As February comes to a close, so does the Kancolle Winter 2016 Event. It was originally supposed to end on the 26th but was extended to the end of the month, probably due to the fact that the 26th is a Friday and no one wants to update shit on that day. Well, regardless of extension or not, yea, I beat that shit down, my second boat event with all maps cleared. However, why does it feel like I still lost? It was considerably easier overall and smaller than previous events with only 3 maps, but man, that RNG for me on E3. FUCK MAN. But anyways, I’m glad that it’s over and with that said, it’s time to highlight the new boat waifus of the season.

4. Naganami
In all honesty, I don’t really give a shit about this boat. In fact, I don’t really care too much for any of the Yuugumo class destroyers. I think I might have even scrapped one or two of Naganami’s sisters along the way to clear up some space, can’t remember. Why am I listing her here then on this list? Because I got her and she is unbuildable, that’s why. I overall don’t really like the clothing designs for the Yuugumo destroyers, they just look kinda dull to me and I’m not exactly a fan of the choice of colours or the white mini-jacket either. However, among the like what 8-9 Yuugumo destroyers, I think Naganami at least has the best face and pose; nice happy smile and small tooth-fang. She’s also voiced by Taketatsu Ayana, pro voice actor which also does the voice for Yamato and a few others I think. Maybe will level, maybe will trash.
3. Zara
So this is Zara, the Italian reward boat for clearing E3. Was is worth it? Well she is the first Italian heavy cruiser and she looks pretty cute I guess, probably one of the better Italian boat designs in my opinion along with Libeccio but in terms of usefulness? Er…kinda looking like shit guys. What’s with the 0 torpedo stats? As a heavy cruiser that’s like a major handicap already since one of the only reasons why you would even bother using heavy cruisers; is for torpedoes. But aside from being primarily a trophy boat, I like her design a lot, nice skirt, nice shirt, good colours, good pose and face/hair. Her sleeves are interesting and allow the shoulders and armpits to be shown, which is a nice touch. Pretty Italian I guess, like I could be in a restaurant and she could be serving me pasta and pizza. Yea, this is a good Italian boat, at least in design.
2. Akizuki
Yes, finally got Akizuki, one of the best destroyers in the game. Akizuki actually dropped for me as a pure fluke in fact while I was trying to clear E3 boss in last dance. I was getting frustrated/tired of running E3 over and over without luck so I decided try E2 again to maybe get some drops. Lo-and below, first run in back to E2 and Akizuki dropped, fuck yea luck. Akizuki has one of the best anti-air cut-in abilities in the game and is one of a handful of boats with “animated” gun turret with faces and shit, similar to Shimakaze and Amatsukaze. Some people say that in terms of design she is a mini-Yamato, or younger Yamato; I can see that, their clothing and ship-part designs are somewhat similar and paired with the fact that both are designed by the same illustrator, Shizuma Yoshinori, I can understand why. In fact, I think all of the boats that are designed by Shizuma Yoshinori are great, such as as Nagato, Mutsu, Mushashi, Yamato, Shimakaze etc. The best part of Akizuki’s designs is the headband, scarf and and corset thing that she wears, really cute; paired with a great smile, cheerful personality and funny face turret guns and you have great waifu right there.
1. Hatsuzuki
Hatsuzuki is the E2 map clear reward and also part of the Akizuki class of destroyers, meaning one of the best destroyers in the game along with her sister ships, Akizuki and Teruzuki. She is a good boat. I really like her design and is really good contrast to Akizuki which is happy and cheerful; while Hatsuzuki is cool and clam, sporting the whole kuudere black clothes look with a personality similar to that of top waifu carrier Kaga. There’s really nothing much else to be said about her, she’s excellent all-around both in terms of stats, gameplay use and design, so good. I like that her gun turret faces look so neutral and stoic looking, nice touch. In keeping with the similar uniform design of Shizuma Yoshinori’s Akizuki class, Hatsuzuki has the same headband with words and corset thing, although all dark colours and black instead. She also gets black stockings, long black sleeves, black scarf and her hairband ribbons are more visible in the front, maybe she should drop on black friday considering the amount of black used on her. She immediately reminded me of Graf Zepplin, another top waifu of last event since her color scheme and personalities are similar; guess Shizuma Yoshinori and Shimada Humikane are sharing notes or something. In any case, Hatsuzuki is the Top New Boat Waifu this 2016 Winter Event; adding to the fact also because of this video http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm28192174 where some guy accidentally scraps her, makes you want to appreciate her even more as a waifu.
