Mai Top Mini Anime of 2017

I….did it last year but honestly I don’t really need to do it again but whatever, for consistency sake I am making a separate post for “Mini-shows”. I only watched 5 mini shows this entire year which considering that last year in 2016 I watching 17. Holy shit I wonder what happened there in terms of mini-shows? Ahwell.

Here’s what I ended up watching for mini-shows:

5. Nyanko Days

Nyanko Days was a very short and cute show that I enjoyed where all the cats in the world were anthropomorphized or rather, converted into little midget girls with cat ears and a tail. As the last ranking mini show on my list, that’s not really saying much. It was alright, completely stupid with just cute cat girl moments and the like. The animation was alright but could have been better. Think this shit was like 5minutes? Ah well. I can’t really say much about this show since it was so short other than the ending song was pretty type. Nice.

4. One Room.

This mini show was pretty interesting. It think it ran for a full 12 or so episodes with about 8 minutes each. The show is divided into third’s with each section dedicated to one of the girls seen in the image above.  You are first person dude, you are different dudes with each girl. So for instance the first girl all you see is you interacting with you and doing cute things, eventually becoming kind of a de facto boyfriend as the end of their episodes. The first girl, bottom right was just a typical  newhigh school student who just moved next to your apartment, the bottom left was a little sister type character with you being the onii-chan, the top was probably the ultimate girl, childhood friend that had dreams to be a musician when she was a kid but is still trying to realize them and you are still supporting her all the way through. So yea, the order of best girls are as they appear in reverse, 3, 2, 1. Yea, the animation of this mini-show is actually really high and the character designs are pretty cute. They made a male equivalent of this show but it was gay instead, like you are the first person and you are going to be a roommate with a bunch of other guys. yea, This should was alright new experience.

3. Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte Kara

Known to me as “Get my wife drunk” that’s what this mini-show is about. So some blonde businesswomen comes home to work everyday and is tired and shit. Very uptight and stressed but when her husband pours/mixes her a crazy ass fancy alcoholic beverage she gets all lovey dovey and tipsy. It’s an alright show all around, with the primary purpose of the show being how to teach you to make drinks in the show, they usually put the recipe at the end and such. The wife is nice, she is cute and has boobs. The husband is yea well, just a dude. The show briefly goes into her live as like some marketing chief or something where the show introduces several other female characters that are her rivals but also have a weak spot for drinks and their husbands and whatnot. At the end it’s basically revealed through a story that the two meet after she was working too late and had missed the last train, having nowhere to go and raining, she took shelter in front of a bar, where she met her husband, which was a bartender and yea, that’s how it goes. Not bad show for it’s length and purpose, nice mini-show.

2. Aho Girl

Aho girl is a pretty jokes show, by mini-show standards, it’s extremely high quality and as a funny comedic hype show, pretty high tier. Main girl, Aho girl is very very dumb, I’m talking like doornoob dumb and yea, that’s the premise of the show. She lives next door to some dude and that dude hates her because she is so annoying but she persistently tries to make him her boyfriend, having known each other since childhood to great stupid effect. Aho girl’s mother even encourages this because she it’s crazy too and wants to secure her idiot daughter’s future and safety, stopping at nothing to make that so, even if that means harassing other girls that like the main dude and such. Aside from Aho girl, there is also blonde nice girl (friend, pictured above), Boob president (student council president that likes main dude but is kinda stalker-ish) and some other characters that are just side fools but then again everyone in this show is a fool joke. The dog is good. The tone and pacing of the show is extremely fast and our Aho girl doing her hype insanity very well. The opening sequence is always different too, animation and character designs good too. If it wasn’t for the quick 10-15 minute running time it could maybe even pass for a full show. Good shit.

1. THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS Theater

And here it is, mai top min-show of 2017 is THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS Theater. It wasn’t really a hard choice, having run over 26 web episodes of 3 minutes and 26 tv episodes of 5 minutes each this show is easily the most consistently watched mini show at least for me this year. Airing and spanning between two separate seasons the show explored many of the other characters not featured in the full length-anime series but rather those in the most current iterations of idol master cinderella girls music games. The show is short and straight to the point, one tv length episode they cut in out like 4-5 times with multiple girls doing funny/cute/stupid/ shit that are true to their character’s personality and such, there is no drama here, only fun stuff. The most enjoyable part however is how after every 6 or 7 episodes they change the ending sequence and of course it’s a totally different song with different girls and visual animations, varying from hype cheerful songs to a bit more stoic songs but all still a good range of variety. An interesting part of the show is that while the girls appear 95% of the time in simplified chibi form, they occasionally are rendered to scale, realistically as are are supposed to appear which is kinda cool because if you haven’t seen these characters such as myself it makes you go “oh, so that’s how they are actually supposed to look”. Heh. Fun shit, good characters and hopefully a new anime series in the future maybe, or not, whatever. Good shit.

Congratulations, THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS Theater, you are mai top mini-show anime of 2017, although that’s not saying alot since I only watched 5 shows. Ah well.
