Tracedawn – Lizard Dusk (2012)

Tracedawn is a Finnish melodic death metal band that is currently on hiatus since 2012. This is their last album as far as I know. As usual this is another random find while browsing through getmetal.org and a random download. When I do this kind of thing, I sometimes get alot of shit that I don’t like even if I go by labels and telling me what genre and styles the album is supposed to be. This time however is not one of those times.

These Tracedawn guys have some pretty good shit. Nothing out of the ordinary from standard melodeath but their riffs are fast and tight with good speed. A considerably amount of synth is used by these guys and as usual a combination of harsh and clean vocals. The harsh vocals are solid but the clean vocals are a little bit to high and wussy for me. It’s ok but if anything is a bit distracting. This thing has 13 tracks on it with last 3 being instrumental acoustic guitar versions of the earlier songs with pure clean vocal and slowed down to grampa guitar speeds. “Arabian Nights” is probably their best song and the most memorable and also gets an acoustic version.

Funny how that after listening to the acoustic version of the song I can actually tell with the harsh vocal version lyrics are in the original metal version. Eh. Fucking song is so wussy and is basically about some dude smooth talking to a women and shit. lololol. Maybe it would have been better if they didn’t have that version of the song. Well either way these guys are multi-talented to produce metal and acoustic version of the same songs.

So brave much. Dont’ care, good enough riffs to overlook the laughable subject matter. Dope acoustic versions of songs. Too bad they are probably dead and done by now, it’s 2017.

Score: 7.5
