I have been writing these seasonal anime reviews for a long time, I think in some capacity, I have done this for basically a decade now with the earliest iteration of mai opinions/reviews being post dated to Fall Anime 2013, in like Skype chat or MSN messenger or whatever app chat thing everyone was using at the time and re-posted here for the sake of memory as I only started this blog site in like 2014-2015 I think? The state of anime has changed considerably and I am getting more and more lazy writing semi-coherent summaries for anime that can be summed up as largely “gay” or “isekai trash” or “shit show”. While I still want to write my thoughts on some shows for the season, I think this year I want to try something different and go back to my roots like giving just a sentence or two for half decent shows, while shittier shows, I will only offer a few or even a single word, such as “gay”. I think one day I might just get to the point of only commenting on decent shows that I am currently watching as these review posts come later and later in the season but we’ll see. In any regards, let’s see what we have this season.

Hime-sama Goumon no Jikan desu –  A pretty nice chill comedy show about a captured fantasy princess who gets tortured by the demon lords minions but the torture is mainly dumb shit and is actually fun stuff, such as not allowing her to eat cake or play video games. Jokes show, watching.

Dosanko Gal wa Namara Menkoi – Can be summed up as Nagatoro in snowy Hokkaido but the main girl is a blonde gal who has a romanticized view of big city living in Tokyo and the new transfer student that came in is just some dumb shit. Pass, there is better.

Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru – Edgelord romantic comedy where some demon guys starts living in the human world undercover but ends up liking a girl in his class who ends up being their arch enemy, an angel. Not bad premise but seem generic pass.

Akuyaku Reijou Level 99 – Head fake isekai show which tricks you thinking the main story is generic as fuck but the main character is revealed to be the main villain girl as one of those I am the villainness type isekai shows which is not bad but it’s been done so much it’s forgettable. Pass from me.

Gekai Elise – Reverse isekai show about a girl from a fantasy world dies as a princess but ends up being reborn in the modern world, only to grow up becoming a surgeon and then die in a plane crash only to be reincarnated again back into her original fantasy world. Interesting premise but it’s still basically the same isekai formula, pass.

Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete – Excellent magical girl show full of uncensored naked boobs and butts full of fan service and degeneracy with the main girl being a girl who loves magical girls but ends up becoming a villain and ends up subjecting her beloved magical girls to all sorts of lewd punishment BDSM gags and conduct during and after besting them in battle. Dis show is great, currently watching.

Sengoku Youko – Male fubuki white haired shrine fox god and some girl. Pass.

30-sai made Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni Nareru Rashii – 30 year old virgin man gains wizard powers when he turns 30 and his ability is that he can read minds of people he comes into contact with and discovers that his coworker is gay and loves him, and also realizes that he is gay too but tries to resist it. Super gay.

Metallic Rouge – An original sci-fi kind of cyberpunk original anime that kind of features ultraman like suits of armor or cyborgs, the main girl is the title character and is some kind of vigilante or something, also paired up with some dark skinned white haired girl. Looks interesting but original shows are risky, pass unless people say it’s amazing.

Mato Seihei no Slave – Ultimate simp anime about some guy who ends up helping fight some secret society police force that fights demons or something in modern japan and the only way he can help is if he becomes a slave to a girl in which he becomes some beast mode monster in which she can ride onto and fight the beasts. Trash tier garbage that tries too hard to cater to simps.

Gekkan Mousou Kagaku – Some bullshit trash shit about some guy and doing bullshit.

Sokushi Cheat – School bus gets isekaied into another world and everyone gets powers and becomes assholes, kind of hunger games, main guy gets a power that he can make anything just die if he wanted to, hence the cheat skill. Isekai trash only for imaginative edgelords.

Yuuki Bakuhatsu Bang Bravern – Original mecha anime show that pays homage to old school mecha anime but has very attractive and cute female/girl character designs for some reason, as if it’s like a slice of life chill but it’s not as the main guy is whatever shit. Not Gundam, don’t care.

Majo to Yajuu – Something about vampires or demon beasts and some girl that has the soul of some demon king or some shit i dunno. Edgelord show for no one.

Sasaki to Pii-chan – A very weird show about a salary-man ending up being isekaied and gets a pet bird that can talk that has magic and ends up learning magic too but at the same time, still lives in both worlds like nothing and is also recruited to a esper agency to fight espers in the modern regular world. Crazy show that is kind of everywhere with so many different plotlines but has pretty cute girls and interesting premise, will watch more.

Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha – Hero guy dies but becomes a skeleton warrior instead and is now op and on a journey for whatever. Hello bootleg Overlord kinda, pass.

Saijaku Tamer wa Gomi Hiroi no Tabi wo Hajimemashita – An interesting show where the main girl has another person who was isekaied into her body when she was born and they both co-exist and live in the fantasy world but the problem is she has no real power and can only tame low level monsters like slimes, this is a story of the girls struggles and survival in a world where she is weak. Despite it’s questionable and generic sounding premise, this show is pretty good as it’s quality and animation are very good, will watch more.

Sousou no Frieren – Best show of 2023 continues into 2024 and shit’s still good. Not sure if I will consider it as a 2024 show and have it listed in my end year rankings but we’ll see.

Chiyu Mahou no Machigatta Tsukaikata – Guy get’s isekaied into another world with friends and ends up being pro at healing magic which everyone pretends he doesn’t have because healing magic is extreme and leads him down the path of insanity and ruin. Nope.

Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji – Girl inherits some mansion in the forest and it’s inhabited by spirits and gods and male fubuki fox god white haired guy again. Pass only for women/girls.

Snack Basue – Low budget trash show about weird people who operate a snack bar in japan.

Kekkon Yubiwa Monogatari – Some generic shit that ends up becoming a harem of monster/demon girls with the main boi being a simp for childhood friend or something. Nop.

Yubisaki to Renren – Slice of life relationship drama show with the main girl being deaf and the main guy being some white haired guy from Canada, wow. Pass, interesting concept but pass.

Bucchigiri – Retarded bullshit I have no idea.

Solo Leveling – Massively over hyped Korean propaganda show that doesn’t deserve any attention, completely forgettable but only exists because of Korean simps that is basically the Korean version of Gate, with a portal to another world opening up and demons and modern world fighting or some shit. Pass, don’t want to see another Tower of Simp again.

Saikyou Tank no Meikyuu Kouryaku – Ultimate shield tank guy level 9999 guy gets kicked out of the hero’s party and ends up just giving up and going back to his hometown to have a simple life, but thinking he was so shit, some girl that has appraisal tells him that he is actually OP with defense and so he does some bullshit instead. Whatever, way to many shield people in anime lately.

Isekai de Mofumofu Nadenade suru Tame ni Ganbattemasu – Women dies from overwork and gets isekaied reborn into a fantasy world with the ability to understand and befriend all animals which may or may not include humans. Pass.

7th Time Loop – Princess gets banished from her ex-fiancee and ends up on a different path in life and ends up becoming a trader of goods, but ends up dying a few years later due to some other countries king invasion and war; every time she dies she ends up being transported back to the moment of her banishment and tries several different paths in life but each still end with her death, after her seventh run she ends up meeting the other country king and end up becoming a thing or something. Interesting premise although not unique to time loop stories in general, pass.

Meiji Gekken 1874 – Some semi-period historical show based off nothing and is whatever. Pass.

Kyuujitsu no Warumono-san – Alien demon guy is tasked to destroy the earth but ends up living like a normal demon elf guy in Japan and treats it like a job to destroy the earth and ends up liking cute things like Pandas and shit at the zoo while the power rangers fight them during their job but they are alright with him when he’s no on duty. Nice premise but done before, pass, mainly for women.

Delicious in Dungeon – A not bad show about eating dungeon monster creatures as the main hero tries to venture in the dungeon to save his sister taken/eaten by a dragon. Mainly popular because it’s made by Netflix and easily accessible to normies who limited exposure to anime but it’s still decent, despite being about food, has some slow pacing issues in my opinion and less that desirable visual character designs. Will watch more but we’ll see.

And there we have it, wasn’t that a lot quicker and smooth brain? Yea boi, maybe shorter is better and raw. This season has lots of stuff to watch and carry overs from the past season but I think the top standout new show is Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete and the slime girl. Frieren is still very good and let’s see how far it gets in it’s popularity and hope for more seasons in the future.
