Background: So I got this from an online hobby store because I happened to win/earn some gift coupon codes, I think it was around 25 bucks or so because I brought a lot of shit from them in the past; I guess customer loyalty or whatever points. The coupon was going to expire and I wanted to get something out of it so I got this since it was “cheap” compared to a full scale PVC figure or whatever, this was a few months ago.
The character here is Northern Princess or Hokuhou Seiki from Kantai Collection in chibi form; one of the abyssals badguy ships which appears in the browser game. To be honest, even though I play the game I don’t ever recall fighting against this character, maybe it was one of the bosses in one of the previous seasonal events? I’m not entirely sure if this is a boat or not, I think it could be a base or installation enemy?
Wiki tells me she is an “Abyssal Aviation Battleship (Installation)” what the fuck is that supposed to mean? How can you be a battleship but is considered a installation like a base? Either way, it looks pretty cute. Apparently in-game she says some shit about “Gimme Zero”, which is nice and matches her look here.
Nice box, pretty nice art, figure looks accurate to the art, always a good thing. Chibi art also stays true to the original game art so that’s always a good sign though I would never have known she is supposed to be barefoot and in panties…
Review: This mini figure is not a Nendoroid but rather a Medicchu by Phat Company which doesn’t have any removable faces, hands, accessories or any of that extra shit that gets lost so easily from Nendoroids which to me is a plus.
However, it’s really small, like 30% smaller compared to a normal Nendoroid; maybe it’s because the character itself is so short or maybe that’s just how Phat Company rolls with it’s shit. Either way it’s cool with me. The paintwork and sculpt are decent, it’s a bit rough around the hands and the edges of her hair bangs but from a distance you would never notice. I had no problems getting her onto her base, just a few small pegs for her and the ball bomb things.
One minor complaint is that the base is pretty big for what it is and looks kind of odd; maybe that’s a Medicchu standard; not sure since this is my first one.
Overall I am satisfied with this mini figure, it’s cute, it’s kantai, it’s alright.
Although I wish the same can be said for the shipping cost I incurred for this thing; which was close to the price of the actual product, what the fuck guys?
Other than that, I hope this thing brings me good luck with the next boat event. I still would like to get my hands on that WO-Class carrier Medicchu since it looks so funny but it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon unless they do a re-release.
Score: Nice thing to have.
