Cover Art: So this album is another Undead Corporation work titled 海の風、陸の花, which roughly translates to “Sea of wind, land of flowers” according to google and contains covers of Kantai Collection’s in-game music, which is pretty cool. The illustration pictured above is not really the cover of this album but rather the advertising banner that you can see if you go to the official page for this release. The actual cover is pretty much the same thing except zoomed out and all of the text on the right removed, I couldn’t find a suitable image so I just used this. The character here is obviously the aircraft carrier Akagi in her damaged state although done in a wood-block-ish kind of style. Bait? Yes. Will accept? Yes.
Album Review: Being a fan cover album means it’s relatively short, all of the songs are no greater than 3-4 minutes long, some even only 1 minute but I suppose that is ok, being as this is game music and all. Even though it’s supposed to be metal; there is quite a lot of instrumental elements left intact which were also present in the original music such as flutes, piano and some traditional Japanese instruments which I can’t really name but you would know if you hear it. There is no vocals in any of the songs which is actually fine by me so it stays true to the original work. With good riffs that are clearly recognizable Kancolle tunes, this is overall a pretty good offering worthy of listening if you like the in-game music but want to listen to something more hard sounds when battling on the high seas.
