Today we decided to be a bit more adventurous and try going somewhere outside of Tokyo region, that place is Enoshima island; a popular day trip spot for locals and others who want a nice change of scenery. This subway is packed as we left in rush hour.
This nice schoolgirl wearing a spongbob squarepants keychain was interesting to me, I guess people like western cartoons here too, just like how in the west we like anime. You don’t see it here but there was a lot of struggle and hardship getting to Enoshima such as the train breaking down, changing lines and then us missing our station to get off, having to backtrack of and being lied to by google maps. Least to say, it took us over double the amount of time it would normally take. Pain.
After overcoming numerous setbacks and struggles we finally made it onto the island at like 1:40pm-ish I think. Shit, that’s like all the morning wasted on travel and getting here. Pain. This bronze gate signifies going into the main island space.
One of the main local attractions is this pressed seafood Senbei using either prawn or octopus. Super packed and such but at least the ordering is done via vending machine ticket. Noice.
And here it is, I got the prawn pressed senbei and it looks pretty cool. There is no actually meat however, it’s just the shell of the prawn, but it still looks cool. A bit too salty for my tastes however, which is saying something since I like salty foods.
And here is the octopus version, quite a nice pattern indeed. It almost looks like fabric or some shit. Noice. Most people were getting the tako.
The views on the island are very beautiful but you have to work for it. I mean, you REALLY have to work for it, climbing stairs, hills and such. Even though they offer a paid elevators to go to the top of the island, you can’t avoid going up very steep stairs if you want to see all the areas that the island have to offer. The suffering and struggle of us with our out of shape and weak flabby bodies is real.
We are heading to the cave segment part of the island with great seaside views, look at those stairs, you go down, and also have to climb up manually, there is no alternative really.
Ace rocks and scenery by the ocean fr fr.
This is a nice picture but behind that smiling face is pain and suffering. Just finished the cave section. It was really cool but honestly the work to get there was probably not worth the effort for most people. Either way, we did it.
This is a nice picture but behind that smiling face is pain and suffering. Gotta do that Scarborough “S” you know to represent.
After our long ass day at Enoshima and getting back to Akihabara station, we find that they all of a sudden have this popup shop setup. Could not resist the allure of catshark and ebicat. Too strong.
We went to Royal Host for dinner, one of the many other family restaurant chains in Japan and it was pretty swank. My sister’s meal consisting of various steak and hamburger fare, good shit. Tasty.
My meal had like steak, chicken steak and shrimp and a variety of other sides like mashed potatoes, kale salad such. Pretty fancy looks and tasted great.
So yea, after this we did some more crane games and got some gacha prior, it’s something that you kinda have to end the day off with when your hotel is in Akihabara.
Overall, Enoshima island was quite a struggle and journey, which for us, just bad luck and timing, and being bad at climbing stairs didn’t help. The train travel messing up for us didn’t help either; but if you like the kind of scenery and ocean-side views of an island mountain, Enoshima may be for you, more so if you are fit and ready for a challenge.
We could have died today. The struggle and pain was real, hidden behind our smiling jolly faces.
Oh boy, probably going to take it easy tomorrow and try to recover our battered and bruised bodies/minds.
