Kancolle Winter 2016 event is weird, it was both too easy and also too hard, at least for me. I steamrolled both E1 and E2 Hard easily within a couple of days with little resistance, using none of the operation Rei-Go event boats for better pathing, just my best boats and the best equips I had. Then E3 happened, straight off that bat I knew I was in for a long ride, set that shit to Medium. When I got to the HP boss gauge, it was fine, I got consistent S rank kills all the way until 0 hp…then map went into Last Dance composition and I could barely even reach the boss node for final kill, fuckkkk. By that time my resources were like less than 1k, I had to wait it out for natural resource regen and expeditions to do their thing, shit. I was stuck on E3 Last Dance for about a week trying different fleet setups and equips and after help/advice from friends and from online, finally managed to beat that bitch boss. Fuck man, too bitch annoying hard, so RNG, so much bad luck on my part. With that said, it’s time to highlight the Heroes of Our Time; the MVP boat waifus that performed and excelled their call of duty during these battles on the high seas and led their admiral to victory.
5. Kaga/Akagi
While technically all 3 event maps you could/should use light carriers, the recommended wiki page says I should use light carriers, online people tell me to use light carriers. Do you know what? Fuck it, I’m using real carriers and these 2 served me well for E2, fucking steamrolled that shit like nothing. Oh, there’s subs and 2 air battle nodes in the south route? Fuck it, load up all those green fighter planes, ruin their shit with air superiority+, lock that shit down, get S rank in all air nodes, fuck em up, tank those subs. Get to DJ turn table boss abyssal with glasses, blow that shit up. Good job Akagi, Kaga; true carrier Master Race.
4. Abukuma
I got Abukuma to her kai ni a few weeks back and honestly, her voice is so damn annoying I can barely stand it. However, despite her less than desirable personality and noise, she can kill some serious shit. Like it feels almost as if I am cheating whenever a map calls for a CL requirement, that opening torpedo is just so OP, except even more so because she’s not considered a CLT and you can get away with using her. She played a major role in doing damage to all enemies in E1 and E3. Annoying, but you just can’t ignore her potential.
3. Yamato/Nagato
Oh, this is operation Rei-Go they say, you need some crappier historical boats for easier pathing? Fuck it, brute force that shit with battleships too to make it even easier along with the real carriers. Yamato and Nagato were used heavily in my E2 and E3 runs; for E2, as main damage dealers using those green shells and in E3, the backbone of the main combined fleet. This is probably my first time using non-fast battleships in an event due to not being sufficiently leveled but they performed very well, doing tons of damage when needed too and besides; they both have big boobs, that’s like automatically worth a spot for recognition already.
2. Fusou
Fusou in my opinion is a fairly under appreciated boat. As an aviation battleship, she’s never the best at shelling damage, nor air bombing, where it would be more economical to use CAV’s for additional planes or just use another battleship instead. However, she was a true hero during my runs for E1 and E3 as her additional planes made her consistently hit targets, get criticals and perform artillery cut-ins where many others in my fleet would fail to hit anything. While Fusou may not deal the best damage, her accuracy certainly was a great asset for me this event and killed many a bad guy boat, which brings me too…
1. Kitakami
Kitakami-sama as others online often call her, is truly deserving of the title of a Divine God. Much like Abukuma, those opening torpedos really ruin the enemies shit, but for Kitakami, that is like her very core existence. As my highest leveled CLT, she played a key role in both final kills for E1 and most importantly, fucking E3 last dance; yea Kitakami got the final kill in night battle with double attack setup, took off like over 150 hp remaining or something, can’t remember. It was such a relief when my awkward speaking boat delivered due justice to the boss, there really isn’t anyone else who is more worthy the title of “Hero of Our Time”. I finally understand why Ooi, while doing a respectable job herself as a CLT is so gay for Kitakami, she’s basically a Savior God. Good job Kitakami, you win respect.
Honorable Mentions: Kongo/Haruna, Yuudachi/Shigure; those boats performed well overall for me this event but they failed one too many times when it mattered most.
