As I write this recap, or rather assemble this list I realize that the summer season of anime is basically already over and that at the end of the day I was only really following 3 or 4 shows. Because I am lazy and to save time, I’m just going to write comments about the handful of shows that are good and do a one liner regarding the thoughts for all the others lol.
Shows that are good and that I am watching:
Lv1 Maou to One Room Yuusha – This is a good show about a demon lord that has lost his/her power after being defeated by the hero but when the demon lord revives like 10 years later, ends up being like a little midget and kind of a joke. When this happens the demon lord tries to attack the hero but turns out he has become a bum. For some reason or another they end up living together and partake in jokes living. There is some surprising political and social themes at the root of this show but yea, it’s all good. It’s basically Jahy-sama except not because the main demon lord is voiced by the same VA, which I like. Good watch.
Zom 100 – Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto – A good show about a zombie apocalypse in Japan but the main character has been working at a black company for like 3 years and is basically already dead. When the zombie apocalypse does happen and fuck everything up, the only thing he can think of is joy, joy in that he doesn’t have to go to work anymore. He does stupid shit and treats the ruin as if a vacation from his job, not fully comprehending in his slightly retarded mind that not going to work is the least of his worries. The quality of the show is very high and he meets a cast of other interesting characters, such as his best friend, survival girl and other such canon fodder. The goal of the protag is to make a list of all the things he wants to do before he becomes a zombie so yea, that’s the basic premise of the show. It’s a show with an interesting tone and style, good shit.
Mushoku Tensei S2 – Rudeus returns and it’s basically school magic Harry Potter time boi. After a slow start, taking place after the events of S1 with Rudeus still full on being super depressed that basically everyone left him, he does some freelance adventurer shit and lives like a nomad for like a year or so. Also during this time, he realizes he can’t get hard, has erectile dysfunction most likely because of the trauma left from Eris and basically fucks everything up and gets even more depressed. Some shit happens and he gets a Harry Potter like invitation to the same magic school that Roxy when to and yea, here we go lol. Our boi Rudeus is on his way to a school adventure to solve his erectile dysfunction lol. Good shit.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha S2 – After being delayed due to covid for like an entire season or so, Anos Volidgold resumes his story. I am a bit behind and honestly forgot what this season was about but that’s ok, I’ll try to get to finishing this eventually now that it’s started again.
The Rest:
Ayakashi Triangle – lol I have no idea something about yokai and cute girls.
Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha – The main protag is annoying but when he becomes a realist and stops bothering the girl he likes, is only when the tsundere girl begins to take interest in him as he seeks to move on from her after being rejected, ironically.
Okashi na Tensei – Some isekai food little boy I think or farming whatever god next life.
Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta – Go Hands animation on drugs doing this animation for a slice of life comedy romance but wanna be like animatrix and ghost in the shell for no reason with angles and unnecessarily high quality animation for no reason.
Helck – Ugly swole ex-hero who killed the demon lord wants to becomes the next demon lord because he is disillusioned with the corruption and stagnant nature of the human world.
Jidou Hanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu wo Samayou – Literal iseki trash being the main protag being isekied into the fantasy world as a vending machine.
Shiro Seijo to Kuro Bokushi – My cute goddess nun saint can’t be this cute and lazy slice of life cute things but way more boring and slow shit.
Undead Girl Murder Farce – The main cast of characters in this show is some generic boy that is a demon hybrid or something with powers, a battle maid and an immortal vampire lady’s severed head in a cage that the maid carries that talks.
LasTame – Isseki trash, skimmed forgettable.
Seija Musou – Some bullshit I have no idea.
Rurouni Kenshin (2023) – Remake of an anime classic from the 90’s early 2000’s that I never watched but sure, I suppose it’s OK.
Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru – Legend of the spellblade nigga or something; not iseaki fantasy trash.
Dekiru Neko wa Kyou mo Yuuutsu – Sad lonely women can’t find men but lives with a giant cat that basically acts as her husband/boyfriend.
AI no Idenshi – I, robot and bladerunner like anime except main guy is a robot android doctor doing shit for robots and memory, kind of illegal, interesting but seems kinda dated in art style.
Level 1 dakedo Unique Skill de Saikyou desu – Isekai trash where the main boy’s level is so high the Saiyan scouters say he has a power level of 1, when in actuality it’s like over 9999 cause decimals or Y2k or some shit.
Liar Liar – Some school power shit but everyone is a fraud, including the main character and the main girl, who is not really the main girl, just a stand in for the real girl or something.
Horimiya – Piece – Sequel of some sorts covering some stories side stories not covered in the first anime.
TenPuru – The most classic harem formula ever with some guy going to live in some house owned by dead grandma that ends up being occupied by a bunch of cute beautiful girls for some reason.
Ryza no Atelier – Thic anime thighs and thigh gaps from Ryza the alchemist based on the game of the same name, too slow.
Ayaka – Some gay.
Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Senpai no Hanashi – My cute senpai can’t be this short the anime at work, basically working!! but in office setting.
Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita – Isekai bullshit.
Eiyuu Kyoushitsu – “A long time ago, there existed a Demon Lord who terrorized…” yea bullshit.
Genjitsu no Yohane – Sunshine in the Mirror – A strange show that takes the Love Live Sunshine cast and puts them into a fantasy world with magic and shit with resident chunni girl Yohane the main magical girl witch or something, interesting, kinda weird and also pretty desperate attempt to try and make Love Live Sunshine girls relevant in 2023.
Dark Gathering – Small little girl with strange eyes can see ghosts and shit and traps them in dolls because some ghost catching job or something and some retarded idiot as main dude.
As one can see, most of this season is kinda bullshit and mediocre with the exceptions fo those that I have mentioned. Largely forgettable this season which summer anime tends to be sometimes.. Ah-well, can’t be winners every season. Fall season has MF Ghost anime so that’s already something that I am looking forward to.
