Cover Art: When I look for new metal tunes I don’t normally see nice anime art for covers, especially one that is one of the abyssals badguy ships from kancolle. I know that there is a whole lot of metal covers for touhou and top anime songs but I haven’t seen anything like this before. I guess the band guys are TTK’s? Anyways, great cover and cute girl.
Review: Despite the kancolle cover art, there really isn’t anything on here that even remotely resembles music from the game or anime. Maybe it’s just that it’s so metal that I can’t recognize it anymore? There are a few songs that kinda remind me of final fantasy or some other anime songs which I might vaguely know but otherwise, this is pretty solid melodic death. These guys got some good riffs and their tempo is pretty solid, not dragonforce crack speed level but they definitely have good technical skill.
The vocals are appropriate, English/Japanese and standard death growl and they have a good amount of choir chanting going on for some songs. Their bonus songs I’m pretty sure are anime or game covers, actually maybe the entire album are covers?
Anyways, overall not bad, 2-3 songs are really good, while the rest are ok.
Score: 7/10
