Anime Review Fall Season

Fall Anime 2017 Part I

Holy shit it’s Fall Season already? Wow, time does fly when you are physically handicapped and disabled. I ended up watching not too much last season which is fine but hopefully Fall has some better stuff, it should.

Blade Runner Black Out 2022 – A short anime in english produced by the director of the new blade runner movie that just came out done by well known anime directors and such. Takes place a few years after the events of the original movie. Kinda whatever and more atmosphere than anything else. There was some fighitng, pretty good action and stuff with a girl and black guy replicant doing some shit. Not bad, but just a one off thing I suppose.

Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte Kara – A mini show about a blonde office lady who is responsible/competent and good at work but when she goes home to her husband starts drinking and doing drunk things. Ok, kinda mildly humerus and since it’s a mini show will probably pick it up since it’s only like 3 minutes anyways, designs are whatever.

THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS Theater – Continuation of the idolmaster Cinderella girls mini chibi show a few seasons back. I enjoyed the first offering so will probably end up watching these as well. It’s come to the point where there is so many girls now that I have to point out the ones that I do recognize and or were featured in the full-length anime a year or so ago. No bad it’s cute.

The iDOLM@STER Side M – So looks like this season is the season for idol shit huh? This show is a spin-off the idolmaster franchise except well, instead of cute girls you get some pretty boys and shit. I watched the episode 0 and episode 1 of this and it’s surprising not bad for gay idol animes go. For one thing while the guys are supposed to be bishonen, they are pretty decent and not over the top “beautiful” like some other shits go for for women keeping in line with the same character design style as idolmaster girls franchisees. The episode 0 follow one crew of male idols while episode 1 focused on some other guys just starting out, the main center idol guy is actually a former laywer who quit his job because he had a disagreement with his firm and wanted to do the right thing and help people, or rather, make them “smile” again. So yea, it’s interesting because this guy is kinda old, like 28 and he’s getting into becoming a idol? wow, that’s pretty different I suppose. They probably won’t focus on him tho, but other dudes but ye, this show is not too bad, it’s pretty genuine for idol shit, male idol shit especially. Decent character designs, decent premise, pacing and story and surprising does push gay that much, since i’m assuming people watching this will do that on their own. Maybe watch more but yea, depends how I feel.

Black Clover – Some crazy fantasy bullshit show about two orphan kids growing up at some church by some priest guy and nun and they grow up to become magical wizards or some crazy shit like that. So yea, cue 2 babies being left at church, priest has some funny time and takes them in wholeheartedly, fast forward like 15 years and the two babies are grown boys, one with black hair and the other white. White hair boy is typical hype-ling who wants to be a hero or best wizard shit but is the worst, has no power at all, while black haired boy is calm, cool and super pro at magic, lots of power. Their birthday comes and as tradition writes all kids who turn 16 are given a magical book/grimoire to match their skills and or career path and shit, kinda like harry potter and choosing a wand. So the deed goes on and of course black hair gets some legendary book with a clover on it which used to belong to a king or something, people impressed. White haired boy gets nothing, no magic power so gets shit, laughed at, he is mildly depressed buy determined anyways to try again next year. Some shit happens and black haired boy gets attacked and thief wants to steal his magic book, in a tight situation. White boy comes in and fights the thief wizard with fists off but gets owned anyways, almost dead white boy but of course the power within is awakened and he summons a black clover book, which apparently as black boy says, is the mark of a demon, or demon powers. So yea, that happened. Whatever, for what it is, it could be much worse and I’m sure some would like to watch this but yea, not for me, decent char designs, mediocre premise and pacing, annoying bad voice acting, particularly the white haired boy, shit. Nope, not watch.

Sengoku Night Blood – Oh boy, here we go again, got the word “Sengoku” in the title? Yep. Looks like we are in for another exercise in Nobunaga and friends in the warring states period of japanese history. Gay women show bait here we come. So what will it be this time? Well basically girl is normal girl in normal world, turns on her smartphone and is TRANSPORTED to the game world I can only assume. FUCK MAN AGAIN?! So anyways we have our mary sue established and a whole slew or warring states generals and the like come to greet her and do battle. The fractions all do mild twists between each other such as one being like kinda cat eared people, dog-people and the likes with the main crew being vampires. yea, Night Blood tru dat. So anyways the usual happened and all your favorite Nobunagas and Yukimuras are introduced, with the main boy this time being the monkey gold guy, Hidoyoshi. Heh. For what it is i’m sure it’ll be watched by women but the character designs are so elaborate and colorful, so much asymmetrical design for clothes that everyone just feels kinda disjointed and not a whole, like just a clusterfuck of pretty boys-things I would never know what guys belong to what crew unless they said their name, like there’s no color or anything, everyone is a rainbow color palette here. Shit. Decent character designs but the premise is so done before and the extra pull is hardly worth the effort unless you play the mobile game I’m sure, then it’s like yea, fuck yea my husbando is the shit. Yea, nope, not watch, there’s better gay shit out there.

Juuni Taisen – Some action show meets etotama and battle royale and some other killing for money dragonball wish prize wizard shit. So it’s like this, there are 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, these animals are represented by various families and people who are trained killers/assassins/soliders or whatever. For some reason, unknown to the viewer the 12 houses or groups choose a person to go into some place to kill all the other zodiac signs in order to get a prize, the prize being a “WISH” from some wizard or genie guy who organizes this event which happens one every number of years or so. Note that his is modern times so we have some guys with guns, explosives and poison and other gimmicky powers like necromancy and sniping/hearing bullshit. The first episode focuses on the pig family their story of how they choose their fighter, some family of rich white girls and how the eldest daugher got shit on by her father and ended up selected her younger sister to enter the battle. Eldest daughter is angry and jealous of her sister so systemically ruins her sister and makes her go crazy through her training, maker her kill everyone where her father has to lock her up, ends up killing herself. Eldest daughter is now default chosen to be in the battle, fast forward to the battle and some shit happen, introductions and the like but still focus on pig girl. Lest to say, she thinks she’s all that with guns and shit but ends up getting killed so easily and quickly underestimating the rabbit sign guy. The End. End episode. Well, the animation is done very well, very smooth action and fighting but i’m not sure about the character designs, they are interesting and unique, but not good in the slightest, to me all are ugly, both guys and girls so yea, no points there. The tone is pretty serious/dark which is natural but I feel it’s missing something, dunno. I can only assume that each episode they will do the same thing like the pig girl, cover a animal fraction/family and their story before their eventual death and continue on to the next animation. Ok show, but not really my thing. Nope.

URAHARA – If there was a show that has a synopsis that reads, looks good on paper but in actual execution fails, this would be it. Oh boy what a mess and lost opportunity this shit was. Essentially the show is about a bunch of fashionable highschool girls that own a store in harajuku that make clothes and shit cause fashion and location but are forced to become heroes with powers in order to defend aliens from absorbing the culture of japan and harajuku. Yes, this show is basically Kado, except with cute girls that arn’t really that cute and have crazy colorful shit transformed clothes. The main girl is kinda soft spoken and normal girl kind/lazy, other girl is twintails and tsundere helpful usual, and last girl is hyper yellow girl usual generic flaky dumb. The entire show has a very pastal color pallete which is fine but it also employs very round soft lines and other stylistic liberties which in all honest is just fuff and adds nothing. Sure there is chibis here and there but none of it is any funny at all, which is why you would use chibis to begin with. The pacing of the show is pretty bad too, just too fucking slow, 60% of the show was just the girls journey to work, talking about daily life/their mad fashion skills/praising each other/delicious food and the other 30% is them watching the alien invasion, talking to the creature that gives them powers and other nonsense, the amount of time they were actually transformed is like less than 10%. The girls themselves are kinda shit with thick ass eyebrows and unique but not good designs. I’m sure some would like this show, maybe women but this is not for me. Nope.

Konohana Kitan – This is a cute show about a little cat/fox eared girl that is taken to some traditional Inn and has to work there and shit. First things first, everyone in this world has ears and are in various degrees of anthropomorphism, some are straight up furry shit while the majority of the characters of importance just have the ears and maybe a tail and are otherwise visually fully human. With that said they never address it in the show but whatever, I guess maybe they will get to that, takes place in feudal Japan, or at least a alternate world very similar to that. In any regards this is a pretty chill cute slice of life comedy fare that I have sorely been longing for since the summer season really didn’t have any take it easy moe material. Main girl is nooby and weak at her job which is fine, there is a usual purple haired girl that is kinda tsundere hardworker, very quiet shy girl that is a little bit strange girl with black hair and a girl that straight up looks like blue Saber from fate stay night except much taller and with boobs at cat ears. The general format of the show from what I can tell is that some strange guests come and visit the inn and the main dumb girl learns about them and hospitality and culture etc. Good chill moe funnies, good character design and decent pacing, premise done before but whatever, it’s slice of life so I’m going to watch this. Fuck yea.

Tsukipro The Animation – Season of gay male idols indeed. No doubt based on a mobile game of some sort we have all the usual bishonen archtypes, cool boy, hype boy, emo boy, glasses boy all wrapped together trying to make it big with idols. I can hardly remember what I watched since it’s been a few days but one of the problems with the show is that all the guys look too plain and shit, too similar and the designs themselves lack detail. Won’t go further into it because I can’t even remember but yea, it’s shit, there’s better gay idol shit around this season.

Pikotarou no Lullaby Lullaby – Also labelled as Ame-con!! for some reason it’s basically about a dude running a restrautnt in hawaii or something and he has a dog. Yea, that’s about it. It’s a mini show less than 3 minutes and honestly I have no idea what it’s about other than what I said above. I think it’s gay? There are a few guys in it? Whatever, nope. Shit all.

Just Because! – An extremely sentimental high school drama growing up story of youth regret set in the modern era. So we have fag boy here, let’s call him Kai, because Tetsuo is too good for him. Anyways, Kai is a transfer student, sure sure cool cool, but the thing is here is that the school that he is transferring too is in his old hometown, where all of his old friends and shit from elementary school/middle school went. Uh oh, it’s going to be one of those isn’t it? So first episode goes through the usual ropes of introduction with some of his new classmates kinda recognizing him but not sure. Shit happen and he eventually re-connects with his old best friend while he was hitting some balls in the baseball field. Old best friend is all like, yea, all I wanna do is just hit a home run before I graduate, which is this year. So, we have the scenario here where it’s the last year of high school with a fag boy of old returns and tries to talk to them and help/fix relationships and unfulfilled dreams of youth with people that used to be in his life while at the same time meeting new ones all the while trying to not be awkward with his old girlfriend and or some other drama worthy shit with no doubt by the end he will reconcile his feelings with his old girlfriend be be like yea, yea I still love you, with the eventual result being they get back together or more realistically because we live in a ruined world, they both acknowledge each other but go their separate ways cause dreams or whatever. Seriously this would work wonders if it was a korean or japanese drama so I dunno why they make an anime here.

Ousama Game – I am not entirely sure if this was a sequel or not but it kinda feels like it. So we have a fag boy, let’s call him billy, because i’m don’t give a shit. Anyways, billy is always nervious and shit, apparently he survived some “King’s Game” or something, which is the title of this show. So anyways this “King’s Game” works like this, people get a text message from the king and they have to do whatever it asks or else you will die in one form or whatever, similar to like death note I suppose except the “player” knows what’s going to happen to them in advance unless they follow the deed requested. Our boy billy apparently is a transfer student, no doubt trying to get away from the horrors of being the winner of the last “King’s Game” with everyone he knew at school being killed, including his girlfriend and shit. However, try as he might, he still recieves a text message from the King to start the shit again in his new town. Billy wants to just end it and die already to end the line of messages but some shit happens and he ends up fullfilling the task thus triggering more tasks for everyone in his class and the town. Billy is sad because he wanted to die but is trying his best to warn everyone of the messages but they don’t listen, a good chunk of his class kills themselves because they didn’t fulfill the deed and they are all scared, accuse Billy of being the murdering and deaths. Tells everyone that it’s all true because he was the winner of the last game, and yea, more people die, end show. This show is ok but the pacing is a bit slow and disjointed for me, it has too much of the “why don’t you fuckers believe BILLY bitch!” don’t you know your going to die? Yet you don’t believe it and accuse Billy? I’m tired of a main boy being so right but noone believes his shit kind of show. Decent premise and decent designs but fuck it. Not for me.

Taishou Chicchai-san – A mini show about fedual japan and some beautiful gay guy riding a train and for some reason once he enters this country he becomes a cute chibi thing. The end. I dunno what is this shit. Nope.

More to come…
