Whatever

More Kancolle Medicchus

I like boats. I also like small cute things so after buying the Medicchu Northern Princess about 2 years ago I decided to try and obtain more mini boat waifus to add to my collection. Problem with that however is that alot of these items aren’t exactly new and have been technically sold out for quite some time, so kinda hard to find, at least new that is.  I decided to take a look around the AmiAmi pre-owned section on their website, and of course I found a few items that caught my attention.

I’ve never brought anything from them used so now was a good time to test it out. AmiAmi pre-owned has this scale which ranks the condition of their used goods, from S: New – Guaranteed to be unused and unopened, to J: Unacceptable – Item is missing parts and/or is severely damaged. I’ve never seen anything listed lower than C on the site so I suppose those are in so bad condition they don’t even make it to the point of being cataloged and listed online. Either way I got a few new toys after bargain hunting, let’s take a look.

Yamato Medicchu

I’ve always liked Yamato’s design and while there has been a 1/8 scale figure of her from Max Factory, I kinda missed it and wasn’t too interested in it a the time, thinking that other figure manufactures will surely make more of her. So I waited for something better. And waited…

…but nothing new really came out. The Max Factory Yamato really was the only scaled proportioned made so far in the past 3-4 years or so since Kancolle has been out which is really a shame but understandable consider her ship parts are huge and add so much cost to the manufacturing and production costs. There’s a reason why some boat figures comes in “Light” and “Heavy” versions, fucking too expensive for ship parts, that’s what.

I still might end up picking up the scale Yamato figure in the future but for now I am pretty happy with this mini one, it looks cute and the condition it was in was outstanding. The base is pretty large for what it is but it’s about the same size as Northern Princess’s base, which is ok I guess.

Side view showing her umbrella, cool stuff for such a small figure. The main 46cm gun turrents are moveable which is a nice extra but kinda pointless since you can’t really move anything else on her.

Back view, nice ponytail and shipparts. Not bad. I think I got this one in condition A: Like New – Item is sealed and is unopened or appears to be unopened. It was extremely cheap compared to it’s original retail costs, something like 70% off and it only cost like 1,480 Yen. Good deal

Haruna Medicchu

Being pretty daijoubu and arguably one of the best kongo sisters, I just had to get a Haruna mini. Between Kongo and Haruna I’m split between which one I like more, in the game side Haruna is better since she got those special patterned guns but Kongo is funny and hype, and well, Kongo so yea. In the end they all voiced by Nao Toyama so whatever.

Unlike Yamato there are a few more scaled figures of Haruna but not much, there are a few crappy ones that are sitting and are just recolors of Kongo versions since they are basically almost the same except minor clothes differences and face/hair obviously. There’s a really good one by Amakuni but it was a special limited edition mail order thing from Hobby Japan so a pain in the ass to obtain brand new, plus really expensive.

I never knew Haruna’s hair at the back was this spiky. Hmm. This is not K2 model but still good.

Side view profile with ship parts. Out of the ones that I brought from AmiAmi pre-owned, this Haruna was supposed to be in the worst condition, at C: Acceptable – Opened item with conspicuous damage. Parts may be missing. On the detail page it noted that there was supposed to be some paint transfer on the gold parts. Which gold parts I am not sure what it’s referring to because damn I don’t really see anything wrong with her at all! If I didn’t know any better I would have thought this was brand new, super cheap too at like 65% off 1,150 Yen.

Ooyodo Medicchu

Having played boats for like almost 3-4 years now, you get used to seeing Ooyodo as the quest npc girl. Sure she’s a crappy CL too with 4 equipment slots but in this day in age, that doesn’t really do much other than a better than average anti-sub boat. In the anime I honestly forget that she was in it, but yea she was there just doing her job reporting to Nagato and crew to the admiral and shit. I think they added a feature to turn her off but I forgot where so I just keep her on.

Even though she is a boat, her mini figure doesn’t have any ship parts lol too bad Ooyodo, it’s as if she is only working doing her administrative work. Kinda low cost there too.

Without any context she would just appear to anybody as a usual sailor uniform girl with glasses and crazy looking squiggly lines eyes, which I think are funny and cute.

Man that’s some pretty big hair. I think there’s going to be another scale figure of Ooyodo by Amakuni again which looks great. She should get more attention really, she gets seasonal CG costume changes all the time and is kind of a mascot of sort, if you play the shit flash game such as myself that is.

Side view of quest girl. Surprisingly Ooyodo was one of the more expensive ones that I got from AmiAmi at 2,280 which is pretty much retail price, no discounts at all at A rank. I think it has something to do with how recent a product was released, for example, the Yamato one was originally released back in 2015 and Haruna one in early 2016 and this one at the beginning of 2017, so yea, maybe some magic rarity scale is at play here.

Wo-Class Medicchu

I have been looking for this Medicchu for a long time, pretty much when I first saw it I thought it was super cute and wanted it. At the time I resisted and didn’t pre-order, but after like 2 years or so I decided to fuck it and look around to purchase it in the aftermarket from AmiAmi.

Wo……

Cool, I never knew there was a anchor behind her back. Heh I suppose you would only ever know about this if you had the original character design sheets or something. Look at those tenticle tendrils, pretty nice design. Black Wo Shooter.

Her mushroom hat head thing comes off and well…she looks like she’s in a hoodie or something. Very round and spherical smooth. Weird.

And here was have a team of carrier bitches ready to ruin your air superiority. In the anime they make Wo kinda like the main bad guy but in reality of the game she’s just a regular grunt carrier that just so happens to have a great design. Ah well, I can’t really complain in that regard. The most expensive of the AmiAmi preowned haul at A Rank costing 2,880 Yen, no discount. Her base is not as big as Northern Princess, it’s about the same as the other boat girls with the exception of Yamato, so I guess the bulk of the cost is because of her fat heavy hat and tendrils. Don’t care, worth it.

And here we have my mini boat waifus standing guard under the base of my second monitor. Yea boi. Looking nice there.

It’s kind of funny how because these guys are “used” I decided to open them all and inspect them first before everything else I have backlogged for figure merchandise. I have a few scale boat figures that I haven’t even opened up yet either due to lack of space but yea, one day I will.

Overall my experience with AmiAmi pre owned stuff has been really good, of all the items I ordered, all look pretty much brand new, their boxes; which I forgot to take photos of look just as good as well, no damage to be seen. Even with that C rank Haruna, I honestly don’t’ see anything wrong with it, maybe it’s just Japanese standards thing or maybe the guy/girl packing my order picked up a better quality one that just so happened to be available or something, who knows.

I may end up picking up the Kongo or Shimakaze Medicchu if I ever see them in decent cost/shape on AmiAmi but then again I dunno, we’ll see how I feel.

Good shit.
