Kancolle

Heroes of Kancolle Summer 2017 Event

Another summer and another boat event is completed. Yea, who knows how long kancolle will continue now that Flash has officially been given a death date of 2020. I would honestly be very surprised if the creators of kancolle continue to develop the flash game until the very end, my bet is that they will try to continue to develop the arcade version of the game and eventually port it to consoles in order to keep the franchise alive while in the meantime, they either develop a pure iOS/Android version of kancolle or start from scratch within a kancolle2 or something. In any regards, this event was overall a lot more relaxing in comparison to earlier events, namely that they were finally more lax on the last map and allowed all boats to be used, evet on medium and hard difficulty. For me that doesn’t even matter because I did the majority of the maps on easy so yea boi, don’t give a shit. There was a lot of subs this event and a new boss sub as pictured in the above image so anti-sub boats were a huge asset this time. Some people found the event hard, I found it ok, it was long and time-consuming, but nowhere near as bullshit as let’s say, the first or second event after they first implemented land air bases or any of the events pre-land air base. It’s OK, good good, let’s take a look at the boats that were heroes this time.

10. Bismarck

I can’t remember if this is the first time Bismarck has appeared on this list but yea in any regards she did well this time as a strong fast battleship in several of maps that gave bonus damage if they were “European” boats. Bisko did great for I think maybe 1 or 2 maps? Can’t remember but she cool.

9. Graf Zeppelin

I’m pretty sure that this is the first time that Graf has appeared on this list of hero of our time. Honestly, even though I got her during the first event she was available, I only started leveling her up like 3 or so months ago because I figured, heh German carrier, why not. Her stats are ok but she’s not particularly super in anything and honestly; for a full carrier there are so many other boats that do it better. However, she has a excellent design and satisfies the “European” boat thing for some maps just like Bismarck so yea, good job.

8. Warspite

To top off the segment all about “European” boats, Warspite makes her first appearance on this list cause from the wiki it says that if you had her in the fleet or as leader, your boats would do extra bonus damage in those European maps. Whether or not that was true I am not entirely sure but in any regards this was the first time I used her in an event and she performed well enough to deserve mention. Good job British boat.

7. Prinz

Topping off the cake with the “European” boats is Prinz, ace heavy crusier and all round great relibly strong waifu boat. I think I used her in my fleet whenever there was a combined comp required and especially in those European maps for bonus damage. Keep on doing your thing Prinz.

6. Tone/Chikuma

After a long time of getting medals I finally managed to get Chikuma to kai2 and finish off this “set” and I have no regrets. These girls were heavily used in combined comps and served greatly with additional airpower when needed and shelling shit when it counted. Although it has been discovered that these sisters in fact, DO WEAR PANTIES underneath their skirt according to official character designs from the kancolle movie, it doesn’t matter, they still don’t in my mind, and that’s what matters most. Good job.

5. Shoukaku/Saratoga

Yea boi, carriers to the rescue for once. I finally got a hold of the free prototype flight deck last event and decided to upgrade my Shoukaku finally to kai2 remodel, fuck. She’s good shit, but you know what’s even better? Saratoga is pretty good shit too, plus she’s American so yea, fuck yea; America. For once carriers other than Kaga/Akagi got some attention and props. I did use Kaga/Akagi as well but they kinda failed me one to many times by getting hit in the red, so yea, not here today.

4. Hatsuzuki

Somewhere somehow, there needs to be some kind of dedicated anti-air cut-in boat for these lists and during these events; this time that just so happens to be Hatsuzuki. She was a bit under-levelled compared to her sister so yea, that’s why I used her instead of Akizuki. I still need Teruzuki to complete the set, shit. Ah well, I like Hatsuzuki more oaver Akizuki anyways, both are excellent destroyers with AA cut-ins. Feels good when you gain air superiority after AA-Cut in. Fuck yea.

3. Asashio

Wow. Where the hell did you come from? Asashio? Seriously? Number 3 on this list? Why? Well let me tell you why; Kai2 type D = opening anti-sub cut in attack from a destroyer without bullshit boosting or like level 155 or some shit. Yea, to be honest I don’t really know/remember why I leveled this boat up, her art wasn’t that great in the first place but it was better than most when compared to other forgettable destroyers. I guess I needed more destroyers and decided to follow through with her (maybe cause loli?). I was leveling her up even before they announced her kai2 so I was pleasantly surprised that she wasn’t shit and actually had 2 forms, one being emphasis on anti-sub battle, which is excellent for this event as there were a lot of sub nodes and many new sub bosses along the way. I think in e7 it’s mandatory that you have to kill the new sub bosses or you won’t even get to the final boss. Anyways, good shit, good job anti-subbing loli boat Asashio.

2. Isuzu

When we talk about anti-sub battle; how can you not talk about Isuzu? The forgettable light cruiser that apparently has big boobs and got super upped when they kai2 her and became the first boat to be able to do the whole opening anti-sub cut-in attack, changing the way we do battle with subs. Much like Asashio, Isuzu is second on this list because fuck man, there was alot of subs this event that needed a whooping, and with the combined strength of both of these two, shit was relatively easy. When you have 2 boats automatically killing 2 enemy subs on your way to the boss and pretty much guarantees s rank on sub nodes, it makes maps and the event as a whole a lot more tolerable and consistent to the point where you could almost be said to be having “fun” playing boats. I knoe right? Amazing. Honestly, I like Isuzu quite a bit, she’s one of the few light cruisers which I respect alot and use regularly to help clear the monthly W1 Extra map for medals. Good job big boob twintails light boat.

1. Iowa

Wow Iowa? Really? Damn right Iowa is the top, fucking making America Great Again. This event had me use a very wide range of boats, from carriers to battleships to destroyers and some other shit, but among all of the boats I used, Iowa still came out on top as the most reliable, strong and most frequently used boat throughout the event. Fuck that shiplocking bullshit, EASY MODE MOTHERFUCKER, use all the boats again! When da mission calls for a fast battleship, you know who to call; Iowa, that’s who bitch. None of this Kongo class, Italian pasta boat nonsense, if you want POWER and RELIABILITY rivaling that of the likes of Nagato-class, Yamato-class battleships, Iowa is who you call. Forget about the horrible engrish, feel the power of the American spirit. Oh wait, the map calls for “European” boats? FUCK THAT SHIT, USE IOWA ANYWAYS. GET MVP ANYWAYS REGARDLESS. BITCH. OP American boat is OP if you allow her to be. I don’t think she ever got hit in the red either. Congratulations Iowa, you blonde big boob amazing American hero of our time, the Trump of the Fleet, the MVP winner, good job.

Honorable Mentions: Some shitty light carriers, Haruna/Kongo, some other good destroyers like Shigure/Poi/Shimakaze/ Yukikaze etc, Abukuma because yea whatever/Kitakami, cause yea, whatever torpedoes.

Bonus:

All of the boats in the image above were used this event.
