these two paintings.

Thinking things, big brain edition. I don’t think this is the thinker I don’t think.

The museum is divided into huge sections and this area is like western European or something and it begins to look like a typical scene that you would find in any art museum.

As per tradition, all artists gotta draw that naked women and boobs you know, it’s tradition.

Getting a bit more creative with the boobs huh, this time face covered exiting the shower/tub huh, traditionnn.

The MET also has alot of works by Edgar Degas, which his main subject matter was ballerinas as it can be seen.

Alot of his shit is famous and they all have some kind of ballerinas.

His most famous work, “The Dance Class”. looks alright existence

He also made this statue of a ballerina.

And these figures I think. Cool. Perhaps these are the precursors to modern day anime figures maybe. Later in life he hated jews due to some shit in France, yea, too bad.

Whenever there is benches that usually means this is a famous work you should sit down and take it in. That, or there is enough space for a bench so why not.

Got some picasso here, of course of some cubist naked women.

More picasso naked women, gotta draw those abstract boobs you know.

This is another famous painting that I have seen in textbooks, a non-Picasso example of cubism.

A famous work by Renoir, impressionist dude, not bad.

Oh shit it’s those landscapes, another hit from our boi van gogh here at The MET.

Whereever there are works by van gogh you can be sure it will be drawing a crowd. I think his shit is some of the most popular art today in modern times for some reason. I am not entirely sure why but maybe just people like the way is looks?

Proof of something, I am not sure why or who made this painting, but it feels famous to me, so proof of peace existence.

Another famous work by van gogh, more of his crazy ass scenery.

And of course probably one of the most famous of his paintings other than starry night is his own self portrait in here too. Proof of cultured existence, man people really love his shit.

That famous painting called death of Socrates I believe, used in probably every philosophy textbook ever probably.

We were running low on time, we had I think like less than half an hour before the musuem closes and we needed to see one more super bait work that this place is known for. We ignored everything and figured out how to get to the American art works. They have this big area which is also part of the American art which is interesting, hmm.

After some minor navigation troubles because this place is so huge and confusing, we got to our desired bait painting, ‘Washington crossing the delaware’ which from my understanding is not the first one but a reproduction as some later date because the original was lost/destroyed’

Unless I am mistaken this is dat boi benjimin Franklin, ohhh boi.

Give me some of that but y tho feeling. The more you look at this painting the more confusing it gets. What’s with the grapes or nuts I think?

Having seen the bait painting we are trying to make our way out and see whatever we can with the limited time we have left. This is that area all American art nice nice.

This is some Egyptian shit with I can’t remember it’s called. They paired it up with some more modern art which is an interesting idea for an exhibit.

The said more modern art paired with this exhibit. Hmm interesting. They kind of feel like one legged mummies or some shit but it’s not.

My sister was looking for some medieval art tapestry or something, unicorns or something and this was the closest to it but not it. Apparently we asked some guy and he said the unicorn rug is in the MET Cloisters which is a different museum in another part of town so ah-well.

When it was near 5pm the security and museum curators began directing people to get out, we truly were, on our way out.

And so that was The MET, overall an excellent museum filled with a whole bunch of interesting shit for cultural reasons. Once again, we did this museum extremely poorly, I think we only covered like 20-25% of the stuff due to time, as it really does deserve a full day. Proof of existence, everyone is just chilling on the steps of the place, trying to figure out what to do next and next plans, oh boi.

Some dude was making photo prints on the street to sell. I can’t remember the name for this process but it’s a traditional thing where you try the prints in the sun and look like this.

Not bad honestly, can’t do this when it’s rainy or windy however but good for him.

One of the museums that we had originally planned to go to instead of the one in the morning was this, the Guggenheim museum but decided not to because their famous spiral staircase was not accessible due to renovation/installation of a new exhibt so what’s the point. They were charging like half price for entry online because they knew the only reason people come to this art museum is the spiral rotunda and building design. Instead, we just walked to it which wasn’t too far and gazed upon it from a distance. It seemed their gift shop was open and was free so we checked it out.

Inside the gift shop looking up at the spiral rotunda, pretty cool. Too bad that it’s closed to the public till September it said.

Their gift shop items were extremely expensive and overpriced however, while they do have art pieces, the main attraction of this museum is the building itself which is reflective of the merch. Did not buy anything.

We had an abundance of time left before our planned dinner reservation so we somehow ended up in a petco pet shop. My sister going ham on buying shit for her cat.

After the pet store we took our subway back south downtown to korea town for our final dinner in NYC.

Let’s Meat is an all you can eat korean bbq place that was highly rated in the area. There is alot of other korean bbq places here but I chose this one because it seemed casual and not that expensive/fancy with high ratings on google maps. They have two courses, one ‘classic’ ayce for $46.99 and a ‘signature’ type for $52.99 we got the cheaper classic one since the premium one wasn’t that much different.

The inside and decor of the place once we were seated is quite nice and hip, every table has a special disk like grill and a fan for exhaust which is something I haven’t seen before in North America, it’s something I think they have in Japan tho.

They were extremely busy as you can guess with many guests I’m sure coming from AnimeNYC or otherwise.

We ordered our meats and they immediately brought out our side dishes, standard korean bbq fare. The sauces I believe on the left is some kind of gochujang sauce, the middle plain ass salt and the last one is I think soy sauce with tea mix or oil? I asked but I already forgot it was alright. Corn cheese already on the grill in normal fashion.

One of the unique features of this restaurant that I didn’t know about before booking was that it is mandatory that the staff/waiters cook for you. Wow, this is something that I am not used to at all. Our waiter was very diligent in cooking our food for us, I told him that we were not used to others cooking for us in korean bbq places so we were like what? He was like yea, most of the other kbbq places in korea town don’t do this, you have to cook yourself. Hmm interesting. I am not sure if I like people cooking for me however, there are pros and cons.

Before we knew it our ordered meat and even veggies are on the grill sizzling. This grill itself is not what I am used to, as the pan/disk itself is slightly angled towards the left and if you see, there is a little tin foil container to collect the excess grease that drips off, hmm ok. Some other places that I have been have a more elegant solution to this problem but I suppose this still works I guess.

Proof of Lets meat bbq existence, the low effort I do not need to cook myself fat ass edition.

Meat grilling up pretty nice. The dude does everything, he flips the meat moves the meat and cuts it with scissors and when the shit is ready, he pushes it to your side of the grill indicating to you that it’s ready to take.

Feasting ensues. One complaint that my sister said is that for every thing they cook, be it vegetables, meat or etc when it is done the guy always divides the portions 50/50 evenly between the two of us, which is a bit annoying to my sister who said she proffered to choose herself what portions she wanted to eat and what ratios of meat instead of having to eat everything. I thought it was fine.

Chicken, one of the longest cook times of kbbq has been solved in this place because they cut it so thin and they flip it and strirr it up to accelerate the cooking. This is just a flat grill plan so no holes or gaps so you can do this. This here is spicy marinated chicken, pretty good shit. Most of their meat selections you can choose between marinated or not, most of the time I chose marinated if it was available.

Once they finished cooking the chicken, he had the grill replaced with a clean new one and then continued to cook more of the meat we ordered. I think we ordered a total of 3 rounds of meat, which each round having less and less items in the order. By the end, it was just me eating entire orders of meat lol as usual. When you order a meat, they automatically assume the portion based on people at the table, so if you want beef steak, you will get two steaks if your table is two people; I assume if there was 4 people, they will bring 4 steaks for example. Overall I really like Let’s Meat korean BBQ, the service that they had was the most impressive I’ve ever seen for a kbbq restaurant, I mean they have to be when they cook for you and want you to be out since there is a 90 min limit. Our waiter was extremely diligent in cooking, making sure to ask what other things we wanted, like rice, side dishes and etc. There was another guy just dedicated to giving us fresh pitchers of water for all tables and topping off sauces in our tray, we didn’t’ say anything, he just did it, same for napkins, if a napkin was soiled, they took it away and replaced it with a new one asap. In terms of the food and meat, I would say they are ok, it is not the best quality of meat given the price, the marinated meat tasted good but alot of the beef/steaks came just as is, with no marination or even salt/pepper, for those your sauces had to do alot of the heavy lifting in terms of adding more flavor which is a choice I guess. I am torn because the cooking service however, my sister proffered to cook herself because she had more control, I agree to some extent as-well but in a long day of tourist walking and shit, it was nice to have all the work done for you and you can be a fat ass and just order meat and have it cooked for you. The price is ok and the service outstanding, I left them a big tip because for once they actually deserved it. I would definitely come back here again, would recommend if feeling lazy but I still would have liked to cook the meat myself, maybe another time, there is tons of other kbbq in the area.

After we finished our meal, we thought we were done for the day, but there was more shit to explore. Like right beside Let’s meat a new store opened up called Gatcha, which is something of a blind box gashapon arcade internet cafe kind of place hmm.

As it can be seen, ktown in general is a hot spot for people to go to after AnimeNYC, which by now is has ended. Didn’t have enough goods and shits? Come to Ktown and Gatcha store I guess.

The entire building is the store and spans multiple floors. This is very Japanese style for like arcades and stores hmm. This is fully intentional no doubt.

Ground floor is blind boxes and toys because of course.

Got some of those nice crane games that we all love, at least they seem a bit better than the ones we have at home.

This place uses like a card to top up your credits, no coins here. I believe in Japan this is also a thing but it just doesn’t feel right to me, gotta put in those coins while you still can.

Dis shit pretty real, looks like straight out of Japan arcade I think.

While most of their toys were generic, they did have some real prize figures or other goods that kinda seem real maybe. At least they look at lot better than the ones we usually see here at home.

Dammnn, got some creative original ones here too. Some pepe pikachu lol jokes.

In the basement they have arcade games, now it’s really feeling Japan coded lol. I saw a group of dudes walking around aswell exploring that had Ironmouse Staff tshirts on and they said the same thing, this place is very Japan coded indeed. Interesting how ironmouse booth staff also went to this place to, maybe they just finished their meal at let’s meat as well. Full of racing and dance/music games but no fighting games unfortunately.

On another level they had in internet cafe hmm. I am still surprised that still in 2026 internet cafes are still a thing, not sure what’s more surprising, the fact that they still exist or even here they seem to be getting decent business. Maybe it has something to do with people not wanting to be at home and or getting out and or not having enough money to buy a good gaming PC or whatever, hmm.

They had some arcade machines on the internet cafe place too with some people chilling, probably for washroom. They have snacks and shit too. I didn’t notice it at the time but those machines are loaded up with fighting games like neo geo ones and even marvel vs and third strike wow. Must be some custom mame build or something, not badd.

On another floor they have like a drink/snacks and private Karaoke booths but the booths are completely shit. They are not soundproof at all. When we went we could totally hear some group singing their shit from out here. They also had photo booths too on this floor too, very Japan coded.

On the highest floor they had what they called private rooms for internet pc cafes. Basically just single rooms with a pc in them for privacy gaming for those who dont’ like being around others. The doors were transparent glass so it’s not really private but at least quiet from noise and others I guess. We saw a few people inside some using them, awkward I think but sure. Well then, that was quite a bonus mini exploration indeed. I welcome Gatcha, I think this is needed for ktown, especially for days like this after a convention or other shit happening post-event. The prices are expensive and not a replacement for Japan but it reminds me of that feeling, which is cool. Not bad.

Nearby in ktown they also have alot of dessert places. We are fat asses and for some reason we have picked up a habbit of eating ice cream after dinner. This here is a nice place to pick up some cold dessert.

There selection of ice cream and sorbet is quite unique. Lots of familiar flavors but also crazy ass ones that I haven’t heard of before.

On the left is my sister’s choice of some base ass chocolate shit with something else I can’t remember. I got pineapple Thai basil, crazy ass shit man. It’s very unique and different, the basil taste is weird, it acts a bit like mint but I dunno. I am not sure this is a flavor that I would try again to be honest, guess I just like base fruity flavors after all.

Much like last year when I visited, or the year before, they have this time sign full of bait gift shit which is standard. Looks cool tho.

As a major food area and mild tourist place, the place is quite busy at night as expected. Lots of drinks, bubble tea, snacks and desserts in the area a it can be seen.

Nearby there is a huge lineup for this Mixue ice cream drinks shop which from my understanding is super huge in China. They have extremely cheap drinks and icecream which makes it the spot popular for youth and chinaman longing for a taste of home I suppose. If it was not busy I might have tried, but no, not lining up for this shit, we just had expensive ice cream so no.

You would think that we would be done for today but my sister had other plans. I would normally call it a day and go back to the hotel but my sister was possessed with a mission, a mission to go to Traders Joe and buy food shit and get a trendy tote bag because apparently they are like the hottest shit for some reason these past couple of years. So we walked for like another 20 mins out of our way to the nearest Traders Joe, which was about to close in the next half hour to fulfill this crazy ass goal.

I’ve been to Trader Joes before in Boston, but this one looks quite different quite nice in fact. Hmm, I see I guess why people like this place, the one I went to in Boston seemed ghetto and was literally underground this one is swanky clean. What’s with this dude buying a car of some boxes? On sale or something?

Their wall art is fresh, just like their deli meats it seems. We spent the time picking up foodstuffs that we can take back home that we thought were interesting to unique/good. I was concerned that we didn’t have enough room in the luggage or the weight but my sister had no doubt in her mind that we got this. Sure I hope so.

The bags above are not the coveted bags that everyone is looking for, the normal tote bag is what people want. My sister saw that some Filipino family was asking a store worker if they had the tote bags too, and she overheard her say yes, they do, they just have to get them from the back. My sister then went up to the store lady and was like, oh, do you have tote bags? I want one too and she was like sure, I can bring some out. Damn. I can’t believe they are so popular they have to have these bags under lock and key in the back, and not just outright displayed like this as normal people would do. When the time came, the worker went to the back and got us some bags, for us and the Filipino family, as this was happening a few more people came up to her and asked if they can get the coveted tote bags too. She was like errr ok I guess. Damn, gotta prevent hoarding and reselling I guess. Because of the hype I got one too, because why not. The hype bag not seen is here. Online they are selling for like $15 at least, but their actual cost is $5, hmm. My sister said that her friend got her one of these Trader Joe bags and didnt’ think much of it but my dad said it is the best grocery bag he has ever used in his life, he loves that bag. Apparently a similar sentiment arose from others in her friend group who were gifted the bags, they did not believe it was anything, but then were converted, these Trader Joe bags were not just fashionable hip but also amazing good for carrying grocery’s. Well I have one now, so we’ll see about that, put it to the test eventually.

After finishing our bag mission and food stuff expedition at Trader Joes we were like 40 minutes away walking from our hotel since it was like the opposite direction from where we were from Let’s meat. Fuck that, we took the subway back to our hotel, full of bags and food shit.

While it was not needed, I decided to show my sister what Penn station was like inside for the main concourse, very airport like really since it’s a hub connecting many different lines and trains and express things.

It’s also directly connected to Madison Square Garden too I believe, looking nice and lit up. Damn, today was quite a journey. So tiring and shit with so many places visited. No wonder that I can only write this post like a few days after we got back home because man, there is alot of photos and things to comment on. Well, that was our Sunday not-anime tourist bait day, I think it was worth it, the tradeoff being less con time but I think we did everything/saw most things well enough in the prior three days that it was not needed really, seeing more NYC bait things I think was a good tradeoff. Well that ends our last full day in NYC, tomorrow is our return home travel and probably a merch review/final thoughts.
