Here we go, looks like we got some good stuff in this batch, fall is turning out to be pretty good shit, despite the tons of male idol shit.
Net-juu no Susume – This is a good show, at least from the initial first episode. So it’s like this, we have Susume, we see her coming back home to her apartment alone from work in her office lady clothes, she is 30 years old and is carrying a flower bouquet, it was her last day at work; she quit because she has given up on the working life and has committed herself to be a NEET for as long as she can. She takes off her office clothes for the last time and turns on her computer, logs into her favorite online rpg to relax and escape into the game for the foreseeable future. However, she’s got bad luck, she hasn’t played in so long, maybe like half a year and it turns out that the game has shut down. Fuckkkkk. Anyways, she goes around online checking out on recommend new online games and finds one. Cue male bishonen character creation, cause you don’t want to be a girl in the game if your one already in real life right? So anyways montage of gameplay happens and general noobery untill her in game character is helped by some magical priest girl. As expected they hit it off and they party together becoming friends, fast forward another half a year or something and she is super pro now and tight with the in game priest girl, it’s Christmas and they do Christmas couple things in game. Susume has ran out of food unfortunately and has to make a convenience store run, on her way several other people are highlighted on the journey, which I can only assume are some of her guild friends but she doesn’t know it yet. Of course they focus on one dude which is highly likely the in game priest girl. She gets her shit and makes it back to her apartment without saying a word to anybody, mission accomplished. The End. Well now, that was kinda interesting and a bit different, not unique but certainly different because normally for these types of stories it’s a fag guy who is the neet online gamer but this time it’s a girl who is just anti-social and typically cynical, a much tamer tired version of the girl from Watamote, Tomoko Kuroki, but is taller, older and has medium-big boobs. Not confirmed. Not really full slice of life but I expect more jokes and comedy and maybe a bit of romance/drama with in game elements kind of like sword art online bullshit but still keeping it real and casual. Decent animation and character designs, I don’t hate anyone yet and that’s definitely a plus. Will probably end up watching this, hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be bullshit bait.
Kino no Tabi – Wow. Seeing this is certainly a blast from the past. Kino no Tabi or “Kino’s Journey” is a novel series that was adapted into an anime in the early mid 2000’s which I remember watching and thought was pretty good. I think there was a movie as well but in any regards this is a new anime and shit’s pretty good too. The story is simple, Kino is a traveler with her companion Hermes, which is a talking motorcycle. Yea, I know. So anyways Kino also carries a few guns and knives for her protection along her journey as well and yea, that’s the basic premise of the show; Kino goes to some place, some incident happens, she investigates or gets involved unknowingly and in the end the event may be resolved or not, up to chance. Each episode usually has pretty strong philosophical or existential themes and messages and maybe some kind of commentary on human nature or logic relating to the story of the day. Of course with that said the show is inherently episodic in nature which is fine by me. The world itself is kind of like a strange alternate relaity weird world, like every town she goes to could be totally different, for instance, one day it’s a western town, the next a high tech city that travels in space or some shit. I dunno but that’s how it is. The quality of the show is higher than average with good animation and character designs at least in comparison to the old anime series, pacing is good and premise spot on, it’s similar to Mushishi, but seriously not as good since Mushishi is the Best Show Ever Created. In any regard going to be watching this for nostalgia and quality.
Dies Irae – Perhaps it’s too early for me to call this one, having only just watched the episode 00 and all but i’m seriously not feeling this show. From what I read it’s supposed to be based on some very well known acclaimed visual novel from like many years back but with that said I’m confused what’s going on. So I see some shit taking place, some nazi is riding some golden scull platform airship in modern times and he is greeted by some other wizard looking dude, they say some shit and then we go into flashback mode to nazi Germany at the start of WWII. We see some shit and crazy powers among the golden guy and some other nazi characters that are girls with powers fighting some crazy people or something, not sure what’s going on. Either way it’s obviously apparent that the golden nazi guy is the true aryan race and obviously has superior physical and magical powers, owns some shit. The end, fast forward to the present back to the floating gold scull ship and wizard and a few words are exchanged. Wut. Yea I have no idea. The design of the guy is pretty good I suppose which I can only assume is the villain and his crew of bad nazi girls? Maybe? Either way the girls look like shit, kinda outdated even so I can’t tell if they are real main characters or just bad side shit. The quality itself is decent but not really my thing, too much aryan race and serious.
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou – This is a fantastic show about 2 girls in a post apocalyptic war world traveling around in a armored motorcycle wagon thing that has treads and them just doing stuff and exploring. The tone of this show reminds me a lot of Made in Abyss except the thing that they are exploring is the ruined world, filled with old tanks, warplanes, weapons, fortress and other war stuff like bombs, rations, ammo and shit. Very artsy, very round, mild comedy, kinda moe, some serious drama shit occasionally, shits good man. Even though the translation of this show is “Girls’ Last Tour” i’m gonna call it Winter Tanks because I can. I think what makes this show very appealing is the setting and the character designs, in a ruined world filled with detail and dark color palettes you have two round looking simplistic squishy looking girls just doing casual stuff like surviving and journeying. The contrast is the point here. Excellent sound ambience, pacing and style, great concept, interesting character designs. Will watch more for sure.
Code Realize – Sousei no Himegimi – Through and through this is a women’s show meaning that it is filled with beautiful bishonen boys which should be a given but this one has a main girl character that has a horrible disease/flaw in her that makes her a “monster” by the world’s standards. Taking place in late 1800’s the style is very victorian steam punkish with dresses and frilly clothes and suits top hats. So it’s like this, main girl is a “monster” because of some illness which makes her skin poisonous to other organic things to the touch, this was done by her father which was some kind of scientist or whatever who is now gone. Some bad guys like the government want to kidnap her and do research on her for weapons or whatever thing. For some reason a band of usual archtypical bro gay crew comes and saves her and takes her in. Cool guy, emo guy, glasses guy, they are all here. In any regard if this is one thing that must be said about this show is the girl’s character design and clothing choices, it is outstandingly good dress design, very cool yet sexy and humble but still very lady like at the same time. The perfect dress for a main girl. Of course. The lines on this show are super crisp and the animation is spot on fluid with no mistakes that I can see of, colors are well done too. If I was a woman I would watch this shit hard, but I’m not so probably not. Good for those who want it though.
Dynamic Chord – Quite possibly the worst show this season by any standard. Oh my God what the fuck is wrong with this show. Before I get into how shit this is, let me just quickly note that yes, this is indeed a male Idol anime show based off a mobile game. Ok, sure, but with that comes certain standards, like you know, actually a story? This is not a mini show, this is a full 24 minutes long. FUCK. First problem begins within the first minute of the show where all the guys are talking in a building, they see some guy in a car, it’s raining, it’s a convertible but guy in car doesn’t give a shit. It is assumed that the guys in the building are one of the bands and the car guy is in the band. After some stupid shit they get ready to practice. What ensues is a 5 minute slideshow of barely passable flash level animation; there are like 4 guys in the band, each guy gets ONLY 1 IMAGE and that image is cycled for 5 MINUTES in rotation to varying degrees of zooms and different angles. You can’t fool me motherfuckers, you only have 4 images and you literally show that for 5 minutes on the backdrop to some song. This happens no less that THREE more times throughout the course of the show with each time getting worse and worse. All practice time is done, some shit happens and some dumbass realizes that the guy in the car was their band member and that he is going to leave the band because a magazine interview said he would on the cover. End episode. Duh Duh dduhhhhhhhhhhhhh. FUCK. They never once even bothered to introduce any of the characters or even put up a name label beside their face the first time they said something, I have no idea who these fuckers are. Would anyone know who doesn’t play the game? Worse shit this season by any standard, there’s so much Idol shit, especially for women that I would be ashamed of myself I i played the game. Shit.
Garo – Vanishing Line – Oh look, it’s another garo anime. How many times has it been now? I have no idea but it must be at least 3 or 4 by now. Shit. I question why this franchise is even a thing since the original material is live action. So anyways, we have some buff ass guy on motorcycle who is pretty hooligan looking, this is our main hero guy that transforms wear the garo gold armor. So some standard roughhousing happens on the street and guy makes sure his dominance is shown. After the battle they focus on some youth girl and she’s playing with her mobile phone, looking at some fortune teller website or chat hotline. Does the usual girl things and wants to meet up with the fortune services person to tell her about her future. Some other shit happen and the girl ends up going to the future teller. The fortune teller is obviously suspicious looking and creepy, kinda pervert but whatever, he says some shit like I wanna eat you and transforms/morphs into some monster thing and attacks the girl. The girl runs and gets away and when she is cornered the motorcycle guy comes and fights off the monster, killing it and transforming into garo the golden knight armor thing. The End. Interesting, the show itself is highly stylized and the animation at least for the first episode is above average. It takes place is AMERICA cause fuck yea, why not with obvious visible black, white and Mexican looking characters around. The girl is not cute, the guy is alright cool, but it’s not enough. Some may like but nope not for me.
Love Live! Sunshine!! S2 – Alright then it’s the second season of sequel idol anime love live sunshine and the show literally picks up right up after the first season, which is fine but I kinda like it better if they fast forward a bit or even clear the slate a bit and not get caught up in the last season’s leftover drama. So yea, chika and friends all start off happy and cheerful idolizing it up with optimism when blonde girl who has connections with the school principlal is all like, I have bad news, ever after all our hard work and shit, they are still going to close our school down. Disbelief amount all the cute girls and sadness ensues. Chika is ruined, as usual but after a night of reflecting and walking around town and about, decides she doesn’t give a shit and wants to do the idol stuff anyways and win love live despite the fact that they can’t save their school, they happy again and the show continues onto the next episode of moe. Yea, this is good slice of life idol anime moeblob and I’ll say it again, that all the girls in this crew are way better than the original love live. Good designs, good animation, nice songs, good cute girls, good show. Watch for sure.
Mahoutsukai no Yome – An interesting show about some lonely red haired girl who is being sold into slavery for whatever use is brought up by a high roller buyer at the auction. Clad in white prison like clothes and chains she goes with her new buyer, but the buyer is not your ordinary man, he appears to have some cow skull head mask on his head and is all wizard like, well you guessed it, dude is a wizard and brought the girl to be his next apprentice and eventually train her to become his wife in due time. I am not entirely sure if the dude’s head really is a cow skull but at this point let’s just say it is, so dude s basically lord momonga from Overlord. Well anyways, after skull man explains her situation and takes her to his house, which is in england in some empty meadow forest she is greeted by a cast of other characters and little faries things which later on try to seduce her into going into the fairy world. Of course Momonga II comes around and stops it/saves her and they go home. The skull guy’s voice is pretty good and the girl is pretty plain and shit so in general this means it is a show catered towards women, which is fine. The animation is good and the lines are crisp without error. The setting is supposed to be modern but because she goes to some fantasy world, it’s kind of irrelevant, still magical, like harry potter. I dunno, show is ok, might watch maybe not, depending on what else is going on this season, not bad, for women.
