So what happens when you end up going to an anime convention for 3 days straight? Obviously you will get tired and you will see alot of great cosplay, see some stupid shit or catch up with old friends; but outside of those things I’m taking about loot: Hard Loot, Hard Physical loot. These are the things that I picked up over the course of the entire convention.
In the above picture, this is what I generally brought from the dealers room. 3 volumes of non-non biyori, 3 volumes of nichijou, 2 volumes of yotsuba, initial d first stage comple dvd set, 3 artbooks and a danboard little mini figurine thing and in the center of it all is from what I have been told a plush of of “ebi fry” a plushie from Sumikko Gurashi. Ye, I know. The danboard I got for $5 from Nominoichi.
Ebi fry is pretty soft and like I mentioned in my day 3 post, dude kinda spoke to me on a existential level. His expression is like he’s saying “Ball?” or even “Why Tho?” couldn’t resist and the best part of it is that it was only $13. Holy shit that’s cheap and it’s good quality. I suspect that it is official legit goods but for whatever reason, was deemed defective and sent here to be sold to the masses for cheap. I’m pretty sure that he normally doesn’t have a jersey and ball but whatever, maybe special edition gone wrong? Either way, good shit.
Side view of the book spines and dvd that I got. The 3 artbooks I got for $40 dollars as the dealer was selling them at discount price, $20 for each or $40 for 4. Yugioh one was for my sister, the other 2 being for myself. The volumes of the books I got were kinda weird, well for Non-non biyori I already had 1-3, but for nichijou I already had 2 and 3, so I ended up picking up the ones I missed. Yotsuba volumes I got from Harry T’s buy 1 get 2 free, with the other book going to someone else. Initial D first stage was half price off and I didn’t even know it until I got to the counter so ended up only $15 dollars! what a steal!
Although overall the quality of the art selling from artists alley was weaker than in previous years I did en up picking a number of prints which I deemed was worthy of my money. Picked 3 prints from the top row with art featuring of Akira, Persona 4 Futaba and Eva Asuka. The style of this artist is really well done with alot of detail and has hidden references and shit within the scene; very cyber-punk and raw feeling, good shit.
The bottom row I got of Konsuba’s Megumin and Darkess; the last image is of Kanna from Dragon maid. I’m not a huge fan of Konosuba but this art was well done so I brought it because at least I know the characters. Same for dragon maid. All by the same artist well done.
I also got a print featuring this sick ass initial d moment and Kongo from boats. The Initial D print I think was a 3d render with some 2d re-touching and highlights, extremely well polished and I knew that I had to buy it when I first saw it. The sheer nostalgia compelled me. Would have gotten more art from the Kongo artist but like I said, fucking guy/girl wasn’t there so I made due with just this. Good clean style and lines. Also pictured is the book and pass from AN. At the bottom I got some Idol Master Cinderella Weiss Schwarz cards for fun, but overall very disappointing because the card art was literally screen-caps from the anime. FUCK bad. I had more entertaining time with the kancolle cards because they used offical cg art used in the game and it was good. This is just plain lazy bullshit. Waste.
Overall my haul for this convention is pretty moderate. There are a few things that I got that I forgot/didn’t want to show like little shit like buttons and stuff but that’s ok you get the idea. Back in the day I would pick up figures and shit but now I just buy them directly from AmiAmi or Hobbysearch, can’t be bother to lug around a heavy box for whole day and besides, shit is marked up in price.
Well that about does it, fucking done writing about conventions until August for FanExpo, except that shit will be just one day. Ahh.
