I took a lot of pictures in Japan. I made a post earlier in this year called “Godly Photos” showing what I consider the best of the best of my trip. I said that I would have a Godly Photos II sometime this year. This is that post. As I mentioned in the first post, photos there only covered up to the end of our trip at Tokyo/Enoshima island. This group of photos representing the remaining of the trip to Osaka, Kyoto and back to Tokyo again. So yea, without further ado, let’s continue the “best of the best”.
When we got off our shinkansen train to Osaka we had some time before our hotel was ready. We bummed around a bit and even hung around at a supermarket and brought pondorings and shit. We ended up passing by this small local park with a very nice cherry blossom viewing going on. This particular scene is interesting because the blue tarp remains, meaning not to long ago, people were chilling there. Nice tree in bloom too.
After resting up in the hotel for a bit we went out and headed to one of Osakas main landmarks, Tsutenkaku Tower. This scene is beautiful because the city and the illuminated buildings beginning to turn on and the contrast to the McDonald sign on the left with many fully masked people still in view to a fading blue sky.
For similar reason like the previous photos, this photo captures the Tsutenkaku Tower in full in contrast to the sumo gaudy osaka buildings on display at night. Pretty nice, would print and frame.
Despite my best efforts and alot of photos taken during that previous night at Dontonburi and other night scenes in Osaka, all turned out not that good, either blurry or just not in focus. Maybe because I was dying, who knows. Guess my phone is not well suited to night shots, I mean, it is almost 3-4 years old now, man. So the next Godly photo then is of the next day, when we returned to this area except with a more vertical shot of the tower and more clear view of the area and bright blue sky.
I like this shot for a variety of reasons, one being that it shows a regular ass building in the middle of a main tourist street and the fact that everyone inside is playing shogi. The real main reason however is because I remember this place was shown in the shogi anime “The Ryuo’s Work Is Never Done!” when the main guy and his mini harem of girls went to visit Osaka and picked up another girl to join his mini harem at this place where she played. Wow, anime is real.
I love taking pictures of shopping streets because they really capture that particular moment in time. Even better if they have signs and people looking around visibly. This one the main focal point is the little boy looking at some shit and his mom in masks which contrasts the white guy on the right and further ahead the bunch of dudes. Interesting to look at.
Just like before, I like taking pictures of moments in time, and what other time sensitive moment is when on the train/subway going somewhere. No businessman in suits in the photo, it really gives a sense of the more chill lax nature in Osaka, especially so with the brown family sitting on the left and the older women on the right in masks. Nice contrast with that plush subway seating too.
I believe this was taken in a large shopping mall/complex; Namba Parks I think which is more upscale rich brands kind of thing. Despite being in the city and on top a mall complex, they have quite a lot of sitting green space which the locals seem to use quite a bit it.
A moment in time, this time, inside a Lashingbang second hand anime goods store. You can see a whole lot of goods at the time being sold for a lower price and the guy checking out is our main point of focus. I wonder what goods he is looking for?
On the way/in Den Den town, Osaka’s version of Akihabara street is a collection of various Anime and Otaku goods stores but among the area, you gotta eat still and here is the somewhat iconic Turkish donner kabob place selling a variety of Turkish food items, not just delicious donner. I think he was talking to the Japanese youths or something about trying his Turkish ice-cream/yogurt thing. Wow. A moment in time.
Everywhere you go, there is arcades and Taito Stations. You cannot escape them, they are everywhere and I love it.
This old man preparing/locking up his bike on the street is peak moment in time, especially with the mask on. Really drives home that covid times were still a thing even in March/April.
Some time later that day we went back to the busy streets for the night to see it lit up. I am not entirely sure what street this was but it looks cool with the mini giant crab on the right and mainly vertical signs on the left.
City scenes on street level are great, especially when one building has a giant target mark on it and every building seems to be lit up. Really busy here.
Now this the actual giant crab I think going to Dontonburi, one of Osaka’s landmarks for tourists and all. I really like the lighting and population density in this photo, it really shows everyone doing their own thing, waiting, talking, walking, just chilling. Nice city shot.
Godly photo because you just can’t escape gachapon shops. Always busy with tourists and locals alike. This particular one was huge, so many and many different ones I’ve never seen before. Good shit.
A nice lit building. I kind of reminds me of the kabuki building but I don’t think this is it. Too small, either way, nice lighting.
Similar photo from earlier but vertical, with the full Tsutenkaku Tower in view in a more direct up front frame scene. Once again, nice people in the shot wearing masks to show the times. It should be noted that while it looks nice, going up Tsutenkaku Tower is not worth it, both the wait and the view are shit, save your money for something else or another view.
We begin our day trip to Osaka at the Nishiki Market in the early morning. So early in fact that most shops and stores haven’t even opened yet and are just setting up. Despite us having to wait a bit for food to appear, nice empty street shots like this are great, something that you don’t get to see unless early morning or at night.
This shop and it’s array of barrel food goods is quite pleasing to the eye, both in arrangement and presentation. The fact that all don’t have any English signs means that this is really intended for locals shopping for product, not tourists, which is interesting to see still even in a highly tourist shopping street.
Don’t know much about this guy or his shop but he sold fried chicken on a stick, something that I can’t really resist, especially if other tourists are going for it as well. The fact that his shop is open and exposed is cool, you can see his kitchen and even his motorcycle just chilling in there too.
This food stall area is pretty much just made for tourists and visitors but it’s still cool to eat and look up at the balloon lanterns.
Likewise, this photos is more of the same but with the main focal point being the white guy with the backpack and the stall seller looking outwards to the exiting tourists. Noice moment in time and nice bright lanterns.
Nice photo of a Wendy’s in Japan, better yet, having a white guy and his daughter walk by looking at it. The randos in this photo for some reason are especially interesting, most notably the guy in green hoodie and girl in corduroy.
Ahh yea boi that’s the shit. So good landscape of river city road scene with people walking on it; blue skies. Shit you only see in Japanese movies and anime, awwyeaboi, godly even more so because in the distance you can see cherry blossoms too. Good shit. Frame worthy.
The blue skies, the motorcycle, the transit train and the taxi all in one photo with the nice street distance perspective, ah yea nice shit. Blue skies. Life in Kyoto huh, seems chill.
Awww yea boi, that’s the shit, so good. At some festival with food stalls on the side background, got some little girl and her mom walking down the steps as focal point with mask on. Old guy on the left with mask slacking covering with the women on the right, ah yea, this is good shit. Would frame, perfect picture of a moment and the times. Godly.
I believe this is in Yasaka Shrine. I only visited here in the night when it was like raining too, it made for cool photos back in 2014. While this is just as a nice photo, being not lit doesn’t quite make it as good, although he blue skies and clarity are superior.
Holy shit this is godly. Lone women walking alone on some side paved street with big cherry blossoms in bloom, the stairs on the right and general scene composition. Chefs kiss.
Awwyeahboi, this is going up the hill to go to the Kiyomizu Shrine. Look at that those nice buildings, people and perspective. That green tree at the top is really nice.
On the way to the best part of Kiyomizu Shrine, nice blue skies and red buildings contrast the stone/concrete structures. Good shit.
Awwwwyeaaaboiii that’s the shit. Godly pure true. Look at those trees, the mountains in the back, the colors and vibrancy and the level of detail of the foliage. Godly.
Whoa whoa whoa, more trees and green shit? Of course, I came all the way here to Kyoto to take nice photos of green shit, this is awesome colors man.
Oh yea boi, look at that nice Kiyomizu temple shrine. Nice and renovated, the last time I was here in 2014 it was still under renovation, not today and it looks great with an excellent view as one can see. Godly.
Super green, nice colors and trees and the nice buildings on the bottom left, wow. Mountains too. Good shit.
Yas, dis one gud. Excellent foreground with the red plants and tree on the left, in the far distance, more trees but then city, Kyoto, and then mountains and then blue sky. Aw shit this is nice.
Three bibs on rocks. Nuff said. Godly.
Awww shitttt, the river, the stuff in the river the pedals falling. Cherry blossoms and the vibrant green trees. Oh shittt postcard frame worthy.
Sun is beginning to set and we walk by the river and the path. There is people walking their dogs and shit and just chilling. Nice perspective.
Same location but now on ground level. The mosquitoes/flies/bugs were beginning to fly around but the scene is just so nice, with the river, buildings and the setting sun in the backdrop. Gud shit.
This pathway with cherry blossoms are very nice. The peach like sunset also blends in nicely into the scenery. The distant pedestrians add to the ambience.
Awwyeah, the reflections of the buildings on the water. The people just living their lives jogging walking their dog to the setting sun. Just another day in Japan daily life.
The setting of the sun, perfectly aligned to the bridge perspective vanishing point, the people walking on the bridge, the reflections, the oranage sky, buildings trees. Godly. It’s like The Scream, but inverse.
Peaceful calm river with the light just turning on, nice and warm, homely my home town vibes and feel. Not a soul in sight, good shit.
In our mad lad insanity we got to to the Fushimi Inari shrine, aka the torii gates. The only people left here are obviously tourists. The super blue sky seems almost unnatural but it’s real.
One of the many red buildings in the shrine. The blue skies slowly get darker and darker while the shrines get brighter.
Taking a look back from the main entrance you see the path we walked to get here. Nice framing within the gates and the mountains.
I took alot of photos in the torri gates but none were that good except for maybe this one, barely qualifying as Godly. If my phone camera was better at night this would truly be godly.
After a long day of sightseeing in Kyoto we went to this ace famous Curry Udon place in Kyoto. This photo is excellent man, so good.
Inside the restaurant we see the nice standing booths, the plastic dividers and the general ambience, good shit for a moment in time photo.
Look how chill these people are in this subway photo, I like it because for once there is like no one visible really standing, everyone is chill, even with the legs spread out so much. A point in time photo.
Ah yea boi, even tho we are winding down to the ladder end half of the trip our we had a nice big lunch at this Coco Ichiban curry, our first of the trip from this franchise. The building exterior itself is very nice and the man in front walking adjusting his mask gives adds lots to frame the moment.
Ace shot of a nice empty street with nice signage on the street. Very clean and nice framing the distant lighting of the buildings is great.
I believe this was during our stroll in the kitchen and cooking shopping district in Osaka known as Sennichimae Doguyasuji. This corner shot is great because of the gaudy store selling signs and lanterns and the two intersecting streets, it’s like your standing there, right now; observing.
We sat down here to rest since everyone was doing so as well but the reason they were sitting was mainly because they needed a place to sit down to eat the takoyaki from the store on the left. The interesting thing about this photos is the people in front of me, most notable the girl and the elderly people all seemingly to be looking at the same spot/thing which also guides your eye to take a look at the photo more and figure out what they might be looking at. What do you think they are looking at?.
Another great moment in time of this okonomiyaki restaurant with some guy standing outside with his phone and a couple walking by, with the man looking at me, oh shit, noticed. Excellent a moment in time kind of photo.
Going to dontonburi during the day is very different than at night, much less fanfare and no shiny lights obviously but it’s still a great view of the place regardless. Too bad I couldn’t get any decent looking photos of this worthy of being Godly at night however.
The last godly photo in Osaka is once again dontonburi street with the nice buildings with takoyaki and octopus storefronts but in the day. The large amount of tourists and people in front give a good sense that this is the place to be in Osaka for sightseeing. The women and man in the front taking a photo of their takoyaki as the main focal point gives off a very strong “sammmeee”.
Back in Tokyo in Akihabara, this is on one of the upper floors of Yodobashi camera for lunch at this nice looking cafe/bar kind of retro setting place. The fact that there is no one else here other than that one guy and the women server is definitely a ambient vibe and mood as we wait for our own food. Godly shit.
There is lots of capsule stores everywhere, I can’t remember for sure where this one was but it was a newer one and was nice and clean and not that populated. The ambient lighting in the distance which gets lighter to me is great as well as the perspective. The fact you can see the hololive gacha machine is bonus and the fact that no one else is in the scene. Godly.
On the building floor where we had Shogun burger, can’t remember which shopping complex/plaza they had a whole bunch of food and restraunt places. This one in particular is very nice looking and pretty called MENGEKI SAKABA AKIHABARA location, which serve ramen and other noodle soup dishes. I did not eat here but it seems nice, looks great in fact however. Godly photo of ordering and excellent store sign.
Walking around Akihabara in one of the last days and I see some school kids. Wow, worthy of a moment in time ace godly photo. You can spend a considerable amount of time looking at this photo, the kids, their shoes, their hair, heights and then there’s the city street and other pedestrians. Good shit.
HobbyOff/BookOff is a large second hand goods store which sell pre-owned goods from old video games, VHS machines, anime goods and yes, replica rifles and guns. The nice bright sign the guns on the wall and the women and customer checking out just add to this surreal moment in time photo. Godly.
Surugaya is another used good store which mainly sells old games, dvds, books and other pre owned anime goods. Most of these kinds of used goods store is slightly off the main street in Akihabara so it’s interesting to see one like this. The people walking about it and browsing outside the bins is also a mood. The fact that it’s right beside APA hotel is interesting too.
A wonderful moment in time photo not far off from our first hotel in Akihabara and the station itself. The main focus here being the Namco and decks arcade/crane game place at the corner. Noteworthy is the sign that just so happen to show the latest Gundam VS series. The sun beginning to come down and with the street still bustling with activity is great. Good shit.
The last photo of Godly photos is funnily enough at the airport, a display in a snack/gift store showing curry Pringles and curry Jagabee, both very tasty snacks only found in Japan and at the airport, lest imported of course. A excellent moment in time since it also shows clearly the prices for a great sense of the cost of things in 2023.
And with that, that ends Part II of Japan 2023 Godly photos, covering the full entirely of my trip to Japan in 2023. I think I’m good now. I’ve fully captured the full range of godly ace photos in Japan. Although it’s highly unlikely, I might post a “jokes” or “WTF” post showing some of the more bizzare or awkward things seen during my trip but probably not. I should probably do a “Godly Photos” post as well based off all the cool photos I took from my trip to NYC so that might take precedence. Well then, at least I got this done in 2023 before the year is over at least lol.
