Summer events tend to have very good rewards and new boats cause summer and that means lots of maps and farming. However, I’ve come to the point where I don’t want to farm for boats anymore unless they are really really good design or out of the ordinary and with that said I didn’t farm at all. I did get some new boats however out of sheer luck or the usual result of clearing maps in the event; either way let’s take a look at the new boats that I got this time around.
7. Makigumo
Piece of shit gumo. New drop for me but I doubt she will last till next event. Just to make room for new boats this event I already scrapped like 4-5 gumos which are all rare but in all likelihood will never level up so yea, what’s the point. This one is a ROLL that is a MAKI-gumo and her design is a little better but what the fuck is with the pose? She hands no arms huh? Sleeves too long? Shit. Glasses and pinkish hair are fine but gumo so yea, shit.
6. Fujinami
Oh wow, look another gumo, but this one doesn’t even have the GUMO in her name so even worse or maybe that’s better maybe. Decent smile and eyes, but everything else is standard shit gumo. Her pose is even so plain, while MAKI-GUMO is rolling along trying to be dynamic, this girl is all like, no, I”m just gonna stand. Shit.
5. Arashi
Another rare destroyer that was available a few events back I think but ever bothered to try and farm for her. Well, this time I got her and she’s alright. Her personality is kind of a tomboy and her voice is rough/rash sounding, similar to Tenryu which is cool. I didn’t know she had thighhighs untill I saw her full cg art so that’s definely a surprise plus from me. Her hair is cool, messy and nice and rice and pose ready for action with a shell or something that she is juggling. Clothes is interesting too, similar to some other boats but I like the vest thing going on. Will probably keep her but we’ll see. Not bad.
4. Matsuwa
Oh noes, a very very loli boat indeed. Done by the same artist of the other “Coastal destroyer” boat that was released last event so the art is about the same, which is kind of generic but could definitely be a lot worse that’s for sure. I dunno about her design, she’s ok with the hat, ribbons and color scheme but I’m not really feeling this one. Still haven’t even leveled up the other DE that I got but whatever, probably will keep since she’s a rare.
3. Hatakaze
Wow wow, another prize destroyer of the kamikaze class from E2 reward, all so done up and classy in kimonos as usual. Yea, I can’t really say anything bad about her design because I like the kamikaze class designs with the boots and kimono thing in general. She has nice colored hair and some rich curls or ringlets which I like; the color of her kimono is also pleasing as well as her pose, which is fairly elegant I guess. I just wish that they would get some K2 or something and not be expedition slaves and be actually useful for something, even torpedo pre-emp would be nice from these boats. Keep.
2. Richelieu
All right then, fuck yea, now we are getting some good boats now. So after some dude designed an ugly french aviation carrier which is pretty much useless in battle named the Commandant Teste, boat director is all like, yea I guess we should make a french battleship now, and so with that we get fast battleship Richelieu as reward for E4 clear. To be perfectly honest, I am indifferent with her design, coming from the same guy that did Teste, you knew what to expect, kinda derp face, blonde hair, questionable facial features and clothing choices and accessories but hey, this is a french battleship so anything goes I guess. I actually like the design of her ship parts, they are cool but her usual clothing? Not so much. Nevertheless, she’s a battleship so that’s always good, but in terms of raw strength, she’s comparable to the kongo sisters k2 and italian battleships and superior to the russian battleship we got last time, Gangut I think. Of course she is inferior in every way to Iowa but that is to be expected. Still good, level up regardless but man I really don’t like this artist’s work.
1. Ark Royal
Alright here she is, the reason why you went through the bullshit event and play boats, the grand prize from E7; the first British carrier, the Ark Royal. The wiki page says it’s unconfirmed but it’s likely she is designed by Konishi, the same artist that did Warspite, the Kongo sisters, Suzuya/Kumano, Shoukaku/Zuikaku and several other destroyers. At first glance she feels at home with the rest of the boat girls both stylistically and aesthetically which is a good thing. Contrasting the queen that Warspite is, Ark Royal sports short cut red hair and a hairband that seems like a tiara as well of some sort, very royal indeed. Opting for more simplified white/light gray clothing designs, she wears this long sleeve jacket thing with something that resembles a torso corset and shorts, mid length skirt thing and stockings. Cool modern looking fashionable girl indeed. Her ship parts are very minimal considering that she is a carrier and integrate well with her skirt actually which is great. Most interesting is probably how they incorporated her flight deck, making it into a composite modern bow furthering the historical archetype of British people being good at archery because yea, longbow men represent. Kinda. Her holder also has arrows which vaguely represent planes which is cool. If Saratoga can have a flight deck Tommy gun with rounds filled with planes, then Ark Royal can just fall in line with the rest of the Japanese carriers then with them all being arrows and bow shit. Her chest and boobs are nothing to get excited about, pretty modest I would say but it doesn’t matter since she is supposed to be more of a leg girl anyways, like Warspite which is fine. Overall I really like her design, it’s probably one of Konishi’s better designed boat girls outside of the Kongo sisters and Suzuya/Kumano and is consistent with Warspite’s theme, royal, in a warship kinda way. It also helps a lot that her ship parts is so minimal after the gigantic footprint that Warspite had and with it the jokes that she was disabled because she was sitting. Level up for sure.
