As the world continues to slowly but surely open up as the number of covid cases decreases in most parts of the world and the vast majority of the population are fully vaccinated by now, at least in the most civilized parts; we can begin to think about other things now, like what anime’s are worth taking a look at for the Fall Season 2021! Especially more so now that the sad Japan Olympics has finally came and went, Canadian federal election came and went and studios and fandom can slowly begin to focus on more fun things and more escapist things; like korean squid game, hololive vtubers, movies like dune, james bond and facebook being ruined and rebranding as Meta. Yep, good times are ahead of us I hope, this fall season seems to have something for everyone as well.
Getsuyoubi no Tawawa S2 – Second season of ‘blue monday’ mini show featuring big boob girls in daily interactions in life with no name men which find them attractive and the girls know it as well and kind of teases them. The main girl from the original returns on the subway and we are introduced to a big boob student that likes her teacher. I am sure all the others from the original will show up in some capacity. Will try to watch.
Ganbare Douki-chan – Another mini show that chronicles the life of a young office lady Douki-chan that likes her co-worker but the guy is clueless and doesn’t get her hints. The first episode has them staying in a love hotel by totally not a mistake on a business trip, but actually was planned by Douki-chan. While she hopes something would happen, nothing does and is frustrated. Not bad, will try to watch more.
Heike Monogatari – First real show of the season and i skimmed this shit already based purely on the art style. It looks like it’s trying to mimic old traditional Japanese woodblock prints or paintings and couldn’t be further from anime looking in the slightest. I have no interest in this but it’s something about some girl with two colored eyes in feudal japan or whatever. Next.
Waccha PriMagi! – Not sure if this is a sequel or some long running franchise but it’s a magical girl idol anime that is very colorful and has some cat girl alien thing that assists the main idol wannabe because magic or something. The dancing is 3dcg but it’s quite a bit below love live and other 3d dance performances. I think this is for little girls? Not sure hard to tell since i’m getting PrettyCure vibes but not really. Decent character designs, whatever premise. Not bad for what it is but next.
Digimon Ghost Game – They made a new digimon anime i think last or the year before that was kind of a re-imagining of the original anime series or it was a sequel, i can’t remember but either way this shit is full on kiddie shit. They look like shit, very close to pokemon levels of detail and animation. After about 30 or so seconds in I closed the video and said, ya nope. Next.
Tesla Note – This is a 3dcg show where it’s main problem is that it’s a 3dcg show. The main girl in the opening sequence of this show is a relatively quiet and calm glasses girl in school but as she goes home she is attacked by men in black suits but for some reason she is able to fight them off and own them, then her grandpa shows up and is all like, go easy on them or some shit and tells her they are here to give her her first job. After a momentary pause, she is ecstatic and cheerful at the news, with much expression and happiness. This is where the problems begins, for a girl to be so happy and shit, the faces they gave her in 3d just don’t cut it so what the show does is they fucking DRAW HER IN 2D with BETTER REAL ANIME EXPRESSIONS and hyperbole super deformed faces. What the fuck. This is so awkward since as soon as her moment ends it goes back to the drab and souless 3dcg anime. Fuck. This happens a few times more in the show specifically for the girl and it’s so obvious, it’s like they think people couldn’t tell the difference between 2d and 3d animation. But anyways, the girl is actually trained to be a ninja by her grandpa and this organization wants her to do shit. It’s not important what the plot is after that, the show is shit because it’s 3d. The premise is decent and moderately entertaining and the girl herself is kinda cute and likeable but the 3d/2d combo ruins everything. Fail show.
Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu – Space vampires powered by the soviet union; yea, not entirely correct, but the entire premise of this show can be summed up as that for simplicity. Well, not really, but it’s about a not russia/soviet union alternate world where the space race is happening and russia wants to be the first country to put a human in space, but in order to minimize the risk they want to send up a vampire because they are a lot more durable and maybe immortal and don’t want to cause a scandal if a human dies if they do send one up. Vampires are kinda mysterious but apparently exist in this world and ya, russia finds one and convinces one to join the space program. The vampire that is going to be trained to go to space is a cute girl obviously and her handler is some some protag bait boi as usual that immediately finds her attractive at first sight. The premise of the show is very unique although kinda hard to take seriously even tho it’s trying really hard to be big brain and science like, which is admirable. While there is a clear goal defined in the the show, the main points and story will likely revolve around slice of life, drama/relationship building aspect between the vampire girl and main boy, you know, how to be human, love etc. Decent good animation but ultimately, not really for me. Unless this gets praise as being the best shit this season, I am unlikely to watch more of this. Not bad, but pass.
Mieruko-chan – This is an interesting show about a highschool girl Mieruko-chan that ends up being able to see ghosts one day suddenly and tries her best to live with it and not get scared or spooked cause all of the ghost are all like, ‘hey hey, do you see me?’ to her and are very gruesome and shit with her trying to ignore them. The girl herself is not bad, kinda cute and decent clean design which is good since for some reason, this show likes to focus on her ass quite a alot and her thighs/legs. I suppose it’s all part of this weird combination of really gross scary looking ghosts contrasted by cute girls showing fan service and such, it’s kind of unique. Another example is her friend, which can’t see the ghosts that has big boobs and the ghosts are totally groping her friend’s boobs and the rest of her body, with Mieruko-chan trying her best to not freak out and trying to get the ghost to go away to the obliviousness of her friend. I think this show is a comedy, but a comedy that has spooks/horror, cute girls and dry/dark humor packaged as a slice of life daily living show. It’s unique. I think I’ll try to continue to watch this as i haven’t seen such a weird combo of themes in a show in a long time. Not bad, try to watch more.
Sankaku Mado no Sotogawa wa Yoru – Gay show for women disguised as a paranormal mystery show with two men, both of which can see paranormal/ghost/psychic activity in various capacities, but together they can see so much more; even that description sounds pretty gay man. lol. The main boy is a wussy guy, gets picked up by some teacher boss guy because he can detect his power. They solve mysteries and murder stuff by seeing ghosts and trails of notes. In many ways this is essentially a much gayer women version of mob psycho 100% except mob and the detective guy is actually competent. Not bad, shiny but not for me. Next.
Muteking the Dancing Hero – I am not sure who this show is targeted for but it’s a Pokemon level animation show with bright colors that features dancing and hip hop, street urban style that takes place in like no shit, neo LA or some shit. Some cool comes around with blue hair is all like, yea i wanna dance, I came from the country, i like to dance.
86 – Eighty Six – The second season/cour of spider mech war drama anime continues and based on the first episode has already brought upon quite a big number of revelations that I did not expect coming out of the first season ending. Indeed, this show went in a direction that I really didn’t expect it to and without giving any spoilers, could potentially turn into this generation’s gundam seed, or at least with similar themes and war battle/drama. Pleasantly surprised, will try to watch more for sure. Good animation, OP, story/pacing etc.
Isekai Shokudou S2 – I had no idea that they were going to be making a second season of top tier isekai restaurant food show and you can bet your ass that i’m going to watch this one for sure 100%. Everything about this show is great and builds upon the story/character/lore established in the first season, although episodic in nature, there are returning customers/guests and new stories about food are told about them along with other guests interacting and mingling with each other, something that the first season didn’t do a whole lot of. Good animation, everything, premise story, character designs. Top tier food show. Watch for sure.
Selection Project – This is another somewhat generic idol anime where a bunch of girls compete to be the top idol in Japan. The first episode highlights about 7 or 8 different girls competing in their own regional competitions before going into the main national tournament. Of course each of the girls has their unique characteristics which makes them idol potentials, but the ‘main’ girl that the show focuses on is a girl that was favorite to be the best but ultimately has some nervous breakdown and chokes in her performance and loses the spot to the national competition. I’m sure there is some way that she will be redeemed and still go to the nationals but yea, this is that kind of idol show, more drama and struggle rather than chill or jokes. The character designs are not bad and they remind me a bit of idolmaster Cinderella girls designs with decent to good animation. While the show itself is good if your looking for a decent idol anime with story, there is so many of these that it’s hardly worth investing time in unless this is some mobile game or existing franchise/card/game media project. Not bad, but probably not worth the time, pass.
Shikizakura – Another hybrid 3dcg anime show that is basically anime power rangers trying to save the world. The only thing good about this show is that one of the girls is pretty cute that looks kinda like a maid but not really, just, maid style with a big of rich girl clothes that is some kind of priestess that protects from the evil monsters that all the not-power rangers follow for advice or something. The monsters are some black alien-looking things with big mouths and no eyes. The main boy gets thrust into a situation where he is in danger and has to get suited up into a power ranger suit, but the suit itself is kinda sentient and has a digtal face and i kinda evil/bad suit or something. The boy with the power of his Seigi, overcomes the evil suit and makes it his own and fights the monsters or some shit. The show would be better if it was 100% 2d but whatever, it’s still shit. Only thing good is the priestess girl. Pass.
Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi – A very short green haired new office worker battles with her physical appearance as a teenager or even kid in her new workplace with the backdrop of a romance story with her senpai, a huge muscular big dude that is built like a football or soccer player. The show itself is comedy slice of life and lots of gags poking fun of the green girl and equally the weird contrast between her senpai and herself. The opening suggests there are many other characters not yet introduced with similar weird office relationships and whatnot, which is all good. The first episode is about the green girl making a mistake in her work that causes trouble for a client and her senpai taking responsibility and going all out trying to fix the problem, which they eventually do to better results. The show has decent animation and ok character designs, the main green girl is nothing special at all and pretty ordinary, and the big senpai is an alright chill dude. This show is kinda like New Game, except more business and not just cute girls which is unfortunate. Not bad, but we’ll see, I wouldn’t mind watching this as it seems fun but there’s so much good shit this season we’ll have to see. Lots of office based anime’s recently for some reason interestingly.
Saihate no Paladin – I feel this show is trying to capitalize on the kind of storytelling similar to that of Mushoku Tensei, jobless re-incarnation that just throws you into the story focusing on a single main protag guy that was isekied and yea, just runs with it from kid to growing up. The show starts with standard isekai trope of the main guy dying in some way or another and being reborn into a new fantasy world but manages to maintain his memories of the past word. For reasons that are not fully explained, he is picked up by a bunch of monster like people, a skeleton knight, a ghost wizard and some undead priestess women. They raise the isekei baby and yea, he grows up. The mini time jump to him as a boy growing up and his three monster guardians teaching him various things like swordfighting, magic and other shit. You can kinda get an idea where this show is going but ultimately it’s similarities to Mushoku Tensei is handicapping it greatly, they even go so far as to not include an opening sequence, just like jobless re-incarnation. Nice try but only hardcore iseki fans would want to watch this, there are much better options and stories around. Pass.
Build Divide – Code Black – Anime about a card game franchise/mobile game that I have no idea about but is the most yu-gi-oh experience that I’ve had in recent memory in a long time, far exceeding the level of shadowverse levels of kiddie and instead tries to double down on the edgyiness of itself because their cards have cute girls, fantasy knights and mecha future stuff like tanks and battleships/spaceships etc. You can change the playing field to have advantage to your card type like, ‘dessert’, ‘hell’ or ‘jungle’ or some shit like that. very yu-gi-oh. The main boy is even some normal that lost his memory and wants to fight the king of games or something because revenge or something and goes into a ‘ yami yugi’ mode where he suddenly goes from complete noob to some galaxy brain heart of the cards edgelord god. There is a cute girl that challenges him that goes ruined and yea, that’s how the show progresses i guess. She becomes his partner cause they have the same goal of beating not-MaximillanPegasus or whatever. Not bad, but not for me, in a dry season I would have picked this up for jokes but nah, too much good stuff so pass.
Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Ressha-hen – From my understanding, this is technically s2 of demon slayer but the first 6 or 7 episodes are actually just literally rehashes of the mugen train movie that aired almost 2 years ago but with added scenes, music and some more dialogue. The first episode watching proves that this is true but serves as a kind of brand new prologue to our new best boy, Rengeku, the star of the yaiba movie before getting on the train, which is great additional story and background. The second episode however, is a literally cut from the movie with nothing added new, which is unfortunate. I think they planned this to be a full 23-24 episode season so I might just wait out the first batches of episodes since it just covers the movie untill they actually continue the story after the 6-7 episodes of recap. Overall looking good, movie level quality cause you know, it was actually a movie. UFO table doing their gods work in animation. Will watch more…eventually when the new stuff gets in.
Taishou Otome Otogibanashi – Story about a jaded motherfucker who is part of some rich noble family in the taishou era around the early 20’s japan which loses his ability to use his hand in a car accident that also ends up killing his mother and little brother I think and is very sad and depressed. His father, having nothing more to do with him since he is basically a useless cripple now sends him off to the countryside to live out his days in isolation and away from society. The boy complies and goes there and finds that his dad found a girl to marry him as his wife and sends her over to take care of him. The boy is kinda like why, but the girl is very happy and cheerful even though she tells him that she was essentially sold by her parents to pay for her family’s debt and so forth. Despite this situation, the girl for some reason is very happy about eventually becoming his wife and does her best to comfort him in the boy’s sadness. The boy, being a bitch, is reluctant to accept his affection because he doesn’t like the whole arranged marriage thing. Some shit happens and they eventually become ok with each other, or rather, the boy accepts her. The show itself I think is a semi-harem as it seems other girls show up as maids or other potential wives in his life but the tone, at least from the first episode is a strange mix of drama and mild slice of life, similar to ‘i killed your dad’ march comes in like a lion but way worse and nowhere near as impactful. Shit designs, sad premise, i’m sure some people will like this however, I hear the opening song is really catchy but it wasn’t in the first ep I don’t know. Pass.
Visual Prison – Gay vampire idols. Nuff said. But really, why has it taken so long for a show like this to be created only till now? You would think that the concept of a bunch of vampires, moonlighting as popular bishonen male idol groups to the mass public to attract a legion of crazed female fans only to absorb their life force via dancing and singing and battle it out between themselves would have been made decades ago, but apparently not. The show itself is very high production value with all of the beautiful vampire boys doing their blood night dancing and focuses, at least at first the main boy, who loves 80’s/90’s visual kei rock-metal bands and dreams of joining a band like in those old days. Surprize, some shit happens and the main guy in the band that you loved is still around and is apparently a vampire and discovers you are a half vampire too so you can be a gay vampire idol as well with your idol! Oh boy! Yea, this is not for me, but this is peak edgelord women bait at it’s finest level and I applaud it for that. 10/10 would watch if i was gay or a women.
Platinum End – This show is interesting but kinda tries a bit too hard to be edgy and as far as I can see, it is filled with questionable characters that you probably can’t trust or like. Quick rundown, boy is sad bullied at school, wants to, tries to kill himself by jumping off the school building; as he is falling, he is saved by a glowing white angel girl and tells him he wants him to be happy and live, he gives him a choice of 1 of 2 abilities, something like the ability to force anyone to do whatever he says and other one to make anyone love them or something, can’t remember, boy doesn’t give a shit since he doesn’t believe it and says, why not both, angel is like sure, you can have both, so he does and gets angel wings where he can fly and shit. Some shit happens and basically using his new powers, discovers that it was his uncle and aunt, who had been his guardians for years were the ones that murdered his family because they wanted inheritance money or something. Through circumstance or indirect rage, he tells his aunt to die and then because he has powers, of course she kills herself. Oh boy. So yea, some shit happens and we are revealed that this is all part of some big game to determine the new god or something of this world because of course and there many others people with angels that gave them powers like him. Not bad, but not particularly unique other than it being a bootleg death note with battle survival elements, which is all the rage I suppose with squid game. Pass.
Kyoukai Senki – Skimmed this shit as it looked like a bootleg gundam but not, it’s all sunrise looking but not gundam and has something to do about a boy who is fighting the power or something against the oppressive government or some shit. Mechs kinda mech and main guy looks like he could be in pokemon. Next.
Sakugan – An original show that gives alot of gurren lagann vibes but may just end up being exactly what it appears to be, a journey’s father daughter story in a world where people mine shit and they have to escape cause their colony/workcamp has been invaded by alien monster things. The main girl is just a kid but is supposed to be a genius and wants to be an adventurer/explorer of the galaxy because that’s what she dreamed of or something but her father, a clown like but wholesome guy is just a miner who doesn’t want her to go and such. All that changes when the aliens attack and they are forced to flee and for some reason the dad has some old mech stored around. After witnessing the brutal and sudden death of their friends so pointlessly who tried to defend the colony the make a run for it. The tone of this show is very variable and ranges from comedy at times to high drama and thriller which I suppose is a characteristic of adventure shows, but with the added layers of a father and daughter journey’s together to find some famous explorer or hero something. The animation quality of this show is very high, very high for a first episode which is normal for an original since they need to draw people in to watching it. Not bad, the premise is interesting and I was entertained, but originals are dangerous because they could either be masterpieces or complete wastes of time. Might watch more but unlikely unless people start saying this is like the next Made in Abyss or gurren lagann. We’ll see.
Takt Op. Destiny – I believe another original show that is basically journey’s across the USA from west to east with the main objective being that party to to New York for some reason. The show itself takes place in like an alternate reality USA where monsters attacked and only people who have the ability to play/make music can power kinda magical girls and such since in this world, music is like magic and is rare. I suppose you can say it’s a bit similar to like Fate, Masters control servants to fight; in this shit, we have conductors that control/provide power to musicians/artists/performers which just so happen are just magical fighting girls/warriors. The main party is a conductor dude, a blonde musician girl and some other unknown women. They travel across the USA in some 70’s piece of shit car visiting diners and stuff and fight shit on their way to new york. The animation for an original show is high because it has to and while the premise is interesting, there’s ultimately not enough here to warrant more watching unless once again this ends up being like the hottest shit, highly unlikely to watch more. Pass.
Shin no Nakama – A fantasy world, a hero is kicked out of his party because he has become just not good enough and a liability to his peers, especially when their goal is to go defeat the demon lord, while still a powerful knight/sword dude, he acknowledges that his weapon is carrying him as it’s pretty OP whereas while everyone has gotten stronger during their journey, he has remained the same and has to be rescued in battle frequently by his younger sister, the strongest of the party. Some asshole wizard in his party tells him for the good of the party, he should quit and while reluctant, he agrees and thus ends his yusha days and leaves in the night without telling anyone else, even his sister. Some months time skip has passed and the former hero is living a quiet live in a small town in the edge of nowhere where he is making a new peaceful life as a pharmacist because he has inherent good skills to make drugs and forage plants and herbs and shit. Some other knight girl shows up at the tavern to do quests and shit and hears about the pharmacist since the rumors that he was once a hero are buzzing in the town. They meet and exchange pleasantries show end. This show is not bad, it’s pretty chill but another pharmacist again? Getting kinda old, unless this is the best shit ever, unlikely to watch more.
Puraore! Pride of Orange – It finally happened, an anime about cute girls and hockey, not just hockey, hockey idols! wow, add this one to the list of anime you would never have thought existed but it does now. The show itself follows a familiar school/club setting with a bunch of girls seemingly normal that like to do knitting and crafts somehow ends up trying out for a free hockey lesson at the local rink and while still noob, the main girl ends up very exited and loves it, so does her friends. I’m sure that they will eventually find more members and make up a real hockey team eventually overseen by their female coach which for some reason appears to be a former idol or does dance or something. The beginning of the show makes it clear that it is a hockey show as they preview, what I am assuming the future final goal, the girls playing against team Canada cause Canada is good at hockey, which then suddenly cuts to them winning and then all the girls in idol clothes dancing and shit, lol wut. The girls remind me a lot of love live, the character designs and even the color/hair color/personality distribution is almost exactly the same as love live, at least one of the generations. Not bad, but we’ll see, it’s got cute girls, it has hockey, idol element, it’s hard for me to not ignore this one, even though it will probably be just alright or not end satisfyingly. Try to watch more.
Muv-Luv Alternative – The acclaimed visual novel spinoff space drama story finally gets an anime and while I am not familiar with any of the characters or the source material I can tell there is much to be interested about in this show. From what I see from the first episode, it’s kind of a prologue before the actual story begins and sets the stage for things to come, with some alien invasion and history world building about how earth is ruined and japan is one of the last fighting spots against the alien invaders. The monsters attack the base and all the people are killed brutally even though the defending with mecha girls and guys try their best but are forced to retreat. Many die and it’s fairly graphic, more than usual, which is an asset as it reminds me of Titan i suppose. Some young girl is found to be the only survivor and the forces all leave the base, which then I assume is for a further time jump to where the actual story begins. The production quality is pretty high and it seems interesting, I might give this another watch since I do know it’s source material is highly acclaimed, but we’ll see as mecha tend to be a mixed bag. Maybe.
Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire – 3dcg chinese anime. chinese audio. hard pass, closed this shit the moment i heard the first few chinese lines in the opening, which is literally like 30 seconds in. No. Looks gay anyways. Isn’t this shit banned in china tho?
Mushoku Tensei – Jobless re-incarnation continues and it keeps up the good shit from the previous season, leaving off with Rudeus and his new green haired demon friend and red-haired waifu girl on a journey to return home after being teleported away suddenly. Some shit happen and they are stuck, they introduce an ex-machina little demon princess which is animated extremely well and so out of place for the rest of the style of animation and tone for this show that it’s kinda jokes, which I’m sure is intended. After helping Rudeus, he like just goes away and yea, lol, the story can progress I guess. This show is dope, still one of the hottest shit of this year and I look forward to what this story has to offer on Rudeus’s journey to greatness. Great animation, story, pacing and girls. Will watch more for sure.
Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru – Long anime show names have become a staple of the anime light novel industry for quite some time and this one’s literal translation is along the lines of “The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in a Different World as an Aristocrat” which is so literal that you hardly need a summary, it kinda explains itself lol. So yea, this is another isekai with the first half of the episode showing a somewhat fantasy/modernist world where a bunch of people are undercover trying to stop girls being sold for slaves a la Taken, and one of the girls to be sold is an assassin and just as she was to be sold, she busts out her magical gun and weapons and starts killing the patrons and wants to stop the big boss of the operation, another girl shows up and does the same. Outside the mansion is the main boy with a magical sniper rifle waiting for the perfect time. At that moment the show goes into flashback mode of the original form of the pro assassin boy, an old man assassin in our regular normal human world and tells the story of his last job, and his betrayal just before he dies and subsequent bargain with the god that decides to reincarnate him with his existing memories into a new world. The quality of this show is very high and the designs are quite good, very crisp and clean, rich colors and the girls very shiny and cute with excellent smooth animation. This show is pretty good, will try to watch more and see how it goes. It may get shit later on but there’s enough here to warrent further investments in time.
Kaginado – Mini show featuring super deformed chibi comic joke segments from key/visual-arts characters from Air, Clannad, Kanon, Little Busters etc. Cute but not really worth the time unless you really really like these shows/characters. Pass
Deep Insanity – The Lost Child – The name of this show is hilarious. Shit man, DEEP INSANITY? THE LOST CHILD? FUCK. LOL. Too bad it’s a shit show based off what I can only assume is a mobile game or other media venture that isn’t all that appealing. Some space shit monsters stuff, send people to fight them in a very deep crater because it’s like made in abyss but not really, create crew of characters, fight, main boy does shit cause he wants to yusha it up etc. First kill, he gets it. The End. Next, this show is boring and as a first episode it’s terrible so despite it’s boss name, it’s s a shit show with absolutely nothing worth noting expect the name itself. Nope.
Ancient Girls Frame – A show that for all intensive purposes looks alright, it’s got cute looking girls, decent character design and animation, nice name for a show, nice mecha school premise, but then all of a sudden you hear the audio…Chinese. Hard pass, which is a shame because maybe for once a Chinese anime would be decent, but no, not allowed by my watch. Apparently there is a Japanese dub for this show but for some reason the version uploaded to subs please uploaded is the Chinese audio version, which is…kinda strange to be honest. Nope.
Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. – This is a netflix show so I was a bit skeptical but turns out this is not bad. The basic premise is simple, Komi is a beautiful girl at school and everything thinks that she’s popular and elegant but the reality of the matter is that she can’t communicate, like at all, she has deep anxiety and fear of talking in public and has suffered because she is afraid of being judged by people and peers. Main boy is just a boy and thinks komi is beautiful/cool too but wants to get to know her so when he tried to communicate with her, she just ran out. After some shit, he figures out that she can’t speak and ends up communicating with her on the chalkboard after class, and they talk in writing for all time. It’s an interesting show that has pretty good animation and flow despite the fact that the premise has been done before by many other different anime’s before it possibly. The character design however looks kinda oldschooly and dated 80’s or even 90’s style, which just kinda odd when it’s paired with such good animation. Not bad, a but a slice of life, more drama/relationship/humor comedy but we’ll see. If this is the hottest shit then maybe watch more, if not, then probably pass. Not bad.
Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu – Shit show about a vampire that is too weak that dies temporarily into dust from being pushed or stubs his foot on a rock and some shit and some dumb vampire hunter that ends up becoming his bro/all the while trying to just live. The show itself very much wants to be a gag anime but you know that since there is two male dudes, this is indirect gay bait for women even tho both look like shit and is totally not meant to be gay, like the vampire guy has purple skin and is the pristine archetype of a bootleg comic Dracula. Shitty gags, poor flow and a decent premise that fails to meets it’s description on being funny. Shit show, next.
Ousama Ranking – An interesting show about a retarded little child that is apparently a prince of some kindgom but in town everyone makes fun of him because he probably has aspergers or some other learning/communication disability/deaf and can only speak in toned articulated grunts and yawns. Make no mistake, he is a retarded kid, also physically small like a midget so it’s easy to dismiss this boy to be one of the heirs to the throne. One day he is bullied by some weird monster blob/shadow monster thing and basically mugs him of his clothes cause he wants to sell it, and tells him to come back every day to do the same thing. And of course our special needs child does exactly that, all the while after his daily mugging, he ends up walking back to the castle naked with a wide grin and smile to his face, seemingly completely ignorant/obliviousness to the town people laughing and making fun of him. This goes one for some days or so and the shadow monsters actually begins to feel sorry for the retarded child and ends up following him to the castle, not knowing that he is a prince. Some shit happen and the shadow monster actually sees the retarded child crying once he’s back in the castle, apparently he does have feelings after all and understands; he’s just been holding it all in. More shit happen and our retarded child, shows that he is actually good in battle or at least dodging sword strikes and ends up beating this other rival prince in a sparring match, proving that he’s not that retarded after all. For a show that looks like it’s targeted for kids with very non-traditional anime character designs, it’s actually pretty entertaining with points of comedy and self internal suffering, which I am for. The style of art used is so different, it can easily be mistaken for a western made show, it’s that far away from standard anime character aesthetics as you can be. Not bad, I wouldn’t mind watching more but we’ll see, not a priority but if this shit ends up being good, more likely.
Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shoujo – A hybrid joke/mecha/gag/harem anime that basically involves a future where in japan anime and games have been outlawed and moved into the underground scene, with game makers and creators nostalgic for the good old days. Akihabara is a shadow of it’s former otaku self with host clubs and bars taking over the district town since anime and fandom was banned. Our main boy, is a host that works as one of these establishments and is just tired of putting on his fake popular persona because in truth he’s an otaku and misses the good old days of anime and gundam and shit. Some shit happens while he is at work and a group of alien? invaders attack Akihabara with cat-lion mecha shaped robots things. As the town burns he sees another blue mech which tries to fight the enemies but fails horribly, all the while a girl’s voice yelling from the downed mech is all depressed and shit in a comical gag manner. The host boy opens up the cockpit and there is no one inside, he gets in and the shit turns on then a little super deformed cute AI girl shows up on his VR headset and welcomes him telling him she is the battery. After some chatter to the AI girl, they share a moment reminiscing a famous line from a anime back in the day, and the AI girl tells him in order to power the mech he needs to accept the feelings that he has long forgotten/suppressed, the love of fantasy and escapism; there is a childhood flashback of him looking happy while holding a gunpla model; “I love gundam” is what i wanted to hear from this moment but you get the idea. Lest to say this powered up the mech and they are able to defeat the enemy with his reawakened passion. He tags along with the mecha crew and finds out the AI is actually a real girl that pops out in the plug tube from the back of the mech like eva because of course it does. The show itself has variable tones but it definitely is supposed to be more fun than any kind of serious drama/mecha show to be taken seriously. Nice cute girl, funny premise, nice character designs, a non-hateable main boi, decent mech designs, I like this show, will try to watch more if I can.
Shinka no Mi – Shiranai Uchi ni Kachigumi Jinsei – This show is basically a much dumber version of most harem comedy isekai show’s except the main premise is that the main boy is originally a smelly gross fat bastard student that ends up not successfully making in to the other world with the rest of his class because it requires being in groups/pairs and he had no friends to successfully complete the ritual, so now being all alone the reincarnation god pities him and gives him a few more benefits than most but is otherwise isekied regardless alone. He ends up essentially the same in the new world but ends up just eating alot of random shit; he ends up killing some high level mobs with his bad breath and BO, “knowledge apes” big brain monsters which drops evolution fruit and eats a ton of it. Without realizing it, he slowly incrementally gets evolved and powered up. The evolution fruits makes his base stats powered up, like FGO fous or pokemon drugs you give to pokemon, you get the idea, even tho he is still level 1. After a few weeks of barely surviving in the wild jungle world, and thanks to the magic fruit he looses weight and is now a normal looking guy instead of a fat smelly bastard. He then encounters the leader of the knowledge apes, a giant pink gorilla that wants to battle him for revenge but ends up liking him because the leader is actually a girl and ‘loves strong guys’. Some mild dumb battle happen and yea, the battle continues on at the end of the ep. The very first scene of this show shows a naked pink haired girl fawning over the boy after being defeated in battle, so it’s heaviliy implied that the pink gorilla turns into the girl; that, or it’s the biggest headfake ever and there is actually no humanoid girls but just monsters and literally beasts that befriends the guy as part of his harem. lol. that would be something. Either way, this show is weak in general with poor character designs and a generic yet still somehow unlikable main character; it has yet to be seen if the pink gorilla turns into a cute girl but the likelihood that it does, is high. Pass regardless.
This season has alot of shit, after a very weak and light summer season, probably due to Olympics, lots of good shows make their appearance in the fall. Nothing here is particularly bad except the Chinese anime but there are a number of really good sequels and solid new shows that are definitely worth some time and interest. Good shit and good volume, the most shows I think in awhile.
