Well, 2019 was a hell of a year. Holy shit it was a longgg year in many regards. While 2019 was indeed a ruinous year but also a year of many positives, so in a way it counter balances the bad; it’s nowhere near as bad at 2017 and to a lesser degree 2018:

Bad things that have happened:

Got laid off from last job in Jan 2019, sad times, unemployed for 2 months, sad times, because laid off, had to stop playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 because I couldn’t relax knowing that I was unemployed – have yet to pick the game back up, the realization that I can’t relax if don’t have a job and a steady job/income coming in, had to send resumes looking for jobs, had too many bullshit interviews, waste of time, found new job but was downtown, didn’t go downtown for job in over 8-9 years, can’t drive to work anymore, have to get up earlier and use shit ttc to get to work, new job is on contract basis, had to renew my contract with new company 4 times this year because they are unsure of the future setup of the company, just give me full-time motherfuckers, miss my old co-workers, food downtown is expensive, Quadrigacx got shut down because the owner died/ran away with money, most of my cryptocurrency is lost now and is near worthless, didn’t play any ps4 games this year due to mobile games/finding job/work/life even though i have a pile of games just waiting to be played, guilty gear strive announced with questionable changes to mechanics/simplification of the game, started playing epic seven mobile game –  game that looks beautiful but don’t read any of the story play just for pulling, stopped playing kancolle because shits too hard now, stopped playing shadowverse even though I still login and pull for new expansions still cause i like pulling, couldn’t get ereshregal in fgo, Peter Mayhew, actor of chewbacca died, cool Asian-canadian actor Godfrey Gao died, some kpop idols died, Goo Hara, Sullig, gaming culture is kinda meh/dead, don’t keep up with what’s hot anymore with console games/dead, all just FPS and white people games, Captain Marvel was mediocre could have been way better/kinda shit, Shazam was shit, DC didn’t do much this year, Avengers Infinity Saga is over, sad, didn’t watch any movie during the year after Avengers Endgame except Joker and Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker,  Joker was a medicore boring movie that tries too hard to be edgy, Rise of Skywalker was a suitably acceptable ending of the saga but made it more evident that The Last Jedi was such a shit movie, made me hate Last Jedi even more, didn’t go to any conventions after May, Teacher strikes, more Doug Ford stupid shit, Federal election happened, Trudeau blackface bad shit, same results more or less, same, Youtube changes to be more strict and content is just not fun anymore or flexible everything for the money now, more shootings in the US, Kawhi Leonard left the Raptors, Notre Dame cathedral burned down, Ok Boomer was a thing then it died faster than Supreme Leader Snoke, lots of plane crashes and deaths due to shit boeing 737 max, Iphone 11 Pro is jokes spinner cyclops camera, Game of Thrones final season was shit, Disney brought Fox cinema ushering in a new era of media monopolies, many people quit on youtube, the realization that tick tock is a thing, the realization that post malone exists, the realization that old town road is popular, the discovery of the print magazine called “eliteGen” with a subheading that reads “Luxury Living For Canada’s Chinese Elite”, BTS is still a thing and performed in new years, the end of popular meme culture on the internet, there is no fun anymore to be had, Sonic the hedgehog live action movie trailer, the revelation that kids in highschool are still talking about Naruto, Bleach and DBZ, not even Bortuo or DB Super, DBZ AND Naruto original anime series, the cover of NHL 2020 is Austin Matthews and he looks hideous, New Pokemon game is shit because not all pokemon are in the game and postgame doesn’t really exist, Trump got impeached but nothing will happen, every day Trump does some stupid shit and no one cares anymore, people have become desensitized to news and events which would normally be outrageous, I don’t keep up with news/politics as much anymore because too busy/lazy, the continued growth of intolerance worldwide due to the times, food in general is more expensive, real estate and housing costs are still increasingly stupidly high, watched less anime this year I think, dumb china shit involving china, Hong Kong suppression and protests, bad, Brexit is still a thing and will be done soon, the realization that the way we recycle today is pointless because everything goes to the same dump anyways unless the recycled stuff is correct, shit gets put into the same bin cause no incentive to do so, lots of forest fires everywhere, especially in Australia, US/China trade war still ongoing, Mueller report done and didn’t do shit, coverup by US government, Japanese Yen to CAD exchange rate even worse now, brought few less figures, don’t watch any nico nico douga content anymore unfortunately too lazy, Market village is still long way from being complete, still blown up, Elon Musk on crack with Tesla Cyber Truck, didn’t listen to much metal music this year due to times, Blizzard games is a shadow of it’s former self, poor PR choices, stubbed my pinky toe, might have broken foot/toe again, hurt for a bit, teeth retainer fell off, had to sand down teeth and wire, no money cause of house.

Actually, never mind, it seems like 2019 was just a continuation of the ruin of 2018 which isn’t so bad, but because of the following good things, I think it offset things considerably.

Good things that have happened:

Got laid off but found a new job in February 2019, new job is pretty good, pays considerably more than old job, very rich organization that has lots of money and resources, met new co-workers, cool people and interesting, new bosses are cool and relatively young, new job with business casual dress code, then dress code became “whatever you feel is comfortable” so casual, good shit huge benefit in my eyes, working downtown now so lots of food options to eat, discovered MOS MOS coffee, it’s good shit, can walk inside the Path downtown to get to work, don’t have to go outside at all, keeping up pretty good with Azurlane, getting all of the boats that I want and never missed to complete an event or get a rare boat, keeping up pretty good with FGO, getting alot of luck with pulls for the most part most notably, passionlip, shuten-doji, kiara, tama-lancer, summer nero, summer raiko, summer salter, nero bride, cleopatra, altera, abagail, jack, oh yeah boiiii, keeping up decently with epic seven doing dailies and kinda clearing out shops and shit, pulling characters that I want, got more cool figures, opened some, opened some figures that I held on for over 3-5+ years finally, started using credit card for almost everything, getting dem points, just easier to use then cash, Avengers Endgame was a wonderful suitable ending for the Infinity Saga, preordered Hot Toys Endgame Ironman statue that costs a lot to commemorate 10 years of the cinematic universe and experience, IFF 2019 convention was very enjoyable, got autographs of one of my favorite voice actors, Kana Ueda, unofficial fate fest, met shotgun shogun of youtuber streamer fame, Rise of Skywalker was a suitable ending for the trilogy, got to eat Katsuya, pretty good shit, took family to Brazilian BBQ, brought and ate Adamson BBQ for family,  FUCKING TORONTO RAPTORS WON, FUCK YEA BOI, FINALLY, don’t care that it was a gimme win, a win is a win, attended the raptors parade cause it was so close to downtown where I work, watched game of zones due to ballin raptors, pretty jokes, brought alot of raptors merch and shirts because I don’t give a shit, they may never win again, might aswell buy as much stuff as possible, Blue Jays signed some korean pitcher to the team, sounds jokes cause he’s korean, started watching alot of YouTube and Guda Foods/ Sous Vi Everything, started watching/listening to low-fi chill tunes on youtube, racoon lofi chill tunes saved my life during the early months of 2019 when I was unemployed, watched alot nature/planet earth documentaries to keep clam, started watching MaximillianDood on youtube and enjoyed his Terry’s Legacy KOF lets plays, Atelier Ryza came out and looks like a good game because the girl has been praised as pretty hot with big boobs and thicc thighs, i would have to agree, might play that game eventually because the figure of her looks great, Devil May Cry 5 came out and was well received, will need to play and buy this shit eventually when I’m in the mood, Azurlane PS4 action game going up for pre-order soon, will need to order, scheduled Japan 2020 trip with sister, going to be good I hope, Guilty Gear Strive looks good with cool new character designs, hope it’s going to be good, future of marvel universe is good looking promising, Twilight boy is cast as the next Batman, going to be jokes/good shit either way, Netflix has some good shit now, Disney+ is good, The Mandalorian is a good show, Bianca Andreescu won tennis shit for Canada, Hong Kong fighting against China for freedom/maintained autonomy, Raid on Area 51 one of the few joke meme moments, mad lads, Greta Thunberg is a thing, economy is doing well, Old Town road is a thing because it makes it ok for black people and white people to like the same song/video, Isis is pretty much eliminated, got new TALL BOI plush, Keanu Reeves is mad popular again due to movies and shit, fucking Big Bang Theory finally over, fuck, show should have ended years ago, Enter the Spiderverse animated movie was really good, Mr Rogers mr was apparently very good, need to watch eventually, 25th anniversary of Forest Gump, meatless meat options like beyond burgers are getting to be a thing, solid anime this year, more to come in the future but outside of those things, the best thing that has happened at least for me is…

Condo being completed and moving out.

Fuck yea boi, finally, SHIT finally. After about 4 years since purchasing my pre construction condo unit it’s finally done and I have since moved out on my own as of Dec 2019. I technically gained possession aka the keys to my unit at the start of Nov but realistically I didn’t really fully commit to sleeping, eating and living there untll Dec because I didn’t get a mattress or bed until mid Nov. Furniture in my place is like 70-80% from Ikea with the remaining pieces coming from either the Brick, Bad Boy or elsewhere. I ordered my couch in early October but didn’t’ get it until Dec 23 because it had to be made and shipped from the US, from Mississippi or Georgia, can’t remember what they said but yea, it took a while. Even now as I am writing this my place I would say is still incomplete as I am missing furniture that I would like to have but don’t have yet due to time. I have a lot of shelf and cabinets to proudly display my large collection of anime figures which I have accumulated over the years. It’s a small place but it’s a good place for me, there is fucking freight trains running very frequently at all times of the day and even at night but I’ve gotten used to it by now, some decent ambient noise I suppose. Good location at Kennedy and 401 so close to highway and a relatively short trip away to TTC Kennedy station. So yea, good shit.

Overall, i would say this year is a year of massive change and extremes, both good and bad. While I am still shook that I was laid off early last January, in retrospect maybe it was for the better as my income has increased considerably and I am now living on my own which definitely means I need more money. To be honest, due to the drastic personal changes in my living space and job I haven’t paid much attention to politics and the daily going on in the city and whatnot which I normally do which is regrettable but something that I’ll like to get back to in the coming year. In either case 2019 was a shook year to say the least in youth terms, Trump got impeached, stuff ended, stuff blew up, things happened, success happened, failure happened, hopefully 2020 will be a good year with big things going on such as my Japan Trip with my sister, Japan 2020 Olympics, American election and many other things I have no idea about. Hopefully the shit that is going on right now as of this writing in Iran don’t escalate further to a full scale war of Desert Storm III: Revenge of the Shah. Who knows, maybe some shit worse will happen in China, Hong Kong or another real terrorist attack or some shit. It’s been almost 20 years since 9/11, I guess it’s time for another long drawn out war involving America and another country. Goodbye 2019, you were ok, purely because I have a house now.

The seeds of ruin have blossomed and we don’t really care.
