And so here we are, the last full day in Vegas; time to do some more exploration of the hotel resorts that we didn’t get around to visiting yet and do some final shopping of goods and whatnot. Let’s see what we ended up doing today.
Despite staying at the Venetian we actually didn’t do a very good job of exploring the resort and it’s casino/shops and other attractions, other than Sphere of course, so we spent a few hours in the morning to do just that. I had seen these auto craps machines and wanted to give it a shot. I have no idea how to play craps but I just pressed some buttons and made bets or something and the dice auto rolled.
I put in $10 and after a couple of bets and me winning, I actually ended up tripling my money and cashing out. Wow lol. For once I actually won money in gambling, even for a game where I had no idea what I was doing, just selecting random shit like snake eyes, all sixes, 2 – 1, 4 – 6 and etc. It was like an advanced version of birthday game at CNE except you can make bets on what the dice will read, and or total up to. Noice.
They had alot of digital auto gambling machines, like this auto blackjack with some live action premade footage for the dealer and such. It’s a bit odd, I would rather have an anime girl shown or illustrated person shown or nothing at all displayed, seemed a bit unnecessary considering it’s all just random number generation.
We went back up to the top of the grand canal shoppes in the Venetian to an area that we didn’t explore yet and saw this nice gino sign. Gotta pose with some Italian gangster hands you know.
Never visited this part of the Venetian till now but they also had those purified air/ flavored air things hmm.
Oh shitttt. Damn, literally outdated. It’s only been 1 day since Biden announced he wouldn’t seek re-election and so much shit was already made for this.
Oh shitttttt. Discounted Biden merch lol.
It was sometime past noon when we decided to get some ghetto Italian lunch, aka this New York style pizza place within the resort.
Just like EVO, pizza slice was roughly $10 each, man. Well at least it tasted pretty good, kinda similar to NYC pizza slices, the bottom was crispy which is good.
My sister got instead a stromboli thing, which is basically a pizza still but just rolled with more bread and with pizza sauce dip, she said it was alright.
After our lunch, we decided to take a cab to Mandalay Bay, one of the southern most hotel resorts on the Vegas strip. It’s theme is loosely based on sea stuff and or amazon/aztec stuff or mexican shit. Inside it’s kind of dark in the casino but other places were much brighter/better/newer looking. Mandalay Bay was the location of EVO for a number of years before they moved it this year to the Vegas convention center, hmm.
Being a water themed hotel, they also have a nice sand beach and pool shit going on, cool.
The Mandalay Bay hotel also hosts a number of conventions, today was no different, some make up convention was going on. They also have some minor attractions like this shark reef aquarium.
It goes without saying that since we were there, we ended up paying for and going through this on-rails aquarium experience. It looks very nice tho, with the Mayan old Mexican rocks and shit.
Proof of existence, rock Mexican snake head edition.
Baller water baller.
Nice jellyfish bros, where is patrick star when you need him.
Look at this bitch, just lazing around doing nothing. Patrick, get your shit together.
There was an area that simulated a sunken ship where you can see sharks and shit from behind glass. It was pretty cool.
Outside of the main exhibt, they also had some VR area where you wander a bit and play touch screen games while waiting for your turn for the VR experience. This 2 player trivia game between my sister and I about your knowledge of sharks and rays illustrate how dumb we are about sea creatures, so bad lol.
They had some selfie walls that make it look like you are touching a shark, noice.
After a brief wait we were allowed into the VR room where we sat on chairs and had to put on these dumb googles.
I took this photo blindly, while wearing the VR googles. VR from the outside looks so stupid man. The video we ‘experienced’ wasn’t even about sharks, it was about some guy and him following whales, so what the fuck? The quality of the video was shit and was just narrated by him too. I mean sure?
We started heading out from Mandalay Bay and we see this nice statue, nice Muhammad Ali.
Look at these bitches. Can they even make good burgers?
Throughout our entire trip in Vegas we see these Fat Tuesday frozen smoothie cocktails being sold, like almost every hotel has them around and finally decided to give it a try.
I got one of their pre-selected combos known as Malibu Vice which contains pina colada and strawberry slush mixed in with Malibu rum. It tasted not bad, pretty good. I don’t drink much but this was nice. Expensive tho, this one regular cup cost $20. They charge the alcohol content after the non-alcoholic ingredients are mixed, which I find interesting.
We see the entrance way to the Luxor, the giant Egyptian pyramid hotel resort. It is connected to Mandalay bay via a shopping concourse. Most of the hotels in this area are owned by MGM Grand, including Mandalay Bay, Excalibur etc.
The inside of the Luxor is pretty nice and gimmicky, filled with Egyptian decor and shit. Noice, you are inside the pyramid right now actually which is cool. We didn’t any pictures of the outside since there was no reason to go outside really, ah well.
I find it somewhat funny that the Luxor hosts what they call the “the strips biggest tease’ show lol. It’s kind of out of place with all of the other attractions and exhibits that they also have.
Such as artifacts from the Titanic and an ‘experience through the tomb of king tut’, not to mention the human bodies deconstructed exhibt.
Carrot Top shares a banner with a strip show besides two Egyptian statues, what a hotel resort.
They had a movator going towards the Excalibur hotel, which is also a MGM grand property.
Here is the first thing that we see that tells us we are in the Excalibur, a gift shop selling medieval themed gifts and toys.
They had some nice dragon themed statues and women fairy things, not bad, for non-anime figures.
Look at this nice shelf of dragon plushies that my sister showed me where she was able to control herself and not buy any of them. (Narrator: that was a lie, she totally failed in the end)
The casino area of the Exclaibur honestly is kind of ghetto looking. It’s like putting in a caricature of what middle ages was like and or was themed as a cartoon version king Arthur’s castle, not good.
Walking outside it’s even more apparent the comical design of this place with the castle architecture they chose, not serious at all; very 90’s really.
MGM Grand runs everything in this region of the strip, so it’s interesting to see us going to the main resort that owns everything else. So many parts of vegas on the strip can only be accessed via this skyway bridge paths.
MGM Grand is the home of David Copperfield and his magic illusionist shit. Nice bust there.
Our standard slots attempt ending with a great success of $0.38 yield, noice.
At the lobby of the MGM Grand and this nice lion status is here, cool. The MGM grand is overall not bad, pretty clean and such but nothing in particular that makes it stand out, I am not even sure if this place has a theme or not, maybe movies? Who knows.
We decided to go off the normal path and take a cab to Chinatown Plaza, just west of the strip for some Asian food, in particular, Korean BBQ at a place called 888 Korean BBQ, nice name right? They had 3 tiers of AYCE, we choose the middle one, only $32.95.
There was a long wait for us to be seated since they used a yelp wait list thing and it would be awhile so we checked out one part of the inside of the plaza. Looks pretty dead and old, noice. The entire plaza is quite big and the majority of it is filled with restaurants, which is cool.
It was extremely hot outside so after walking a bit more we decided to go back to the restaurant and just wait for an opening instead of waiting for a text message from the yelp system.
After waiting roughly for an hour, we finally got a table and we headed towards the area. We saw this mad lad eating alone for one, what a God, he don’t give a shit, he want his KBBQ, just like yakiniku like in Japan.
The grills or plates that they use for cooking at this place is pretty interesting. Very different from what we are used to and it’s actually pretty good. They give you a daikon radish on a chopstick and you use it to clean up the grease and stuck on bits. It’s also angled with a funnel on the right for the greese to drain into some hole build into the grill/table. Cool.
Approval of the setup, it is cool.
We ordered a bunch of items for our first round, they came in a little stand dedicated towards holding our meat, shit that’s a good idea really, don’t crowd the table with shit. We also ordered a pork belly flavor sampling which various sauces, only 1 per table.
They gave us scissors to cut meat into smaller chunks too and they just let us do our thing. The waitress also shows us that we can scrape the burnt bits using the back of some spare wooden chopsticks to keep our grilling plate clean and not nasty/burnt which actually worked. The meat itself was very good, high quality nothing to complain about and all marinated cut very well/tender. We also got a lot of side dishes that you would expect from a KBBQ place, but they also had more rare items like chicken karrage, hotpot sukiyaki hotpot, soups and even poke bowls on the menu along with gyoza and other japanese standard AYCE menu from a sushi place which was interesting.
Overall this KBBQ was very good, it actually exceeded my expectations in every category really, service was excellent, meat was excellent, cooking tools/grill was excellent and the price was excellent too, only $32.95 per person for the middle tier. Considering that the Bacchanal buffet is like $90 per person, damn, this place is a huge bargain, no wonder it has glowing high reviews. Good job 888 KBBQ.
After our meal, we took an UBER back to Caesars Palace for a quick final browse of the shopping area because we didn’t do a good job at all of exploring this place on day 1 so just wanted to make sure. Glad we did because they had alot of statues and shit to see like this arrangement above, noice.
And shit like this, in a huge underground and multi level shopping complex filled with food and other high end shops. Good shit but it was a little late so most of the stores had closed by then, ah well.
After we made our way back walking to the Venetian and called it a day with a final stop at the nearby Walgreens for drinks and such. Today was a busy but kind of chill day, what I’d like to have after a busy last few days in Vegas. good shit. Tomorrow is our flight back to Toronto and we have gotten a few text messages from WestJet about delays and our flight being pushed back, hopefully things are ok but we’ll see.
