Summer Trip 2026 – Day 1

Alright then, first full day in Vancouver and first full day of Anirevo also it’s final day, let’s see how today goes and if I end up getting those autographs. I have missions to attend to so let’s so how things went today.

Wake up at like 8:30am to begin camping early for the main hall where the autographs are held but the rain is putting a damper a bit in the morning.

Before we head into the convention center my sister decided to choose this place for breakfast, it’s called Awesome Bagel so I hope it lives up to it’s name.

The cafe is pretty casual and chill, not that formal at all really. Nice world cup flag decorations tho for no reason.

If you call your place awesome bagels, you better hope or ensure that your bagels are good or your shit will get ruined.

Proof of thinking existence. The time difference is something to get used to, since time.

We OK in the morning, I guess.

My sister got this egg and cheese everything bagel sandwich, she said it was really good since the cheese was combined into the egg.

I got the same bagel sandwich except with ham in it and a coffee. Overall it was pretty solid but I’ve had better in NYC.

Hmm looks like some cruise ship patrons getting off the boat. Soon, for me too I will be joining a boat.

The time is now like 9:30am or so and the convention technically is supposed to start at 10am but the main hall opens at 11am which is kinda eh. I suppose this is to allow vendors and artists to setup.

We were redirected to a empty holding area, which is basically a sectioned off space from the main exhibit hall. This reminds me alot of AnimeNYC, what they do before the con official opens up it’s area.

And here we are, where we will sit around for the next 1.5 hours or so before the main hall opens. I overhear other groups talking and most are here to camp and line up early for autographs, with the first session being at 12pm. Oh boi, despite it being a fairly long wait, the reception in the hall is quite good so playing some games and umamusame makes light of killing time.

Fast forward an hour or so and the waiting area expands with more people waiting to get in. Yea, that’s about right.

Going in now at 11am, everyone eager to get in and do their shit. When I get in most people I see are walking fast and or running to get to the back of the hall space, which is where the autograph area is. Organizers try to yell and say no running, but they cannot do anything for those on a mission and are far too fast.

I make it to my line in no time for the autograph of Konomi Kohara without issue as it is the real line for sure. Looks good, now to wait for like another 1.5 hours until her Sunday signing session begins at 12:30.

Alot of people went into the autograph line for Megumi Nakajima, which this is the only autograph session that she had for the entire con. Due to my bad and poor luck at getting autographs, my sister decided to help me get her autograph too.

After some time waiting, I can see her on the other side of that line. Noice.

Every time I am waiting around sitting on the ground I see others playing their games and shit, and in multiple occasions I see people playing Umamusame, I mean this is me included. The game is excellent for killing time and waiting.

Thanks to umamusame, waiting is a breeze and before I know it, Konomi’s arrives and her autograph session begins. In no time I have finally achieved success, autograph get, noice. My sister also was successful getting Megumi Nakajima’s autograph so looks like this is a good convention after all.

With our main mission complete, we continue on to go through the rest of the con tables after the autograph section, the left half of the con is basically all artists, so my previous thought that it was mixed and match it incorrect. The left half of the con is all artists tables while some have overflown into the right which is supposed to be vendors, which means actually that this convention has alot less vendors than I originally thought.

Lots of new art that I haven’t seen before although I recognize that some of the ones that I said were new in the first post were not. I only realized after looking at them again.

Nice art going on here.

Another artist that I have not seen before, or maybe I have?

OC GACHA Forever. These guys are everywhere, including many other artists which just appear in every con across the continent.

Oh shit, crocet may be banned in AN but they are not here, attracting the enemies of Kathleen, Made with April. oh shit.

Pretty nice art but probably not for me, too serious.

Pretty nice art with Saba and friends. Some holo too obviously. I normally would buy a print from something like this since I never saw and art is good but since no tube this time no buy ah well. Maybe one day i’ll see you again.

Oh shit home turf for this guy selling nice set pieces of locations and food places like family part and lawson. Good shit, brought a few more charms from him, noice.

Seen this artist a few times before in AN and elsewhere conventions, nice big cutout too I guess? Either this is the artist’s vtuber model or a vtuber that she designed. Either way looks nice, the Venn diagram between artist alley artists and vtubers is almost a circle. I am sure many of the artists sellling works here today dabble in vtubing aswell, which is not surprising.

Oh shit some nice magnets and shit and a gacha machine.

Nice not costco chicken and hot dog deals magnets. Brought some.

Oh look, it’s a full body suit Altria boob saber. Nice, although it’s always a bit freaky.

Megapoid, vocaloid modeled by Megumi Nakajima and pointy hat wizards and a traineer san painting a figure of a meccha chameleon, the hottest game right now for vtubers and streams, and probably youth too. It’s not bad.

A familiar artist that I have seen for years many a time in AN. It’s crazy how after so many years of conventions I can remember familiar artists, all it takes it just one piece of work that you buy or remember them, their art and style and subject matter changes but as long as their top sellers are still being shown on display I can remember.

This guy/girl was selling art of just squidward which is quite a commitment to the bit. Props.

More art that I haven’t seen before, not bad.

I think i’ve seen this artist before at AN, wow so these guys really do travel to all the cons.

Everyone still got their back pocket umamusame goods, this one has running legs which is a cool gimmick.

Nice hair bro. Is it realz?

Another familar artist, probably appeared at anirevo toronto and AN too.

Another familiar face too.

Wow, some crazy style and detail shit going on here, cool.

Interesting concepts and focus everywhere on alot of different subjects.

Saw this pin vendor/artist at AN one year and never again. Guess he’s more common to show up here in anirevo.

Pretty good shit here too. Would normally buy a couple of prints but no tube so no buy, ahwell.

Got some umas here and Nikke but not good enough for my standards.

Damn, this person is committed to the Shrek bit lol jokes.

Wow, stickers galore. Apparently stickers are very popular now still, especially among the youth. Probably cause it’s cheap.

Nice material goods here too.

This artists was at AN and other conventions before I think. I’ve been to so many it’s hard to remember sometimes I but do know

Pretty good shit overall. It’s rare to see Dr stone art, but since the show it over I suppose this is a thing, noice. Same for Nekopara and Kaguya too.

Keychains and pillows. At this con there isnt’ alot of plushies or other things of that nature, hm not sure why.

Nice work and hololive art at the left, gigi and cici of hololive justice are the most popular of the ‘new’ gen but ‘new’ gen has been around for 2 years now, I think everyone including artists are dying for another new EN gen so they can make new art of.

Damn nice style and street theme, would buy but no since no tube. Maybe one day.

Holomyth good shit. Even though Ame and Gura are dead, with the arrival of Hololive Dreams game in some weird way drawing art of them is still not so bad because they are in the game, even tho they are not in hololive anymore.

Not all art is great however, some artists I question why sometimes.

Nice art, might buy if had tube.

Wow, pretty cute keychains of some holo fuwamoco and gigi and some nimi on the side. Ended up buying the gigi charm, noice.

Really nice art I haven’t seen before of holo mems, would buy, if I had tube.

Seen this guy around for many years in AN, hmm, where do people live man, do they live here or Toronto? US? Who knows.

Another rare dr stone gay fanart wow. So hidden so gay.

I remember this artist from way back I have their art on my wall in my home framed now, I asked them once where they live and they said Hamilton so it’s good to see that they are still around, just not going to AN anymore which is interesting.

More cool art that I might have brought but can’t since no tube.

Even umas like to buy art too.

Nice gimmick but ultimately did not buy, your mainly getting the trophy thing on the charm but the art is just ok.

Pretty good plush veggies and fruit, nice faces. Not that many custom plush this con but this one I approve of.

Nice art, would buy if had tube maybe.

Lots of neressa and holo art here, cool keychains too.

Uma art and fuwamoco friends with you plush in the front for no reason I think. Funny that the only fuwamoco art or goods I see them selling is those keychains, jokes.

Old 50 year old Leon from RE Requiem is like the coolest old man designed in recent times by both women and men. Nice hat.

NNice art of probably starrail or some Chinese gacha games that I don’t know about.

Nice consistent style.

OZ zone is baller.

Oh, the umamusame guy a brought keychains from in AN this year is also here, maybe this is his home turf since his display is much larger and actually showcases his artworks which are actually quite good. I would have brought some prints, maybe he’ll be back at AN.

After standing for so many hours and browsing the hall, decided to step out for a bit for a washroom break in the outside space, cool.

After we decided to go a sit down even more in the main hall stage area, which while ghetto was going to have some local idol group preform.

Weather casters huh? Congrats on being alive for one year. Local Vancouver talents it seems.

When they introduced themselves, they all spoke Japanese and all of their songs are also in Japanese but they can also speak English basically natively, so yea, this is pretty Vancouver.

In the center of the area were the group of hardcore idol wota boiz doing their thing. Damn, it was kinda jokes because some of their moves involved gathering in a circle and taking full attention away from the idols on stage to do their chants and waves. It seems like they were just having fun themselves and not paying attention to their singing or performance lol. I commend them on their multiple camera recording setups tho.

After having enough of the Weather Reporters performance transitioning into some ballads we decided to check out the start of the rows of the con again for a final pass before the end of the day. The time is now like 3:30pm or so, the main hall today is going to close at 5pm which more or less means the con ends then, although some panels will continue and closing ceremonies.

Uma pillows and Rice Shower vendor lady selling them kinda jokes.

It was hard to see the first pass but there is a couple of small shop vendors selling doujinshi 18+ books, which were even more discrete than usual.

This clothing company is at like every con now it seems.

Summer seimei looks nice.

Tons of vtuber content from this artist, would buy some but no tube ahwell.

Taking a peek at how the autographs are going and it seems like there is still lots of people still in line trying to get theirs. Wish them luck.

Oh look. pjun is here after all, wow. I had thought he sent his proxies here but it looks like he came after all, maybe this is his home terf perhaps. Nobody knows.

Nice spread of vtubers from hololive and phase connect which is surprizing that there isn’t more of. Vancouver is supposed to be their home turf so I kinda thought there might be more, but I guess not. Ended buying some Irys big charm from this artist, noice.

Also sold some nice edgy shirts too so that’s cool and obviously lots of doki merch too, local hero I suppose.

Nice holo art, on the threshold of maybe buy, if I could buy.

This transformers art looks so jokes, I mean, it’s from the the new movie I think about origins but I can’t approve of seeing their mouths at all. To me transformers are not gundams, we do not need to see their mouths at all unless you are megaton or such.

We finish up our last run and decide to end it early before 5pm and head on out. Anirevo OG overall was alright, it’s obviously much larger than the recent Toronto iteration but the general feel of it is kinda the same surprisingly, kinda chill and not that hectic, mainly because there actually isn’t that much else to do other than the handful of guest panels and fan run community run panels and or ghetto on stage concerts like the weather hackers idols or umamusame party thing which are just whatever but fun I guess. The main attraction of course is getting autographs, which is the only real reason why anyone would come to this convention, and or some other event. Last year the main event was Hololive world tour concert and various other hololive panels, which I think is well suited. This year it’s this Rich Girl Caretaker anime and it’s cast of very popular voice actors which is warranted. I still wonder why there is no vtubers at all for this con, when in previous years there prominence was much more. Not even Phase connect, the local company had a presence here, probably due to the fact that they started running their own convention aswell, just for Phase connnect vtubers. Despite that, the influence of vtubers and hololive in particular is still very apparent in the con attendees and artists/vendors, which is kinda ironic despite no vtubers as guest this year. The vendors for anirevo to be honest are abysmal, do not go here expecting to see alot of vendor merch, they don’t even have any large bookstores to sell manga or other books, which was interesting. The biggest stores I saw were that HobbyBee store that sold figures and hololive merch and some other similar ones but nothing big other than that. The vendors in my opinion only accounted for 1/3 of the entire hall, whereas the rest are artists and or derivative bullshit like dice or croqcuet/me goring noodles and the like. It’s a weird feeling con to be honest, not really corporate but not really amateur like AN, it’s well run and well staffed/organized by competent people that know what they are doing but despite their proficiency, other than the S tier Japanese voice and music guests, everything else feels like a slightly better run AN fan convention, weird. Would I got to anirevo Vancouver again? Sure, but only if for a guest or event that really matters to me, otherwise you’d be better off going to AnimeNYC or AX if you want to have a real big industry sponsored convention.

Prizes of the day, back in the hotel to prepare for dinner. Autographs of both Konomi and Megumi thanks to my sister for lining up for her and getting me hers as well. Good shit. This con is ok for this.

During this convention day our mom went on a mini journey to go buy some Vessi shoes which is a west coast shoe company that is highly shilled by a food youtuber from Vancouver that we watch sometimes. She went to a mall to get these shoes I think the same ones we went to last year to buy them. I mean there is a Vessi location in Mississauga at home but whatever, gotta get them in Vancouver for some reason sure?

For dinner we decided to go to this Momo restaurant, serving up Tibetan/Nepalese momos and kinda indianish food.

The menu is pretty straightforward and easy to understand.

The inside of the place is nice looking, pretty chill and comfy modern. Once again more world cup flags because sure.

The chairs are nice and comfy yea nice ambience for sure.

Proof of eating momos restaurant, brick wall edition.

Proof of existence, pointing to the flags edition.

Momo platter of 20 arrives, in different cooking styles, steamed, fried, pan-friend and one one that I think is deep fried but tossed in chili sauce. Pretty good shit.

Some app we ordered that is basically ramen noodles broken up with seasoning mixed with some other herbs and shit in a shell thing. Very ghetto but tastes ok, a bit too salty.

Some grilled pork meat with puffed rice and some sauce and stuff. It sounded good on paper but it’s kinda mid. Considering the cost, I would have expected much more meat.

Garlic naan, solid good bread.

Nepanese chicken curry and rice.

Once we finished our momo platter I felt we needed more so ordered some stand alone orders of the chili momos. I didn’t expect it to come in a bowl like this so saucy and stuff which reminds me sweet and sour lol. It’s good but a bit too spicy for my sister but she still ate them. Overall I would say this place is a solid 8/10. My experience of momos was just some frozen ones I brought from the store and they were not great, having fresh ones they taste much better. The other dishes we had were also solid today, except for the grill pork with puffed rice, which felt like a scam, not worth, didn’t taste that good either and the ramen bowl thing, kinda ghetto. Everything else was great. Not bad.

Having had our spicy momo meal, my sister wanted to get some icecream/gelato, so we did at this place.

Shit’s expensive but what do you expect, they have limited monthly flavors so that’s cool.

For some reason the entire seating area was booked for an event. I have no idea what this could be, doesn’t seem like a party really.

For me I got two scoops, one of mango lassi to keep the brown people flavors in line with the momos and cherry amaratto thing. They were ok, the mango was better.

My sister got chocolate fancy shit and BC strawberry, the combo was good she said. It was good. Our mom didn’t want to get any and went back to the hotel early.

Well then, I suppose that ends our initial landing days for Anirevo over now in Vancouver, starting tomorrow we will boarding the Disney cruise boat and we may or may not have good internet connection, unless I pay for it daily which could be expensive but we’ll see. I will likely buy it anyways because I need it for my mobile games buy we’ll see. If there is no post for the next few days, that’s why, either I am too cheap or too lazy but yea, I likely will buy it for great cost because why not? I need to document this Espoir like boat journey whichever way I can.
