Lalalalala, let’s do this shit, Summer 2016 Anime, here we go. I know we got some sequals and a few for sure hits but maybe we’ll see a few new gems arise.
Momokuri – Basically we got some girl, she’s second year of highschool. She likes a boy who is one year lower than her, so first year. Show starts off with fag boy doing the usual oh boi it’s my first day of high school routine with minor thoughts and shit. Then some girl goes up to him and it’s all like, hay, I lik u, do u wanna be mai, gyrl frnd? Guy is all like, ok, and shy and shit. At first I wasn’t really sure who this show is for, since after the initial meeting, 80% of the show takes the perspective of the girl, who was pretty much stalking the guy and being like, ohma gawd, satoshi or wutevar his nam iz lik so kawaiii!!! ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ and all that shit. But yea, this is a women’s show, or at least a show for couples as satoshi and stalker girl learn more about each other. Decent art, animation for what is is, totalyl forgetable character designs, mild funny, mainly due to main girls level of stalker. I think this is a mini show? Not sure. Decent, but not for me.
ReLIFE – Main dude is like mannnn, I suck. I’m fucking unemployed and 27 years yo, I quit the job I just got after only 3 months because I’m retarded, probably something to do with not feeling it or not my kind of thing, you know, working and all that. So i’m unemployed and neet and shit. So ashamed of myself that when I got a call from my old friends to meet up after work, I pretend that I have a job and dress in a suit and shit. Fuck, I’m lame. So when I’m walking home after my performance some dude talks to me on the street saying, yo do you want money and a job? All you have to do is sign up shit and be part of an experiment. Some stupid shit happens and I wake up. Fuck. Apparently I took some drugs and now I am 10 years younger and appear 17 years old. wow wow, I guess you can figure where this is heading. So street dude later shows up and is like sup, tells the guy your part of the experiment, you have a chance to RE-live your LIFE at high school for 1 year since you suck so much now, you can try to do things better and make a better future maybe. After some usual disbelief talk, guy is like yea, what other choice I have. Thus ensues a montage of main guy, lets call him Satoru; because you know, it’s basically the same shit; feeling awkward and not fitting in at highschool. Surprise, street dude is also part of your class and took the drugs, he’s here to observe you and make sure you don’t kill yourself. There are probably a few other experiment people in the class but dunno, probably have to watch more. It’s supposed to be comedy with some slice of life and i’m sure later on, some drama with when shit gets real; mild gay potential with street dude but ignoble. Decent animation, concept done before, might watch more maybe, we’ll see.
Berserk – This show/manga series has been going on for a long time if I remember correctly and is known for it’s very detailed and graphic violence/gore and general bad-ass and extreme nature. I think this is supposed to be a sequel of some sort to the previous anime(s); not sure, haven’t watched any but basically the general story is like this; main guy is named Guts, he is a bad ass motherfucker who doesn’t give a shit; he is cursed by demons or devils or something, super strong and welds a huge bastard sword, he goes around, meeting people and kills shit, sometimes on purpose, sometimes because of self defense. There is a naked blue haired fairy thing that follows him around, not sure if it’s supposed to be male or female, no genitals or nipples to suggest otherwise, voice is a girl but I’ll mark this one as androgynous. So yea, first episode Guts is just doing some shit, saves the blue fairy, saves some kid, gets a ride with some girl and her father in a wagon, wagon gets possessed by demons or something, Guts has a nightmare because of said demons, sees a flashback of all of his friends getting killed, old girlfriend or something getting killed/raped etc, skeletons attack, girl gets possessed, kills her own dad, guts kills girl, kills skeletons, end episode. This show is 3dcg. It is not good 3dcg. In fact, it’s pretty shitty because manly and ugly ass faces don’t seem to jive well with 3d. Heavily censored, at least it seemed so for the episode that I got. For what it is, it’s barely passable as anime and reminds me of a in-game cg for a videogame. Despite it’s shitiness, I might watch more, cause shit, manly dude with big sword? I’ll try again.
Love Live! Sunshine!! – This show is the new spin-off/sequel series to popular mobile music game Love Love! which apparently ended last summer with the release of a final movie and concert by the original show’s voice actors/idols I think. I actually tried playing Love Live a few years ago when I first got my new phone but because I suck at rhythm games I stopped and forgot about it. Fast forward a bit and my sister ends up playing the game on her new phone, so I decided to look it up again, at least to check if there was an anime, and there was, so considering that I am all about bandwagoning idol anime shit I decided to dl the show. Ended up watching all of season 1 and 2, pretty solid slice of life fare, my kind of shit. So yea, this show is supposed to be about a new school with new girls in the country/coast and their journey to become idols and compete in the Love Live festival, whereas the original school/crew were in Tokyo. I’d like to think of it as non-non biyori/ocean/sea/rural idol theme. The girls are pretty attractive, all of which I think at least visually, are designed better than their predecessors with the main girl being the standard hype-ling and the usual cast of tsunere, kuu-dere, school president etc kind of archetypes. Solid good, great opening, animation and song, will watch more.
Shokugeki no Soma S2 – Whoa whoa whoa!!! Slow down there SON, what’s the big hurry?! Yes, best shonen battle food show is back and it wastes no time starting off right after the end of the first series. While you would think that is a good thing, that’s actually very bad, because fuck, SHIT’S MOVING TOO DAMN FAST. There is like literally 3 minutes into the show and the contest battle between Alice and Soma is starting. WTF is this? Of course the animation, character designs and content is all good, but because everything is so rushed, the general impact and reactions to the amazing food that they make is greatly diminished and accelerated. In episode one, Alice and Soma both finish their dish, all the judges tastes their dishes with usual ecstatic reactions, give reviews/reasoning and already conclude that Soma wins. WTF is this? This battle should at least take 2 or maybe even 3 epidoes to cover but shit was done in 1? I have no idea what the directors or creators are thinking about doing this, do they only have 12 episodes or something? Whereas the previous has 24? Why? It saddens me a bit that while I am happy that Soma and friends are back, shit is moving too fast and is being rushed so noticeable. Ahwell, gonna watch anyways. Alice has nice boobs, pretty hawt.
Hatsukoi Monster – This is a gay show for women. However, it is interesting enough for me to at least sign on to watch more because I think the concept is so jokes. So we got main girl, let’s call her Anne, because I dunno, she is Anne-happy being a super rich pampered ojou-sama rich girl; so much so that she decides to go to small town and go to high school there so that she will try to get over her pampered lifestyle. Anne is walking the streets to get to her new apartment, drops some shit, runs, almost gets hit by car, some cool looking mature guy runs out and saves her. Anne asks guy what is your name, instantly falls in love; guy is all like, sorry nope, you are a stranger, why would I give you my name? (mic drop), and walks off. Anne is devastated. Later on she gets to her apartment, greeted by future classmates and some other handsome bishonen, feels determined to find the guy and ask again. Guy is there in the apartment, son of the landlord. Cool. Anne tells him that she wants to go out with him, guy is all like, ok, sure, since you live here now, you are no longer a stranger and tells him his name, let’s just call him Timothy, why? Because I like consistency. Then here comes the jokes part. Timothy then tells her that he is a primary school student, in 5th grade. Anne has a slight delay but the realization that she is trying to date a elementary school kid kicks in and the WTF reactions and disgust set in. All of the apartment folks are all like, yep, I knew this would happen. Timothy then calls on his 2 other friends, which also look like mature adults and they go and do stupid kid shit, and Anne is still in disbelief liek WTF is going on, why do they look so cool and mature for their age? At the start of this show I knew something was up, because the opening song is kind of metalish, kinda strange. Now I know why. Cause metal doesn’t give a shit; girl is the MONSTER. That’s why. For what it is, the boys are all beautifully gay and the animation is good. Even the main girl is fairly decent and pretty funny in herself. The concept alone is worthy of praise and is very easy material for comedic value and jokes. Yes, this is funny show but with some slice of life and some gay. Ok by me, will watch more.
B-Project – Another male idol anime show for women. We have main girl, she is a noob manager or something, gets hired to manage a big boy idol group, with 3 sub crews. The usual cast of array of gay men are presented to the new manager. She gets overwhelmed and yea, usual noob behavior. After initial introductions she is assigned to take one of the sub crews to do a song recording. They go, she is nervous and is dazzled at how amazing the 2 member sub crew is. But there is a problem at the studio session when the 2 guys sing their shit and it doesn’t “sound” right. After some more frustrations she identifies the problematic “dissonance” to the guys and the sound people. They are impressed, they happy and begin to respect the new manager. The End. Well not really but you get the idea. For what is is, it’s pretty good and I am sure will attract a wide range of female fans. Good animation, design and the like, decent although usual concept. Not bad, not for me.
Rewrite – This is an anime based off Key’s visual novel of the same name that came out a number of years ago, I think in 2011. To be honest I can’t really say if this game ever got a proper anime adaptation but from what I read, this is something of an untold story arc for a mysterious magical/vampire girl character or so. Like most anime’s based off visual novels, show starts off with a wuss guy, let’s just call him Biba, why? Because he was obviously a mistake and nobody wanted him. So anyways, Biba does all the usual shit that a main character does in a prologue part of a galge, you know, meet and greet all the girls and do mild stupid shit to get a better idea of who to aim for when you do start reading your choose your own adventure/waifu. So yea, all of the girls are pretty good and cute, although I must say at this point that the character designs and animation could have been much better if they were done by let’s say, a better anime studio (*Kyoto Animation) but decent enough I guess. After some stupid shit Biba gets to a point where he has to make a decision on a piece of paper/form, does he want to change the world or change himself. It’s not specifically shown what Biba chooses but it goes without saying that he probably picks change the world, boring as expected. Not long after that, some magical ghost vampire girl that was haunting his dreams/memories show up and is taken in a dimension where some talking fairy creatures want to suck his blood or something. Some big monster shows up and tries to ruins shit, girl shows up and fights him with magical floating ribbons, owns monster, goes back to normal world, gets greeted by some other wizard girl or something. End episode. I’m assuming if you played the original game it would have more meaning for you but despite it’s pros, this show isn’t really appealing to me. While the girls are cute, the animation is lackluster and story-scenes/pacing is fairly bad. I’m not really feeling Biba and his questionable ambitions, seems kind of one-dimensional to me. Whatever, good if your a fan, stay away otherwise, there’s better stuff out there.
DAYS – Sometimes, there are things that happen that happen because the world is the way it is today. DAYS is a show that is one example of this. In another period, in another age, DAYS could be summarized as simply a story of a very eager and fragile young man that just so happens to discover the joys and excitement of the sport known as soccer, otherwise around the world known as football, and his journey to become the best soccer player he can be. Usually this entails a lot of hardship, rivalry, friendship, loss and struggle. These are all elements of sport shows/anime. However, due to the nature of our times, any sport show that has men in it, is automatically categorized as a gay anime, because well, that’s what the women want. DAYS is no different. At it’s simplest form, it’s a soccer show, but underneath that basic exterior is very strong gay potential, obviously. Main guy is super gay and annoying, super try hard, but doesn’t know shit about playing soccer, I hate these kinds of main characters. No point in saying the rest of the guys, while they probably aren’t gay, the fans will make them so, so whatever. Add in a bunch of female managers/ fag hag friends and your set. Ugly designs, base boring concept. For what it is, yea, soccer, yea gay if you want it to be. But yea, not for me.
Orange – Reverse Satoru. Basically. It’s kind of hard to tell based on the opening and first segment, but at it’s essence this show shares the same basic themes of that of ERASED/Steins;Gate/other time travel shit, known as REGRETS. Regrets in the sense that choices in your life are made in your youth that after years later, you regret and wished you had done things differently in the past. Main girl, lets just call her Hinazuki, why? Because she doesn’t die but still gets with another dude but still has some regrets. Hinazuki is like 26-27 years old and is married and has a kid, seems good right but she writes letters to herself into the past regarding decisions in her life. For reasons that are yet to be explained, or may never be explained, these future letters get sent to herself 10 years ago and with it the power for her past self to change the future. Her future self specifically mentions trying to interact with the new transfer student or something, saying that was her first love or something, and other shit like, not asking someone out or taking the lead in sports or whatever. Either way this is not really what I expected from this show, I was expecting some pure sentimental love story about life drama friends or whatever. Make no mistake, I’m sure a good chunk of the show is just that, but with this element of time-traveling letters and future insider info, maybe will end up being just like ERASED, aka “GOTTA SAVE <INSERT NAME> FROM GETTING KILLED/DYING, FUCK”. Quality is decent, nothing special about character designs, ok pacing and flow, concept done before but because it’s a women’s perspective, kind of fresh. Will watch more maybe, we’ll see.
Fukigen na Mononokean – Dude is all like, man, i’m such a good boi. I’m going to pick up this stuffed toy on the ground and prevent people from stepping on it, gonna bag it so people can find it easier. Uh oh, the plushie is actually some fluff ball animal creature. Shit this thing is on my back, sucking my energy or somethign. Fuck. Ahwell first day of school. Uh oh I’m so weak I collapse everytime I try to go to school. End up missing the first week of school. Shit. This is bad. I gotta find something to remove this demon thing. Oh hay, there is an ad on the wall for an exorcist, guess I’ll visit the place. Ok, so I go right, and some magic shit happens and a guy tells me to be friends with the furball, it comes off and I feel great, but I feel bad for the thing since it’s going to be sent back to youkai world or whatever. whatever. Shit cost alot of money to exorcise so the shop owner dude, who just happens to be in my class is forcing me to work with him do shit. Yea. that happened. Hope he doesn’t do anything gay with me. The End. This show, while sounding dumb is just the right amount of bait dumb. It’s not good, but it isn’t bad either. Decent animation, decent concept, gay potenial, furry cute creatures, it’s obviously targeted towards women but can be unisex. It’s a bit like mushishi, best show ever created, except at school and is comedy stupid gay shit, but yea, you get the idea. Maybe watch more, maybe.
Tales of Zestiria the X – First episode from horriblesubs labelled as 1, in the episode it’s marked as episode 00, so prologue. Yea, whatever. Based off game of the same name from the Tales series. I never got into the Tales series because the art and character design doesn’t appeal to me. This one is no different. This episode can be summed up with, some fantasy politics shit happen and the princess goes somewhere but in the process crazy shit happens and shit gets ruined and a town is destroyed by a firestorm/sandstorm and a dragon is summoned and ruins even more shit. All of the princess’s friend are dead. The End. Yea, notable about this show is that it’s full 3dcg, it’s pretty good, it’s always getting better but the scenes where they just stand or talk still look stiff, when they fight or some crazy shit is going on, it looks great. I think it’s done by ufotable, same studio that worked on the new fate stay night series. Whatever. First half is boring shit, second half crazy action blow up disaster shit. Decent designs and good animation, for full 3d that is but ultimately not for me. Nope.
More to come, I am on mai wayyy…
