Finished the boat event with lots of time to spare and got pretty much everything that I wanted, namely the new battleship and such so ya it’s all good. But to be brutally honest, none of these new boats are waifu material; they are in fact, quite shitty designed boats overall. With that said, it’s understandable that in general the kancolle community is disappointed with the new boats; comparing these guys to what Lord Shizuma Yoshinori and Shimada Humikane have been designing lately and this batch is just pure generic potato shit. Ah-well, can’t have good waifus all the time.
4. Okinami
Garbage gumo-like destroyer that I will forget about and eventually unlock to make room for space. Fuck man, why do they have to make the entire class of destroyers so shit with some of the ugliest clothing designs. Sure she has glasses thing going but that spot is safely occupied by Kirishima with her bonus sideboob and mic check 123 testing. Ye Okinami is garbage.
3. Etorofu
Oh boy what the hell do we have here? A new boat class? “Etorofu Class Coastal Defense Ship” heh. So this thing is basically a shitter destroyer that can only do sub warfare and opening anti-sub strike. I suppose there could be some use to her in the future if they plan to continue the heavy sub and anti-sub theme that they seem to be doing so far this year but yea, her actual design is nothing to get excited about. Sporting red braid locks hair, sailor uniform sailor hat and loli proportions she is definitely the better of the total 3 new sub defense boats. The other 2 new ones look so generic and plain that many people on complained about that shit, so much so that the artist apologized on twitter for doing such as half ass fuckup job on these new boats. Lest to say that his previous boat designs are only slightly better but that’s not saying much. Decent, but far from a waifu.
2.Kasuga Maru
Designed by the (in)famous Shibufu, known primarily as the designer of Akagi/Kaga and the Fubuki class of destroyers, some ugly BBVs, Mikuma and a few others; Shibufu has become famous for his…lack of improvement in drawing since first contributing art for kancolle. With faces that stoic and plain like Kasuga Maru, it’s no wonder all of this dude’s shit become known as “potatoes”. Dude, fucking get better at drawing, the boats that you made are kinda important you know; don’t let Shizuma Yoshinori and Shimada Humikane ruin you with their godly designed waifus. Lest to say that this boat is literally what you get if you combine Akagi/Kaga in small form. Yea. I’m not really feeling it. Her name changes to Taiyou in later upgrades to reflect her role as a light carrier since she was an ocean liner before and gets some pretty interesting abilities that no boats have yet in the game; namely as the first light carrier to do airstrikes in night battle and is geared for anti-sub warfare, being able to do opening anti-sub attack and has inherently high anti-sub stats. As a clear reward for E3 she is not bad, considering that you get a FUCKING PROTOTYPE CATAPULT also from clearing the stage helps ease some of the visual pain after getting her. I’m not sure if I want to use my easy catapult to kai ni those crane carriers to CVB or use it on her to get her to maximum anti-sub potential. It seems kind of a waste and bullshit for her to need a Catapult to kai ni but that’s what they did. Gay. Might hold on for it until next event just to see if sub shit is really where this shit game is going.
1. Gangut
Alright this is it, the first Russian battleship in kancolle, another foreigner’s first, only preceded by Hibiki as the first Russian boat. People were hyped, they were looking forward to it, thinking perhaps that pro designers Shizuma Yoshinori and Shimada Humikane might be the ones to handle this one since they have been doing all foreign boats lately. Alas, that was not the case and people once again were disappointed when images of her first appeared. She looked like shit, with a weird ass forward leaning pose that covered her neck. WHAT THE FUCK LOLOLOL. Things got better when her kai 2 art was discovered which is much improved but I think it says something when the original form art of a boat is so shit that people were relieved when her kai 2 art looked normal. You shouldn’t need to be relieved, boat should look good to begin with, not until I upgrade to her final form. As a fast battleship, she is decent in terms of stats but nowhere near the levels of OP that Iowa has. Comparatively speaking, she is inferior in pretty much every way to the latest fast battleships like Iowa and even inferior to the Kongo sisters. Fuck. Why guys. Sporting a white military jacket worn loosely, you can’t really tell if there are boobs or not so that doesn’t help, her brown shirt is ugly too. Stockings, white long hair and a nice boat hat help but overall Gangut is just very underwhelming. At kai 2 her jacket is taken off and draped on her shoulders seeing only brown shirt. Ugly. So much better pose, but I think actually worse than her original form. The jacket is cool, why take it off bitch? Not impressed, will level up of course but not impressed you can do so much better artist of Hibiki.
