Alright let’s do this, it’s here finally, our summer trip for 2026 which means a return to Vancouver and then after a couple of days of getting revenge for past failure of AniRevo last year, off to a cruise to Alaska, a very ambitious trip but let’s see how our day 0 of this journey begins.
Get dropped off at airport at like 5:30-6am I can’t remember but even then it’s still kinda busy still. It’s long weekend after all I guess.
We board at like 6:30am. Not pictured here is our quick breakfast of A&W not sausage and eng mcMuffins, they were ok.
The plane this time was a lot smaller than usual but it had some of the newest seat renovations for a AC plane, i mean they were more comfy and the ports now include a USB-C input cable, which is know more modern these days.
The majority of the 4.5-5 hour flight was chill, I think I slept for like a third of it then just spend another third kinda listening to music on my device via earbuds and the last hour or so just looking at the flight travel map display thing. It was alright. AC didn’t give us any noteworthy food, just drinks and some cookie things, which is a bit odd but who knows, they getting cheaper after all. Proof of on board plane existence.
Here we are again at the Vancouver airport rock water falls things, one of the most memorable things at this airport.
After a quick and easy retrieval of our luggage we head to the sky train to get downtown. We did the same shit last year so it’s still familiar.
Reaching the end of the line, fully downtown now at the waterfront station.
Our hotel this time was booked by my sister called the EXchange Hotel Vancouver something. They had self check in but it failed so in the end went to the counter anyway. The time now is like 11am, cause we traveled back in time so our room was not ready yet, decided to leave our bags and have the guy put it in our room when ready. Me and my sister decided to get straight to business and headed to the Anirevo convention center. We just told our mom to do whatever and go to some mall to kill the time until our room was ready, so yea, later.
The convention center is right at the waterfront and is very easily accessible, you can’t miss it really.
Alright let’s try and correct the mistakes of the past. Let’s go to Anirevo Vancouver, the source.
First thing up the stairs already? Hmm ok sure, a bit strange but whatever.
The time now is like 11:30-12pm or so most of the people are already in but right off the bat the convention feels more lax and chill, even tho it is a Saturday, which is supposed to be the main day.
Umamusame and Oguri cap just as popular as ever getting their registration badge.
Badge get, even tho I only attend half the day on Sat and Sunday. They are pretty diligent but you have to check ID and they sign your name on it instead of yourself which is interesting.
The inside of this space is quite nice looking, furnished with wood panels and shit. Cool.
All of the main events and panels/concerts are held on this ground floor, everything else, the main convention hall you have to go downstairs to an escalator hmm.
Map of Anirevo and the Vancouver convention space, not bad. Just like online posted.
Going down the escalator to the main hall, kinda cool to be honest.
First thing I see in the hall is the same shops that I have seen in AN and other conventions. lol Anime Bae and Bibisama.
Not to far from the entrance is guess who, looks like Sakimichan’s proxy’s are here again doing their best job selling her works. Although non-18+ versions. Hmm.
At first glance the convention space is quite large but as far as I can tell, there is no real well defined industry areas like in other big cons but the hall itself reminds me of the artists alley in AX, just for everything tho.
Interestingly they have some food stuff at the back and some tables to sit at hm this is a bit different than what I am used to. It’s also in front of a stage too for some live like events.
For some reason indomie noodles had a booth and they were selling their super popular mie goreng noodles along with other related merch and shit jokes not bad stuff actually and pretty cheap. I asked the guy why they are here and he said they want to see how the product is doing overseas, he himself is from Jakarta Indonesia so that’s interesting. My guess is that Vancouver is the main export hub where the noodles come in so they have a office or something I guess here.
Anirevo’s mascot I believe is called Seimei and like most conventions, she gets a new redesign every year by different artists, cool that they do this really.
The stage beside the food area has some Umamusame party thing going on. I had thought that this was a real con panel but instead it was just some ghetto thing. Gold ship looks on however.
Tables for chilling and food and anirevo merch booth in the distance.
He haven’t eaten anything for hours now or rest so we had to get food, decided on this ‘chicken katsu’ burger. which is just frozen chicken burger after all. Expensive overpriced con emergency food but it will have to do since that’s exactly what it is really. Like 16 or 18 I think?
They did however have a very nice setup for napkins and other condiments forks etc. The chicken katsu burger was kinda shit, the chicken just frozen chicken burger and the bun horrible, it was like a kaiser bun pretending to be a brioche and pretzel bun but failing at both, shit. Fries were ok. Gotta do what we gotta do, we just came from a plane you know.
Excellent cosplay of Bayonette and Dante, good shit.
Oh boi gotta buy some official merch. Too bad that this year’s shirt is gone however, ahwell gonna but some stuff anyways.
Their assortment of merch honestly is pretty good, nice designs and nice materials. Good shit. They even had stock leftover from last year, even old hololive ones when they did come to this convention last year. Unfortunately, there is no hololive or vtubers at this convention for some reason this year so that’s too bad.
Despite that, most merch and stores still have tons of hololive merch and even here cutouts of talents like Towa.
Nice Yagoo sign. I have a few of those plushies on the table, they are official friends with you plushies good shit.
No matter where you go or what con you go to you will find figures overprices massively at conventions, I’d like to call it the convention and shipping tax. Most of these can be brought online from ami ami at like 30-50% or more off but the shipping tho so yea.
Nice mascot for this store, bees are cool.
Looks like they haven’t banned crocet shit here yet tho.
There is a lot of artists I haven’t see before at Anirevo which are really good. I didn’t bring my tube this time so probably no prints this yea, which is too bad because I would have brought several by now. Ahwell, maybe at animeNYC.
They really do love their store mascots here in Vancouver it seems.
Bibisama selling their shit here too. Maybe they are more west coast focused because they seem to be at like every con now it seems.
Another fantastic artist I haven’t seen before, great works of ADO and other related virtual Vtuber hololive acts.
Nice pillow and butts here, not bad.
Saw this artist before I think at animeNYC, brought from them, nice shit. From coast to coast artists will go to sell their shit.
Not bad not Kanade.
Good looking work I never seen before.
The umamusame party was still going on but they were having some technical sound issues, like the sound for their song and dance wasn’t turning on and shit but they made the best of it. It worked eventually but the sound was choppy, too bad Kitasean Black and friends.
The audience were also trying their best to root them on too, even with the technical issues. Good work.
Good smile company also has a booth, but unlike AN, they actually have a small walk in store where you can buy things, which is cool. They should have this too at AN.
Said walk in area, not bad, have some nice new stuff but all the things didn’t have prices on them so I have no idea.
Good artist I haven’t seen before. Nice uma ears too.
Interesting style we have here too.
Another unique artist I have never seen before.
I am not sure how this works but it seems like a scam still.
Oh shit it’s our boi Quirkilcious himself still selling shit after all these years here too damn.
Shop selling pen lights also have good taste is staff cosplay choices for umamusame.
Nice selection of warez here. One of the things I noticed at Anirevo is that they don’t really make a fuss over who is a ‘artist’ or a ‘vendor’ they don’t give a shit I think, so what happens is that the entire space more or less becomes a mosaic of dealers shops and artists selling their warez together, very different from what I am used to.
Another artist that I have not seen before.
More unseen artists before wow wow.
Nice keychains too.
In the main exhibt hall they also have their autograph area. Anirevo don’t fuck around with lines so this is what I like to see.
Not bad plush.
Oh shit it’s pjun’s art here but it’s not him. wow, more family friends and artists proxy’s huh. I guess this is how it all works now.
Damn pretty good shit but it’s kinda expensive. I can’t buy posters anyways but the artbook she has is quite expensive, $80? damn that’s alot but it is hardcover so who knows.
Really nice works here too. The books look great but expensive tho. Maybe, we’ll see.
Oh it’s that one artist that I spoke to in AN at the adult area. Wow, these guys go everywhere.
This artist really only draws stuff of hololive gigi which is admirable. Who knows, they might even be one of her friends IRL too, since from what I remember she used to also sell at artists alleys and conventions before getting into holo.
The time now is around 1pm and it’s time for our first panel of this con. The live recording session with the voice actors in the currently airing anime, “Rich Girl Care Taker”. The actual ballroom space is quite nice with the wood and such. This is where they had the hololive world tour concert last year, the one where we brought but failed to go to because we fucked up timing.
The panel of course had no photos or recording allowed but was cool, giving a idea of how voice actors work in the studio. All the main voice actors of the show were there, aka all the talents who were also going to be doing autographs too later today, so yea, it’s cool to see and hear them do their work. They did great.
After the panel it’s time to go back in the main hall.
Very long table indeed.
Nice holo art which I don’t think I have seen before. Because the girl is covering her mouth it probably means she’s also an active vtuber and here doing so just in case, that or she’s just sick.
I have seen this artist at AN before and also Anirevo Toronto I think, mainly the saba and dobby artowork.
Interesting spread of work.
They have a booth for some hololive club in Richmond to teach others how to play the TCG game which is nice. Right about this time my sister had to go do a mission to meet some acquaintance that she knew which involve getting stickers from some random. Yea, so I was alone for a bit and losing stamina but let’s see what else I documented.
Classic maimai music game, since like 2010’s I think, even in my Japan 1 trip they were the hottest shit and even now, people still play, probably old timers too just like DDR I guess.
Never seen before, not bad.
Cool car prints and anime girls, I might have brought some if I brought my tube, unfortunately not today.
Saw this artist at anirevo Toronto in the past before, good shit.
Once again really good shit I haven’t seen before. Perhaps I should have brought my tube? ahwell can’t do anything about that now but document. Around this time my sister came back with her mission successfully done haven’t gotten said sticker from some random aquantance, so I decided it was time to go back to our hotel to see if things are ok and actually rest a bit and freshen up, before coming back and trying to line up for autographs.
Our mom had already done her shopping adventure and went back to the hotel hours earlier and was just chilling. Our room looks ok, big enough but it was kinda hot inside. The thermostat basically was kinda useless it didn’t seem to work. We tried calling service lobby to fix it and they said they would have a ‘engineer’ adjust our room temp. I have no idea if that is true tho or just bullshit, but yea, it was still hot at this time.
Standard bedding for a part of 3-4 I would think.
Nice hall.
Overall the washroom was ok too, big enough and spacious. This hotel is apparently supposed to be a 4 star hotel but after going to so many hotels over the years, I don’t know if any of these ratings mean anything anymore as I haven’t had a hotel wow me since Japan, that one we stayed at in Akihabara station, the GOAT hotel and location. After a quick rest and freshen up, we head back out, leaving our mom to continue chilling in the hotel.
Going back down to the hall for autographs now.
Well now, the timing for autographs couldn’t have been more worse. By the time we got back it was only 15 minutes before the autograph that I wanted, Konomi Kohara at 4pm, I knew it was going to be bad but didn’t know it was going to be like this. Shit, should have lined up hours before. I decided to try and stay so waited in this long ass long for like half an hour or so but it soon become obvious that I had no chance to get her autograph in the time allowed. My sister went to get the autograph of Ami Koshimizu for her boyfriend which was supposed to be at 5pm and the line was also quite for her already too. Her line was moving and mine wasn’t so I decided to cut my losses and also join the line for Ami instead, would try for Konomi tomorrow since she’s here again.
When I joined the line for Ami Koshimizu I was handed his pink card saying I was now in the official overflow line for her autograph. Things were looking up and they moved the entire line to another wall to prevent traffic congestion.
The guy handing the pink cards said that there is no guarantee that you will get an autograph, it depends and said that the next 3-4 people behind me were the last of the line cutoff.
However, as it can be seen, that did not prevent the line from growing and the people in front of us from letting their friends increase the line too. I was speaking to the guy immediately behind me and he had already gotten Konomi’s autograph and was hoping to get Ami’s today aswell. I asked him when did he start lining up for Konomi, he said he started lining up at 12pm, fuck, 4 hours ahead of time! He was like there was 30 or so others ahead of me in that line, should have come earlier still because Ami is known to draw on her autographs and it takes a long time. While this was going on my sister messaged me saying while they hard capped the Konomi line I was waiting in for half an hour; however, all the people that got cut, which is also where I would have been still stayed in line hoping for the best. And their luck paid off. Instead of just doing the autographs for the people with the hard cap, she also asked for all the people who were waiting still for her autographs to also be allowed to get her autograph, doing overtime for her fans. FUCK. If I had just stayed in her line even after getting cut I would have gotten her autograph, but no, I just had to move Ami’s one instead. Mannn bad luck 1.
The guys behind me were counting the amount of people in front of us and comparing it to those in the actual line, and they still had hope but the bad news finally came for us when one of the staff came and said that unforunately all of you guys won’t be able to get autographs today because Ami draws on her boards and is very slow so they overestimated the amount of boards she would be able to sign, she also had a panel coming up or other obligation to do so he couldn’t stay over, so it was over for us, we had lost, we had failed, we were dead. Fuck mannn. The false hope with the pink card and everything too. The bad luck 2. The bad luck with Konomi’s autograph is just unworldly, had I continued to be dumb and just stayed in the line I would have gotten her autograph instead of wasting my time. FUckk. I guess I have to camp again and try tomorrow again. Sadge.
My sister with her successful mission yet again for autographs. Man, I have the worst luck and timing/decision making for autograph shit while my sister tends to get lucky most of the time without that much camping. Well, at least I got Uesaka Sumire at anirevo Toronto and Honoka Inoue at AN. I will be back for revenge autograph tomorrow!
Having failed my mission for today and my sister completing all her’s, we went back to the hotel to get our mom and have dinner. We decided to go to a ramen place called Gojira Ramen which was around the area and highly rated. When we got there there was a small queue to get inside, ok sure.
Some of the menu options for this ramen place, nice, gotta pay that ramen tax too since Japanese people also serving real Japanese Jiro style ramen I guess.
After a not to long wait we got a table. Let us look at this place, it’s pretty small but it works.
A good portion of the guests today are for sure from Anirevo but others who are just random too. Not bad a small place but it manages.
Proof of ramen existence, gojira edition sign plus.
Ordered some spicy teriyaki karrage, it was ok, not bad but not great either, had much better elsewhere.
I got the spicy ramen with chasu and a ramen egg with rich broth. Lots of beanspouts on this one and a very garlic pork heavy forward flavor broth with thick noodles.
My mom got the Yokohama Iekei which is a regional ramen from yokohama style apparently which is a bit lighter I think and toppings more green.
My sister got the same thing as me but non-spicy version called ‘the basic’ not bad she says but way to many beansprouts.
Also had a order of Gyoza too, they were ok too.
Overall I would say this place is solid but nothing special to be honest. 7/10. The style of ramen is different than anything I had in the past but I can tell it’s not the best form it can be, It can be much better I can tell and the side apps we ordered were just average. My sister gave it 6.5 because too many bean sprouts. My mom also said 7 I think too. Not bad but could have been better. After this we headed back to our hotel to rest up, gotta camp tomorrow and write this post after all right? tired today but let’s go.
Photo from my sister of the side mission she went out to do on behalf of her boyfriend. Meet one of his online friends who is part of the fan support for this indie vtuber and get one of the stickers he was giving out. Such a side side obscure mission but you gotta do what you gotta do I suppose.
