Alright, second full day in London, today was supposed to be a chill day since I didn’t really have much planned other than visit the same places but in more depth on day 0 but my sister had other ideas and so what was originally a chill day, became not that chill and we walked and lot and we are pretty tired now, just like day 1. I suppose this always happens but yea, we saw alot today and ate alot of stuff so it was worth it.
In the morning we decided to have breakfast, I noted before on google maps this nice breakfast place very close to our hotel, Victoria House coffee as it had a lot of highly reviewed ratings. I am not sure why but for some reason a lot of Chinese people were queuing outside for a table, like a unusually higher amount than usual. Inside, there were more customers that were Chinese than white folk, even tho the owners I think were brown, but not sure. Guess Chinese people really like the name Victoria for some reason.
Once we got a seat I ordered the full English breakfast it was pretty good shit, all items were very nice, especially the Cumberland sausage, as it tasted like the same used in yesterday’s sasuage roll. Good shit. I think only $15 pounds?
My sister got eggs Benedict because it’s what she likes and it was good she says, roughly the same cost but I think a dollar or so cheaper. Overall the breakfast was pretty good, would go again. The cost is pretty affordable, ignoring British and cad currency conversions but yea, good shit.
Becoming masters of the underground after only 2 days thanks to google maps, we took a subway to our next destination, as planned out by my sister for today. I largely let her take the wheel and drive where to go today, so we’ll see how things go.
And here we are at the end of our underground ride to Waterloo station. It’s quite a big large station indeed with shops and other shit because it also has connecting trains to elsewhere, not just Tube stations. It was very busy as you can imagine.
Among the busy times, they have alot of shops in the station, one of them being M&H, aka Marks and Spencer, one of largest British department food chains that left Canada over 25 or so years ago similar to Loblaws or Bay (rip), but for some reason our mom loves this one particular snack that they only have; shrimp cocktail shells. Ever since they left, my mom has been on a never ending craving for them, even going to England herself several times to get them and asking others to find and bring some back to her. Today is one of those days, as my sister says this is one of today’s missions.
After frantically checking everywhere, I notice the coveted snack on the lower shelf, with relief my sister picks 3 bags full and heads to the check out to buy. There was a slight fear they might be discontinued, but luckily, that proved to be not true; mission accomplished.
We exited the station and after a short walk we were on the other side of the river looking at Big Ben and parliament with a nice new view, noice.
After further walking on the riverbank we get to the London eye. yay, super bait, lots of kids and shit today for some reason. Ok.
I asked some random brown family to take a photo of us after I took a photo of them first. Motherfucker, why do these people can’t take a photo for shit? So bad.
Some time later I asked some white women with kids to also take a photo of this. Motherfucker, what the hell is this shit? Can no one take decent photos? I can’t believe people can’t take decent photos. Do you not know how to zoom bitch? Mann. So bad.
Angered and peoples failure to take decent photos, I take a photo again of Big Ben and parliment my way. Ah yeah boi, shits good. I guess I can take good photos after all. It’s not my camera, it’s good shit, fucking people are retarded and don’t know how to frame or even focus on anything.
Even our own selfie photos with one hand are like exponentially better than that trash that other people seemed to produce for us, man.
Having crossed the Westminster bridge my sister said there was a covid memorial on the other side on the wall. Wow, she was right.
All of these painted hearts on the wall represents people that have died over the covid pandemic since 2020. Wow, pretty interesting.
The hearts go on for I think the full duration of the wall which is pretty long, so yea, we didn’t walk the whole thing. They had this permanent plaque to remember the victims of covid, wow. I wonder if something like this exists in other places in the world.
From this wall we walked to another off the beaten track space with cool street graffiti art known as Leake Street Arches.
Wow, pretty cool that they allow this. The full tunnel is filled with graffiti art from floor to ceiling, apparently this space opens up in lunch and there are restaurants on he walls, it’s just hard to see them.
Very cool indeed, nice crow cent shit on the left.
Feeling kinda hood and gangster in the presence of such nice street art, we start doing selfies and other edge poses, noice.
Oh shit, godly photo. Could be some album or magazine cover. Good shit.
My sister gets in the gangster mood too, baller with the transformer robot art too.
Peak vibes, could be a album cover.
Some pretty elaborate drawings was made here indeed. Noice.
The infamous ‘S’ makes it’s appearance. Scarborough represent in da hood. Rap album, just needs to crop into square.
At least some graffiti artists have culture, miku.
Wow, so much shit going on here I don’t even know.
NPC wave re-engaged. This place is cool yea. I can expect it to be even cooler when all the restaurants are open and at night. Cool.
We had another mission in hand, as directed by my sister, that is, go to that good Italian restaurant that she went to on her first trip to London, but not even. Looks like it’s a success.
A fondly remembered experience is reignited once again, the locale, something like 7-8 years ago, the long awaited return. This is for you mamaaa.
I got their main red based sauce with fresh pasta, it was pretty good, better than average but at least for me, it’s still just pasta, just better.
My sister got the carbonara, with real pancetta, none of this bullshit bacon used. If it’s not using pancetta, it’s not real cabronara. Looks good.
Look at this face of success, the face of fulfillment of nostalgia. I tasted some of her dish, it was better than mines, as expected. Well, mission accomplished I guess. Pretty full and heavy for me considering that I had a full English breakfast only a few hours prior.
After wandering about slightly in the area we decided to make our way back towards Big ben and see these protesters doing their thing in front of parliament. Ok, interesting.
After a somewhat long walk back in a much hotter setting temperature than the previous days, we return to Trafalgar square and into the national gallery museum to see some nice art. Entry is free so that’s baller good. They have alot of free museums in London which is cool.
Everyone is crowded around this piece, it’s pretty famous I know it but I can’t remember the name, my sister remembers tho, but yea, cool shit.
Proof of existence for famous painting that I can’t remember the name to, yea boi.
Proof of existence for famous painting that was on a text book that I had back in the day for medieval art history I think, good shit, remember.
The vibe and feel for this museum is more traditional than the modern art at the Tate, more classic I think, noice.
Each room is colored differently to denote a different styles/ages of painting such as renaissance, impressionism, post-impressionism etc, cool.
Another famous painting that I can’t remember the name to, very nice contrast and subject matter. About some science experient killing birds with the main focal point being the little girls reaction. Noice.
Hm, this room is very busy and populated, what could be the fuss about?
Oh yea, it’s the sunflowers painting by Van Gogh, yea, it’s popular and famous. Proof of existence, sunflowers edition.
Proof of existence, chair Van Gogh edition.
Proof of existence, another famous one that I can’t remember but it’s nice.
Proof of existence, one of the waterlilies paintings by Monet, yea that guy.
Proof of existence, Royal museum of art change museum edition. After seeing alot of stuff at the National gallery, my sister wanted to see a particular notable piece, or at least a copy of it which was also nearby at the Royal museum. Ok sure, this is the entrance to that museum/academy.
It’s a much smaller museum but it has some notable replicas of famous works, since it’s also an academy for fine arts apparent which is also a gallery of some sorts.
This horse has seen some better days I guess.
And so yea, this is what we came here to see; the Last Supper, or at least a copy of the original made by Leonardo DaVinci’s students made 10-15 years after since the original was deteriorating and being damaged. Wow.
My sister taking it in, they had some nice seats in front for you to sit there and look at it. It was apparently purchased by the museum/academy some 200 years ago as a means to inspire British students and such with their own art. It was very expensive at the time when brought as noted on the side display info.
Myself doing the same, cause it’s nice to sit down in such a great air conditioned temperature controlled area, this place had the best ac of all the museums. One of the notable differences between this and the original is that this copy has the feet of jesus shown, cause in the original it was mistakenly cut off when they were making a door behind the wall it was mounted on, doh.
Gang signs because baller for even seeing this copy of the Last supper. Overall pretty good visit, it was worth the visit, I doubt many people even know this was here. Even though the original is in Italy and in a much more beaten up state, I doubt regular people could know the difference unless they were informed about this copy. Good job students of Leonardo DaVinci, you guys can bootleg pretty good.
After leaving the presence of the comfort of the Second Supper copy edition, we headed to this Japanese supermarket/store to kill time before our reserved dinner spot.
Inside was honestly really bumping and busy, lots of shit to buy for food and even had a real manual rice milling machine for real rice shit.
Like many supermarket stores in the UK, they have fast take away combo deals or ‘meal deals’, just grab some food and pair it with a coke or water for a cheaper price, even this store was doing it with their sushi and blocks of tuna/salmon. Wow.
They even had a small area for imported manga and weekly/monthly magazines from japan, mainly manga of course. Wow, so real. The owners were real Japanese and I noticed alot of the customers were also Japanese too, wow, must be alot of Japanese in London with how many sushi and anime stores around. Noice.
Even after going to the Japanese supermarket store we still had to kill about an hour for dinner time reservations, so we went to this bake shop to just sit around as we were dying and our feet were hurting. Nice chill day huh? Not really chill after all I guess.
We brought a small ass cup of cinnamon gelato just to have an excuse to sit down. Not shown here is also two cookies also brought because buying a single gelato seemed so sad. Honestly the gelato was better than expected, good shit. The cookies were too sweet so I left it to my sister for later consumption/take away later. We stayed here for like an hour but whatever, we were tired with nowhere else to sit.
When the time came for our reservations, we just went over to the next unit beside where we were sitting, to Fallow a popular British restaurant known for having a sustainable menu by two famous chefs that worked under another famous British chef.
The vibe of Fallow is pretty modern and loud, it’s hard to hear and talk as there is loud music and an outdoor patio but it’s food style is not really fine dining, it’s more like casual modern upper scale than usual kind of fare. I found out about this place via their youtube channel as the two chef owners make videos that do not necessarily have anything to do with their restaurant menu, but more youtube like stuff, like which cut of meat is the best quality and etc.
We ordered a combination of apps and small dishes/ two main dishes. The first to come with some beef ribs and some corn ribs. They are pretty good shit, the corn in particular is very nice, it’s like fried but with like Mexican spice but with also some seaweed nori sprinkle on it as well. Good start, very good.
We also got something called a octopus crumpet because my sister wanted to try a British crumpet. The crumpet itself was alright but the octopus was very well cooked and seasoned, not rubbery but with a slight smoky flavor as well, noice.
Then our main dishes came later, their famous and signature dish at Fallow is this charcoal grilled cod head in butter sriracha sauce. Yes, it’s kinda of weird to be serving this but because their theme is all about sustainable food sources, this cod head is a prime example of that concept, using pieces of food and animals that normally are discarded to be used and prepared in a way so that it is tasty.
Face of unique food approval, watch youtube videos online success, make dreams become reality proof of existence. The burger is also their ex dairy cow burger, made with meat from old cows that were mainly used to produce milk, which normally are tough but this was also dry aged and done in a way so that’s it’s unique than an average burger. We cut the burger in half and shared.
The end of the meal, I did the best I could with the cods head and I think it was pretty good, definitely more work since all the fish meat is everywhere aside from the cheeks and collarbone, there are some parts of the fish that are just not good, just blubbery and gooey that I skipped but that’s ok. The burger was good, very different but yea honestly, the honest burgers we had on day zero were better, but it’s still a different experience, worth a try. Overall it was a good meal and experience would again and try something else on their menu if ever. The total cost of this meal, even including a mimosa I ordered and auto included service charge was about $130 pounds, which is kind of pricey but for what they offered and the service they provided, I can accept that. Noice.
After Fallow we walked back to our hotel, seeing the city on Friday night, also walked by Chinatown again which was also super bumping and lively.
Wow, they have a pop mart. My sister told me about labubus plush keychains and how they are the hottest new shit for women, since it’s basically toy gacha blindboxes. Ok sure, but I personally think they are ugly.
Wow, Harry potter live action stage show. Seems like a permanent spot, I guess it’s still popular even after the author is kind of semi-cancelled, sure.
And that ends today’s events. Man, today was supposed to be a chill day but we ended up doing way more shit than I expected, and walking a lot more than I think even yesterday. Good surprises in all the museum stuff and sights/attractions like the graffiti tunnel and covid memorial wall. All good fancy food for all meals today, no chips/fries day I guess, sure. Let’s hope that tomorrow is more chill and easy going.
