Ahh. 2018. A fairly shitty and ruinous year indeed. However, I don’t quite think it tops 2017 as there were many good things that happened this past year to counter balance the ruin.
Good things that have happened:
Black Panther was a good movie, Avengers Infinity War was amazing, Canada legalizes weed, got new computer, Maple Leafs are pretty good, signing of John Tavares, Raptors doing pretty good, Raptors get Kawhi Leonard, Aquaman was pretty good, kitchen got renovation, lots of new Asian/Japanese retail stores opening in malls like Muji, Yuwing got married, had good bachelor party for Yuwing, Market Village is finally blown up after 10 years to build the Remington Centre, got more beautiful animu figures, went to Anime Expo brought lots of good shit had good time, saw California, visited boat waifu USS Iowa, kancolle moves over from flash to HTML5, had good experience with Uber in California, many miracles and autograph stories at anime expo, went to kimicon, went to fanexpo, Winter Olympics happened, Soccer World Cup happened, started playing Fate Grand Order, pulled jalter, pulled raikou, pulled ishtar, started playing Azurlane, very lucky in azurlane pulls, watched more netflix stuff, old phone still working, US democrats regain House control, cheaper gas, condo closer to construction, ate good food, ate Jollybee fried chicken, more ebi-fry toys, did not break foot.
Uhhhh…what the fuck? That’s it? Fuck it; never mind it’s totally a ruinous year after all.
Bad things that have happened:
Venom was a shit movie, Wreck it Ralph 2 was disappointing, Solo was shit, Ant Man and Wasp was whatever, ruin of Last Jedi lingers, the fall and rise of Patrick Brown to mayor of Brampton, Doug Ford is elected Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford cancels electric car rebate, Doug Fords reduction of Toronto city council in half, pullback to school sex education, Toronto highest murder rate in years, restriction of retail weed shops up to city none in Markham and other cities outside GTA, lots of produce is contaminated with ecoli romaine lettuce, DeRosen is Traded from Raptors, Toronto FC is shit, Blue Jays are shit, Argos are shit, CAD to JPN exchange rate is shit, firefox is becoming less popular, Chrome UI changes, Facebook social media ruin and corruption of private user data, lack of any real original meme culture and jokes, stagnation of youth culture, youth degeneration and apathy due to ruinous times, ruinous housing market in bubble that will never pop, ruinous rental market that is sky high insane, cost of living increasing everything getting more expensive food, the fact that Fortnite is a thing is ruinous, Fortnite dances, youth culture revolving around stupid ass shit like Supreme brand and other “Hype Beast” gear, Chinese people coming over to Canada wanting to launder money and buy super overpriced houses in Vancouver and Toronto, general increase in Fob culture, Huawei Chinese CFO getting booked, trade tariffs between US and Canada cause of Trump, Brexit is still continuing, Kancolle is dying hardly play anymore little incentive to continue, Shadowverse hardly play anymore only do some dailies and login anymore, quit brave frontier sad, quit RO mobile bullshit game, didn’t really finish any outstanding PS4 games this year, didn’t get to play blazblue cross tag battle even though I brought it at Anime Expo, didn’t get blazblue producer/director autograph on my poster at Anime Expo, didn’t open or display any figures this year cause no point since moving next year, went to kimicon, went to fanexpo, didn’t pull merlin in FGO, wasted tons of gems for bullshit gawain faggot in FGO, did not get saber face saber, did not get Green Heart in Azurlane, kinda stopped playing fighting games because lazy and mobile games take priority, rollover sexual abuse ruin from women MeToo movement from last year continues, TTC continues to be shit, new NAFTA agreement due to Trump bad, GM plant closing in Oshawa, Quiznos near me closes down, buck a beer is a thing because of Doug Ford but I haven’t even been able to see any beer for that cheap yet, Youtube changes and more bullshit rules and regulations on content, general ruin of youtube content and culture, truck terrorism in Toronto killings, rise in extreme far right terrorism and hate speech, no new Gundam anime, Apple releases even more expensive premium products, bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies massively down, new Fallout game is a joke of incomplete bullshit, sad state of affairs for AAA gaming, old Bush died, John McCain died, Jamal Khashoggi is killed in Saudi Arabia conspiracy coverup, creator of spongboob died, Stan Lee died, Mac Miller died, Aretha Franklin died, Anthony Bourdain died, Kate Spade died, Mini Me died, Steven Hawking died, stock markets are extremely erratic and down, Tesla and Elon Musk loosing money and getting insane on crack erratic, discovery of the existence of LoL surprise dolls, spinners are not cool or fashionable anymore, Market village is blown up nothing else there for awhile, kids that got famous on youtube channels, kids eating delicious Tide Pods, company not doing too well again this year at work, massive amounts of people are leaving due to poor management and no raises/bonuses, people getting fired for unknown reasons aura of secretly at work, bad work morale, boys trapped in cave in Thailand and Elon Musk involvement, more school shootings in America, Sears/Toys R Us continues to get ruined in the US bankrupt, google removed View Image button from google images, US government partial shutdown, Blizzard “don’t you have phones” PR nightmare the list goes on. However, if there was one thing that definitively marked this year as one of the worst years in recent memory is…
Trump.
In 2016 it was bad cause of Trump, 2017 was terrible because of Trump, this year isn’t any better and in many ways only showcases the ruinous times that we live in because of Trump. A good hunk of the items I mentioned above are a direct or indirect result of Trump and his policies. The white house in America is in chaos and there is no one willing to do anything about it. There is so much shit on a daily basis about Trump and his outrageous behavior or actions it’s almost impossible to keep up with the news. Once you think a big news story hits, it gets sidelined with an even worst story coming out of the administration, rinse and repeat on a daily basis. What’s worse is that because all of Trump’s shit is so outlandish people have become used to it, have become blind and numb to taking action and just accept it and call it fake news. Crazy bad times man. The fact that Trump’s policy is more or less determined by Fox News and whatever talking heads he is watching is crazy insane shit, fucking people should impeach his ass but they do nothing cause they afraid of their own supporters and only want to further their own political agenda at the cost of dividing the nation and further promoting hate and ignorance. However, there is a ray of hope, the Muller investigation is doing it’s thing. Slowly but surely the walls are closing in on him being booked in some degree or fashion, basically almost every aspect of the trump organization is now being investigated for corruption and collusion with Russia it’s not even funny. Trump’s personal laywer, Micheal Cohen flipped and is co-operating with the investigation, same for the former national security advisor, Micheal Flynn and is doing something of the same. People closest to trump are getting booked by the law from Muller’s investigation and it’s only going to be a matter of time before Trump Jr, and his other children are charged with corruption, obstruction of justice and maybe even treason. The damage from Trump’s policies are so retarded there is just so many things, his insistence on building and getting more “Wall” funding which caused chaos within his own party and resulted in a partial government shutdown and blames it on the Democrats fault is just so bizarre when days ago he proclaimed he would own it is just one of many examples. Trump likes business and economic growth, but hinders growth by puts taxes and tariffs on everything coming into the US, like what the fuck? It doesn’t make any sense and people know it. Causes stock market to be unstable and results in huge losses, setting back the economy to almost a year back. Other countries including Canada don’t like this shit and tarriff America back. Bad. Them farmers are like what the fuck man, you were supposed to help us not fuck us up even more. Tariffs on steel hurt Canada’s industry and the auto industry in general even in the US which is contrary to what he is trying to do. Because US and Trump are so retarded all of the world leaders are taking advantage of the situation and grab for even more power and sphere’s of influence in the world. Putin is like super happy because his plan is working causing chaos and instability to America, China is happy because it shows democracy doesn’t work and gives reason to further suppress and govern Chinese people the communist way, all other allied western countries can’t rely on the US to have it’s back and in many instances run contrary to what they are supposed to do fucking things up and only giving more credit and power to dictator type of leaders. Ruinous.
Goodbye 2018, despite what I wanted to believe was an otherwise alright year because lots of good things happened on a personal level, the sheer weight of terrible ruinous things that have happened in America, Canada and around the world is just too much to counterbalance the good. 2018 was a shit year, probably worst than 2017 by a large margin but because we have gotten so numb to ruin and chaos it strangely doesn’t feel as bad as 2017. Sad. 2019 I think will be a whatever year where Trump only gets wrecked even more, maybe to the point of impeachment but I doubt it, it’ll just be more chaos, stock markets will continue to fall or be erratic, Canadian housing bubble might burst but probably not, food prices will increase, more far right terrorism, more Islamic terrorism, war might start between somewhere. But hay, hopefully my condo will be done and I will finally have my own place which is great; but if not, another bad year is to come.
The seeds of ruin are blossoming.
