So it’s turning out that fall is the season of sports. I’m ok with that but man, where are my slice of life take it easy shows?
Brave Witches – So after a long hiatus a movies and a few OVAs, strike witches finally makes it’s return to regular seasonal anime television, which is great. Seeing how they have pretty much exhausted the story of the 501 Strike Witches, creators have decided to focus on a new squad, the 502 Brave Witches composed of entirely new girls and or were once minor characters in the movie and ova. There is also a few characters from the the original prequel manga stories that haven’t been seen in the anime yet; well, all of the media created branded as strike witches is the same world so I suppose it makes sense for other characters to cross over and such. Main girl this time just wants to be pro like her sister, which is a pro witch, too bad she kinda sucks in military academy. So basically some shit happened with a rival at her school and they do a race to see who is better in order to get dispatched overseas to form a new witch unit. The expected happens and the other girl who is better ends up getting into a accident and crashes, main girl ends up saving her but as a result both fail the test but because of bravery and such of saving her rival, ends up passing and being deployed. Yay. None of the new witches in the squad have been introduced yet but I’m sure in episode 2 they will start the process. Good animation, good character designs, done before concept but shit man, the original mecha musume before boats and shit, it’s lord shimada humikane’s OG world so I have to watch it.
Nazotokine – Some mini show about a pretty and young office lady who is admired by everyone who also happens to be a big anime otaku and power rangers fan working at a tv station or something and gets sucked into some dimensional portal and some crazy ass bunny/cow thing tells her “yo, you are gonna have to do what I say or you can’t get out of this place.” basically it gives her some powers to transform into a tight fitting plugsuit and then she has to solve some riddles or puzzles. Hmm..I dunno about this. Depending on on if the puzzles or riddles are even good this might be ok to watch, but if not, well it’s shit. There are a bunch of other characters at her workplace that might get involved but who knows. Maybe watch more. Interesting concept and decent art/animation.
Ani Tore! XX – Awww yeaaaaaaa. The return of exercising cute girl min ishow returns for a second season. Wow. What the fuck, I never would have expected this to get another season but whatever I’m not complaining. All of the old girls are back and it appears that they have all moved into a same communal house or apartment? Not sure, the introduction has another new girl not yet introduced but we’ll see in time. Crazy healthy concept and great character designs and animation, cute girls all around. Just hope that they don’t ever use 3d cg like they did for some of the episodes last year.
Cheating Craft – So I heard that Chinese people, or rather all Asian people in general are pro at cheating for tests. Well this mini show literally takes that concept and makes an entire show grounded in that premise. So it’s the near future right. People are stressed and shit because it’s come to the point where entrance exams into college is the single most life defining test in ones life. Parents and students go all out preparing for tests and shit, some do the standard and just study hard and hope for the best, others on the other hand put all their effort into cheating, ensuring their future and career path. Cheating is hardcore to the point of body modifications or developing special gadgets and shit in order to cheat. Some people end up partnering between smart people and cheating people, forming something of a symbiotic relationship. Well that’s what the show is about basically. The entire first episode there is no character dialogue, just a narrator explaining the world and shit. At the end you see a girl with green hair and a guy with orange hair who are about to enter the testing hall, and narrator is all like, this is the story of this pairing. Cue opening/ending sequence. This mini show is alright, the concept is fresh and the character designs tries to appeal to everyone, all the test teams are heterosexual, boy and girl pairing and both look nice. The girls look cute while the guys are standard gayish looking which is fine. Will probably watch more to see how this goes, not bad.
All Out!! – So I heard you like sports anime this season? Not enough gay sports shows for you yet? Well here’s another one, called All Out!!. Just from the name you would think this is maybe baseball but nope, wrong, this shit is about rugby. Wow. Rugby? Who would have thought that this sport would be popular enough in Japan to have a manga and furthermore, for an anime be made of it. So anyways, main premise is like this, so have a blonde white boy. He is very tall and white, he is very wussy however. He used to play rugby in middle school but doesn’t want to in highschool now. Ok. Then we have hype mini fag 1, he is the main character of this show. He is very short and hot tempered, gets angry very easily when people talk about his height, just like many other bitches from other shit, like marty mcfly from back to the future and “chicken” or the latest jojo and his problems with people taking shit about his “hair”. Whatever, some gay shit happens and mini hype fag gets introduced to rugby and picks on the tall blonde white boy because he is a wuss that was once pro but ran away from the sport because he got his former team captain hurt and they lost the nationals. Ye, that kind of story. Pretty gay and all but if you like rugby you can probably get away with watching this even if your a guy, since the gay is not intentional. Everyone looks like shit in my opinion but whatever. No watch.
Keijo!!!!!!!! – Lots of sports this season huh? Well fuck you, this sports show is one that I WILL WATCH FOR SURE. FUCK. This show is basically about the sport Keijo, which basically involves a bunch of big boob, big butt cute hot anime girls trying to knock each other off from platforms into pools of water. USING ONLY THEIR BOOBS OR BUTTS FOR CONTACT. NO HANDS OR LEGS ALLOWED. What the fuck? LOLOLOL. Think a bit like sumo over water. While the entire premise is so outrageously silly and over the top, the interesting thing about the show is that it’s totally serious, it’s not a gag or stupid comedy, it honestly approaches the material as if a real sports story. With that in mind, we have the main girl with blue hair in a ponytail, lets call her Haruna, because she’s pretty daijoubu and cheerful; she wants to be the very best Keijo player around. Haruna has a best friend, lets call her Yumi because she feels like one, she has short white hair and used to be a former judo player. So basically after a series of introductions about the world and shit, we are treated to something of a flashback of the entrance exam where all the girls are in swimsuits and they have to fight to knock each other in the water. You get to see the insane butt slapping action and some serious hardcore rivalries develop and the potential of Haruna and her friend being pro and all. After that they are shown entering the special school for Keijo to train players and shit. Haruna and Yumi are placed in a shit room with 2 other students, standard clumsy girl and quiet girl. Ye. The art style is very good and the animation is very smooth and crisp, the lines often go very thick during impacts and moments of tension during the sport. It’s kind of funny how all the girls are in swimsuits like 80% of the time but their regular school uniform is pretty conservative and covered up. lol. Yea, I am going to watch this. It’s calling to me, how can I not.
Flip Flappers – Some crazy ass original show that is basically a lesbian acid trip into an imaginary world where 2 girls get powers and can do shit with their special world. Ye I dunno. Main girl with short purple hair is just not feeling it, doesn’t know what she wants to do in the future, ends up meeting some strange girl with long orange hair in the forest. They talk and shit and for some reason orange hair girl has some powers or something and a robot friend thing, fall into some rabbit hole in a tube or something. End up in some special dimension, snow place, they have great fun and do shit, then monster comes around and ruins shit. Purple hair girl drops glasses on it, orange hair girl tries to get them back, gets owned fall into river of ice with magical monster. Purple hair girl gets the feels and some power awakens in her, goes and save orange girl from the beast in the water. They happy now, the end. I am not sure what this show is about, like there is some occasional cut-ins from a third party which looks like a lab or scientist place observing the 2 girls but I dunno, I’m sure there is a badguy and or bigger story at play here but the show just seems off. The pacing, the art, animation and tone is very erratic. It tries to be dark, then all of a sudden happy and magical and mysterious, weird. The ending sequence is really cute and cool, but at the end of the day it’s basically a lesbian gay show for women. Weird and not really my thing, drop.
Drifters – Easy top candidate for most manliest show of the season. So, basically, I heard that you like vikings and this place called valhalla, you know that heaven for warriors where true men and only the most strongest of warriors can live and battle for eternity, well; Drifters from initial impressions is basically like that, except from a Japanese samurai point of view. Let me further explain. So we have samurai guy from back in the day, he’s all loyal and shit right, defending his lord, he’s famous I guess but in the end he is trapped and about to die, he manages to get away but all of a sudden he is standing in a white room filled with doors with this one guy with glasses at a desk. Desk guy doesn’t say shit and just looks at the samurai guy and then a door, door opens and samurai guy gets sucked into the door. Samurai guy wakes up and is greeted by some elf looking people and is all like what the fuck is this, where am I. Elf people take him to some place, ends up meeting other japanese people and eventually finds out they are all famous historical warriors and shit, one being Nobunaga and the samurai guy looses his shit and doesn’t believe it. Ye I see where this is going. The art style and animation are pretty good, very manly and bold with a lot of intensity for action scenes. Probably going to watch more of this, hope it turns out good.
More to come…
