Alright then, after a busy summer let’s see what Fan Expo has got to offer me this busy convention year. After AX it’s gonna be hard to top but then again, my standards for this “If you like Stuff” convention of mega generic mainstream comic, scifi, horror, gaming fare is pretty low but let’s see what we got. Like you know, many years ago we had Riot games and League appear at Fan Expo, maybe something like that will happen again? Which in my opinion was probably one of the best Fan Expo’s ever. Let’s see what we have here today on this final Sunday.

Walking down the street, seeing all the people and I greet “heyo, this is fannnn exppoooo!!” Not.

They put their tables to sign shit really early this year in the tunnel.

No shortage of paper and pens either. We arrived about 15-20 minutes later than the initial rush but yea, whatever.

Pretty empty after the first half hour in. Then again, this is also Sunday so that too.

Same old ticketing system, still overpriced bullshit. For Sunday it’s $50! Holy shit that’s expensive. I better get my money’s worth this day. For Saturday shit is like $70 dollars. Fuck.

Headed straight to artists area and of course this gundam mech table is there. Has been for at least the past 5 years or so.

Oh look, more familiar artists that I brought from. This time two separate ones that I brought from separately are together here. Heh, neither are at the table yet I think.

This is the new meta, acrylic everything, keychains and these standee things. These FGO and heroes one are pretty nicely made.

DBZ or rather Super is kind of a thing these days. Not bad.

The new meta is strong, especially with FGO and some boats.

I’ve brought from this artist several times over the past few years, a constant source of kancolle buttons but it seems this year he/she isn’t put them out anymore, at least not upfront in the display. Ahwell, at least they seem to but on point with all the latest show, look a Platelet and Blend S.

They did however have mystery grab bags available with an assortment of buttons and leftover stock, all this shit for only $10 which is an amazing deal considering I remember it was like 5 buttons for 7 dollars or something, can’t remember.

Plus the bag they had them in is pretty cute too.

After taking a few steps and checking out the first bag we were like, fuck it let’s buy another one, it has good stuff. This time rabbit design.

A wide assortment of non-selling buttons and shit. It’s funny because I know most of the stuff in the bag, most were really shitty FGO chibi faces and some kancolle ones, the same ones that I brought for years. Nice surprise.

So after doing the artist alley we go to the industry and company area. The first one there was the OLG, what the fuck motherfuckers? Seriously? They may have been here before but this time it’s kinda hard not to notice them, like why would I want to buy lottery and play some shit shooting game with numbers at a convention that’s supposed to be about comics, games, movies and nerd shit? GTFO.

Hm at least they got some legit with wacom being here showing of their warez but honestly their booth was laughable.

Compared to previous years the Hasbro “booth” or rather area is totally shit this year. It’s kind of an open space where you can just interact with the toys and if you like them can you go up front and place your order. It’s similar to what has been done at AX for goods but all of these things are just regular toys that you can probably buy at a toystore or online so what’s the point.

This was here last year in some capacity but forgot who was this for? Laser tag I think?

I always appreciate that DETECTIVE DEE THE FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS is on the case for my giant Chinese movie poster of random.

Blizzard was here but once again they didn’t go a really good job of doing anything to showcase their shit or any freebies for that matter. Of course it was a lot more diverse than in AX, this time they actually showcase more shit instead of just overwatch; got your WoW, hearthstone and diablo but no starcraft so yea. You can get in line to play their games but what’s the point? It’s not like they are new games or they give you anything for playing. I waited in line for about 10 minutes at the hearthstone demo before realizing they didn’t give you shit for playing, waste of time double.

There is no reason why TekSavvy should have presence at this convention whatsoever. What are you going to say? Get TekSavvy bitch for faster internet so you can stream your super hero shows and scifi better? No, waste of space and effort, just like OLG booth.

Nintendo had that gimmicky pokeball bullshit to improve your experience while playing pokemon go, cool you can throw the ball. Nice but if it doesn’t improve my chances of catching monsters what’s the point, pure gimmick, just like the Wii.

At least they had the newest Not fighting game on display here, Smash.

Hm, this is a new indutry booth, Funko decided to make their debut at Fan expo finally. Of course the lines for cheap looking but collectable pop culture pieces was very long, all limited edition exclusive to the con, which is really cool.

It’s about like 4:30pm now, the con ends at 5pm so we decided to head on out early. In previous years I would stay to the very end but this time, there is like nothing so yea, just jet that shit. Seeing as how it’s so empty already means others already left as well.

So this is some of the shit that I got for free this year at Fan Expo. Very sad pieces of paper.

More free shit and free bags and the complete total of everything that was purchased by me and my sister on Fan Expo. Very weak and pitiful compared to last year and AX although that is to be expected since this year I spent alot of money on shit during AX so I held back on buying any art from artist alley. No Manga or paper either. The plush is my sister’s and the bird plush thing.

Stuff that I got from the grab bag. Yes, mainly shitty FGO super deformed buttons but what do you expect for $10 random? Still a great deal since normally it’s like 3 for $5. Those ketchains are really shit though, sad, artist just trying to get rid of underselling stock.

This other bag was a bit better, had quite a few kancolle boat buttons, some of which I actually paid for before in previous years and some nice Love live stuffs. Not bad for random.

So then, that wraps it up I guess; all in all this year’s Fan Expo was pretty shit, terrible in fact. The decrease in quality and things to do, see, get, watch at Fan Expo is very noticeable, even more so than in previous years.  As illustrated above, I got nothing worthy of note for free, maybe a pin or two and a few free Lego pieces from EB games because they just didn’t give a shit and a bag but the rest just posters and random crap for free. Nothing here to justify $50 dollars on a SUNDAY, fuck it’s expensive. In terms of guests they had the back to the future cast here but whatever, unless your going to go take a photo or autograph, it’s not even worth. The other guest they had like Jason Momoa were ok but nothing to justify $50. The lack of industry or professional exhibitors and dealers this year was glaring, like it was so open in the industry area with very little to do or see of noteworthy content, starving for event content. In previous years they had Lego and Mega blocks show up to do shit and see, this year they didn’t even show up. Hasbro booth is shit, all gaming booths are shit, rooster teeth booth is shit, FUCKING TECH SAVY HAD A BOOTH, how desperate do you have to be to allow a fucking internet provider and THE OLG to have such big booths and presence? Pretty desperate I guess. The Dragonball booth/area was probably the best thing at this convention but for me it was like whatever because I already saw that shit at AX. Funko appearing was cool but not really for me. Cosplay during my 1 day here was terrible, so many people didn’t cosplay compared to last year and the sense of excitement of the event is just dead and tired, nobody seemed to be enthusiastic and it showed, I barely took any cosplay photos this time because all the cosplayers were so sparse and or things that are boring and tired to me, nothing new or exciting. Maybe it’s just a Sunday thing but I doubt it, last year I saw great energy and cosplayers and that was a Sunday too, this year they just dont’ give a shit to dress up. The dealers had no new merchandise to sell, same shit. The artists alley are the exact same artists for the past 3-4 years now, almost 100% the same as last year minus a few missing replaced with even shitter artists. Fucking staff telling me to not take photos in the North building because no photos allowed while celebrities are there. MOTHER FUCKERS. I PAID $50 TO GET INTO THIS SHIT AND YOUR TELLING ME I CAN’T TAKE A PHOTO OF A CELEBRITY LIKE 10 METERS AWAY. NOT EVEN AN ARIAL VIEW DURING THE WALKWAY ABOVE TO GO BACK INTO THE MAIN HALL? FUCK. Shits the worst. Overpriced food was expected but the lack of new programming, exhibitors or shit to do at this years Fan Expo leaves me questioning if I should even bother coming back again next year. If they don’t get their shit together, I’ll probably skip next years Fan Expo for sure, I can’t justify the price for what they have to offer.
