Seeing as how this band is also from Japan, I guess you guys have to use anime style character art for the cover, cause you know, it’s easier to find anime artists and such yea. I’ve never heard of this band before but with a name like Dragon Eyes and an album named Prayer for the Sad Stories paired with the evident gothic/victorian animu girl on the cover, how can I not give this a try. The band plays something of a melodic power metal with clean female vocals and some occasional harsh growls from some guys.
Songs are pretty catchy and have very memorable riffs and vary in pacing and tone, some more energetic and uptempo, others more darker and heavy making use more of death growls. There is some occasional use of classical instrumentals such as piano and violin giving alot of atmosphere which suits the kind of imagery and feel that you would expect from a gothic looking metal cover with an anime girl on it. If anything I would liken to call it rozen maiden baroque speed power metal, yea I knoe, dem labels.
Interestingly enough songs vary in language, some are full Japanese while others are full English, including song names. The lead female vocalist has a pretty clean and crisp voice and a does a pretty decent job on english songs, death growl dudes are english only, yea boi. Nothing particularly special or exceeding expectations here but overall a good well rounded album, looking forward to checking out more from this band.
