Anime Review Summer Season

Summer 2016 Anime Part IV

And so that’s about it for this season. Nothing to great but tons of gay shit, who know, maybe a few more gems up develop other than THUNDERBOLT FANTASY.

Time Travel Shoujo – So we got main girl. She is pretty dumb and all right but her dad is a scientist who does science things. In the past when she was a kid her dad some said shit to her like, always keep learning and whatever, then fade to white, dad goes missing. Fast forward to teenage years and yea girl still dumb and all. Main girl has a bunch of friends and shit, they her friends.  Yep. So some shit happens and they visit some friend’s house, main girl reads some shit and the necklace that her dad gave her as a kid starts glowing and shit, gets transported back in time. This episode it’s like to England in the 1500’s I think and she meets some famous scientist and learns all about the culture of that era and science stuff, specifically about magnetism. Meanwhile her friends are all like yo what happened to main girl, shittt. Well, this apparently was based off a series of books/ educational manga I think from the 90’s so that explains the slightly dated character designs. The introduction features other prominent famous scientists in history like Benjamin Franklin and Alexander gram bell so I can only assume that she will be traveling in back more to try and find her missing dad. Ok. The tone of the show is pretty laid back/stupid and never takes itself seriously. For what it is it’s fairly mediocre but because science, might watch more.

Handa-kun – This is actually a spin off of top slice of life/calligraphy manga/anime Barakamon about the main guy, Handa during his highschool years. So basically Handa doesn’t give a shit, he’s kind of paranoid and thinks everyone is talking shit about him and that everyone is conspiring against him, he just wants to be a a normal guy and have people leave him alone. Unfortunately, everyone at school thinks he’s “The Shit” and the best coolest handsome guy ever. All the girls like him and all the guys admire to be like him. Thus the basic premise of the show, Handa just wants to live in his own world and keep to himself writing wordz and shit as usual but everyone is always complimenting him and confessing his love to him and shit, and with him, being the pessimist, always thinks it’s some elaborate plan to humiliate him or get revenge on him, even though it really is nothing like that. The first episode is really weird, the first third of the show is about his “Fan” club, a bunch of guys from his school talking about how pro he is and how Handa-kun is getting an anime adaptation. Obviously this is some fourth-wall breaking shit going on and they bros make a ghetto anime themselves because they miss the first episode. So shit moves on and the op sequence is played and the show really begins. Since I liked Barakamon I will probably watch all of this, it’s a different kind of show but still good shit. Decent concept and all, solid animation, watch more.

Ange Vierge – This is some anime based of what I can only see as a mobile game or browser game, similar to that of kancolle or some other collectable trading card game. The main girl is a blue haired girl that has the power of light, basically she can create a lightsaber and uses melee sword fighting. Other characters that are featured in the opening episode are magic witch girls, robotic/mecha-musume girls, and angelic grass type of girls, well basically every color of the rainbow that is the usual elements for these types of games, red, blue, yellow, green, dark, light etc all can fly apparently regardless so ya. So opening scene is all the cards/girls fighting some unknown alien robot things, as usual. They fight and shit, in the center of all of them is their “master” I suppose, called the a-driver or alpha driver or something, can’t remember. This a-driver i can only assume is supposed to be the player, you, but in this show they made the player another cute girl, yes. this is good. So yea, they fight and when the girls get get damaged or hurt the a-driver feels it as well, a-driver is in some energy egg capsule or something giving orders and whatever. Battle ends and the next third of the episode all of the girls are naked in the bath to what I can only assume is resting or repair time, a la boats in similar fashion, talking about the battle and showing off their personality and traits and such. For what this is, it’s not bad, the characters are all cute girls and the concept, while done before, is not important, what your here for is the cute girls, and it delivers. Good character designs, decent animation, all girls-cast, lightsaber main girl. Watch more and see.

Hitori no Shita – The Outcast – I have never quite seen something like this before, shit. Very strange anime show not because the concept is bad or pacing or whatever, but because it’s so CHINESE. SO CHINESE. Indeed, from what I understand from the first episode the story takes place in China, everyone is Chinese, with Chinese names in modern times about Chinese ghost stories or whatever. So we got main guy, let’s call him Zhang, because that sounds pretty Chinese, he’s coming back to his old childhood village after living in the city to visit for some reason. Zhang is all like yea whatever, maybe I shouldn’t have come back, then some police comes up to him and is all like yo, your grandpa’s grave has been desecrated or something, you should check that shit out. Zhang is all like, yea ok, sure. After some stupid shit he ends up going to the grave to check it out and sees some girl trying to dig grandpa up, Zhang is all like yo, what are you doing, girl fights a bit and tries to bury him. Then some CHINESE zombies pop up from the ground and the girl is all like, man shit, gotta kill zombies now and takes her knife and starts kill dem. Zhang is all like wut. End episode with girl running away and but ends up being a new student at his university and she’s like sup hay. Obviously there is some bigger story at play here but whatever. The main girl is pretty Chinese looking, just really long black hair center part. I suppose that’s what I would expect from Chinese people but by anime standards, pretty boring/plain; her personality is the typical cold-indifferent emotionless girl, not that great. Considering that I think this is based off a Chinese comic/manga, produced by Japanese people with animation done by Koreans, I guess it just feels really weird. Not really for me, boring and plain.

Regalia – The Three Sacred Stars – Show starts off when some shit happening and a city blowing up or whatever, battle or struggle of some mechs. Then we focus on some cute little girl with brown/black hair and she is living with a taller older looking girl with blonde hair. They say they are sisters and stuff and making breakfast. Blonde girl wakes up brown haired girl. They have breakfast and talk about daily shit, then little one mentions that she is actually the older sister. wut. After more usual morning activities and daily farewells, blonde girl goes to school. Little one goes to some cafe to eat some stuff, was going to meet blonde girl but meets with some other little girl with white hair, saying some shit about, it’s time, and it’s been awhile, met before in the past. Some more shit happens and brown hair little girl goes to meet white hair girl again at the port, is greeted by some other dude instead, talk and dude activates some shit and gets giant robot/mech suit gonna fight. Little brown hair girl reluctant to do something but ends up using her power and transforms into a red giant robot mech thing. They fight and she wins. Apparently the girl itself is the mech, not a pilot like the badguy dude, bootleg I guess? After the win some shit happens and more world building/political stuff happens. It’s revealed than her “Sister” is actually the queen/empress of the country that they are living in. wow, ok. and yea, stuff happens after that. I think this is an original anime but from what I see so far, it’s not bad. Both girls are cute and fairly attractive and it’s mech show, but for me the record of original mech shows is pretty bad, so we’ll see. Watch more for now but my biggest complaint is the choppy animation and lagginess, or rather, lack of in-between animation. I am not sure if it’s the actual animation that is bad or the encode of the rip was bad, but it just seems really odd/off. We’ll see.

Mob Psycho 100 – So I heard you liked ONE PUNCH MAN? YEA? This is made by the same dude who made that, a dude called ONE. FUCK YEA. Alright, with that said the episode starts with some shadowy figure with glowy eyes fighting some shit, a bunch of crazy insane giant looking monsters and occasional black screens of a number count going up. It eventually reaches 100 and the shadowy figure basically destroys everything in a blast, probably the universe. After some mild introduction about the world and how there is like ghosts and shit and demons, the first thing you see is some ugly ass looking butt-faced women talking to some dude in an office. Ugly girl and her ugly boyfriend talking about their haunted apartment and the dude they are talking to is some guy who claims to be a esper/psyhic and how he can fix their shit by exorcism. Art style and faces so crude and ghetto looking. Dude leads them to their house where he’s just talking shit about how pro he is, which is all a lie, guy can’t do shit and has no power, just a scammer. House ends up having a real spirit and guy gets scared, gotta call for backup. Dude calls MOB, a real esper kid who is in middle school, has a bowl haircut and basically has the same face of Saitama from One Punch man, looks like shit. Basically MOB comes in and owns that bitch ghost with his phyhic powers. Another story about some dead biker gang is also told further illustrating how pro MOB is and that the 100 is relational to his level of annoyance and that if he ever gets to 100, he explodes and shit killing everything why his mad esper skills. So yea, I’m gonna watch this shit for sure. I wasn’t 100% sure that this was written by ONE but once I saw it in the credits and verified on wiki, I was all like, ah yea, this is the shit, One Punch Man kid version. Kewl. Great animation, base concept, crazy ass style character designs and super jokes faces, jokes concepts, fighting, my kinda shit.

Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan – More esper physic shit huh? Well might as well, fucking can’t handle MOB so this kid tries to do somethign else. Main guy is like Saiki I think, well his name is in the title so yea i suppose. He is pro esper physic. He has some antenna in his head. He just wants to live a normal life and shit, yea the base, but it’s hard to do so because he’s so pro and all that shit. Yea. Introduction to his collection of butt ugly looking friends and some girl characters. He can read minds, control objects and basically do anything, even control weather, teleport etc. This is supposed to be comedy and a bit slice of life ghetto and it shows, I think it’s supposed to be a mini show but they end up clumping them all together as make a “episode 1” which technically I feel is actually episode 1-3. yea whatever. Not bad but pretty ugly looking shit. Kinda of base but maybe watch more if looking for stupid shit, maybe more if nothing else.

Mahou Shoujo Naria Girls – Some stupid shit that I don’t’ even know. Mini show and all. This is literally a Idol radio show and they use some 3d cg anime to try and make a story visual. Like the girls are introduced and they talk shit, they are just standing around and talk about stupid shit, you can tell they are all in the same room, like a radio show and it’s all nonsense. Then all of a sudden some dude says something about oh hay, magical girl tiem and they transform into the the clothes that they were already wearing? WTF. LOL. Bad, horrible concept, bad idea, bad voice actors, horrible 3dcg/animation. Shit, nope.

Battery – A sentimental baseball show that is actually not supposed to be gay but women will make it gay anyways cause women. So we have Ichiro here, why? Because that’s the only Japanese baseball player I remember. Ichiro is ace pitcher. He moves to a new town back to where his grandpa lives, his grandpa sounds like he was once an ace pitcher too. Ichiro wants to play ball but for some reason seems to suck now, not sure. He meets some guy on the street while he was jogging, apparently his future classmate, asks to play ball, he’s a catcher. They play ball and they argue about not trying their best and holding back. Meanwhile Ichiro is all like, teach me your knuckleball gramps, I wanna do that shit too; gramps is all like, nope not yet, you’ll ruin your arm. Gramps later basically tells Ichiro that you suck because your not having fun anymore playing ball. etc. The End. I’d like to think this is one of the better baseball shows considering it’s not supposed to be gay and the characters all look like shit. We have some slight initial d thing going on here with grampa but I dunno. Maybe watch another ep but otherwise not for me.

Overall this season is barely decent, there’s a wide range of shows that are entertaining for a good array of people but there isn’t a super must watch new show unless your about sequels or continuations. And as mentioned previously in excess, an huge amount of gay shows for women, I would say almost half of all shows this season are catered towards women and gay bishonon fare. Ahwell, can’t win them all, too lazy to write what I’m gonna watch since it may dramatically change as the season goes by.
