Anime Review Spring Season

Spring Anime 2018 Part I

Here we go again, let’s start the Spring Anime 2018 season! Gonna try to reduce my writing length since it’s taking too long but man it’s hard, even though I say that I’ll probably end up the same anyways. Ahwell. No particular format or writing styles, just letting it all steam out from the mind. There should be some good shit this season, let’s see what we got:

Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu – A really jokes mini show about space battleship tiramisu, pretty much a gundam/all mecha show parody where the main dude doesn’t give a shit and feels at ease at the cockpit of his mech battling in space and does everything which you normally shouldn’t do in there. Like dude is all like man, I wanna eat fried shrimp in the cockpit and fucks up and has bits of crumbs flying around everywhere all the while she is sorting and in the middle of battle killing shit.lololol. A slice of life gundam like show comedy. Good shit. Animation is pretty good for what is is and the mech has good design. Watch for sure.

Uma Musume – Pretty Derby – Oh boy one of the top moe slice of life sports idol anime which proves once again that japan can make anything into moe cute girls. This time we got cute race horse girls, no no no, i’m not talking about the centaur shit of last year, no, this time we are bipedal and not furry in any way, so just limited to crazy hair, ears and tails. Ok then, with that in mind, this shit is excellent. Everything about this show is great, the concept while done before does it very tastefully and still retains it’s moe appeal. Probably one of the most joke things about this show is that all the girls have horse racing names. The main girl’s name is “Special Week” holy shit, let that sink in, “Special Week” and that’s in English, not Japanese. The basic premise of this show essentially combines moe cute girls, sports competition via horse girls “running”, school show cause all the horse girls gotta train to become the best you know and also even idol show element because whoever places top 3 in a race has to dress up in idol clothes and sing and dance for the audience who watched the race/betted on them. lololol. This show is great, good animation, concept, pacing, just fun shit all round. Watch for sure.

Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi – A show for women about a women who through various circumstances is placed into a situation where she is forced to get married with an mysterious but beautiful man which has a secret or power and her reluctance to accept it because of the terms of their engagement but no doubt through the course of the story will come to fall in love with the man she originally opposed out of unfamiliarity. Yea, it’s one of those shows. With the basic premise out of the way, the setting this time is a magical alternate world where youkai and oni live. The main girl used to live in the normal japan world but got taken in by a oni king because her grandpa owed him some debts or something, basically selling her for marriage. Grandpa died long ago and our main girl is a college student now and so our oni king comes to collect on grandpa’s arrangement. The usual happens, bunch of characters are introduced, main girl opposes the marriage, wants to work at the hotel that he manages or whatever to pay back gramps debt instead, meets some white haired ninetail boy, other beautiful creatures and the like. The End. Yea, not for me but you get the idea. Decent for women but there are probably better shit still. The main oni guy isn’t that good.

Souten no Ken Re-Genesis – Holy fuck wow, I didn’t think that this shit was continuing. It’s the sequel to the prequel of Fist of the North Star, Fist of the Blue Sky: Re-Genesis. Oh Shit, I get to learn more all about Kenshiro’s dad’s uncle or something, all about Kasumi Kenshiro. I actually watched the first Fist of the Blue Sky anime, shit was pretty old, like in 2007 I think? It’s been over 10 years I guess and it’s still going. I honestly thought that this was a remake of the original but after watching the first few minutes I realized that it’s a continuation.  Alright then, with that in mind, this show is a full 3dCG show and with said, has some serious frame rate animation issues, they are very clunky and ridged in movement which is kinda bad man, and I haven’t even gotten into talking about the 3d models themselves yet. The models in this show…are let’s just say, extremely extremely bulky and swole, they are literally huge bulky muscular men in tight ass shirts and clothes which look 2 sizes too small on them. It’s bad, they probably only look normal when they go into battle and have their chests bare. As for the story, from what I can tell, it’s kinda a loose rehash of the original fist of the north star except is pre-WWII times, we have a Rei like character that uses nanto techniques and is voiced by Dio Brando again, just like he did in the dynasty warriors type games. Despite it’s technical problems and being 3D, i’m gonna watch shit shit, for better or worse. Extremely gangster opening sequence song, fuck yea. lol.

Gegege no Kitarou (2018) – Gegege no Kitarou is something of an iconic manga/anime that dates back to the 60’s and has had several animes made throughout it’s long history, the most recent one being this 2018 rendition. I’ll be honest here, I remember watching an episode of the 2008 Kitarou anime and thought it was shit so that was the end of that. The basic premise of this franchise is that Kitarou is a ghost boy or something that solves problems involving ghosts, oni, monsters and youkai and the such, typical traditional Japanese monster fare. Kitarou has some powers and shit and a collection of otherworldly friends to help him fight and solve crimes/mysterious in the human world. This time however, things are a bit different. For one is that the anime production is pretty high quality and the tone is modern, focusing on many of the woes of our digital age and modern Japanese culture in general. The main human protagonist is a girl, with really cute and unique hair, I have never seen hair like this designed before, at least not this detailed, so that is really a huge plus for me. Aside from this cute girl, there are more cute girls, like Neko-Musume which has over the course of the years has morphed from this to this ahhhhhhh anime, gotta update designs to appeal to the times right? Pretty moe now huh. They know whats up. So yea, I’ll probably do my best to watch this shit for the sake of history.

Tachibanakan To Lie Angle – Some mini show about a girl moving from the country to the city to live with a cast of other beautiful girls although she herself isn’t that beautiful or has big boobs or whatever. Mild comedy and moe antics of friendship and such with gay yuri undertones. Shit is only like 3 minutes so it’s not really much. Probably not watch, probably because it’s not worth my time downloading this one at all. Decent everything but completely forgettable. Nothing notable.

Gundam Build Divers – Oh boy let’s do this shit, another gundam build fighter spin off series! I watched the episode 0 and 1 for this show so far and overall it’s alright. It takes place in another world separate from that of the 2 previous gundam build fighter anime series so don’t expect any of the old characters to appear in this show anytime soon, which is a shame really as I really liked the two other shows. They still use gunpla models to battle in a digital field of sorts but this time it’s getting really meta in the sense that all the kids and players and shit build gundams, go to some place where they sit down and go into a vr game world with an avatar of themselves or whatever to their choosing and from there they get access to the gundam they built in scale where they can pilot it and shit. Think a bit like the matrix or even ready player one or even one of many many other real life >game world animes and manga that already exist like SAO, overlord, konosuba etc. The main character’s gundam of choice this time is Gundam 00 so yea, that’ ok. The previous shows the main guy had Strike and then in the sequel had Burning Gundam. Of course there is lots of real product placement for gunpla and shit. It’s still to early to call on this show and I am cautiously optimistic since I liked the previous shows but so far the main kid is kinda forgettable and shit. Gundam battles are non-3d or at least appear non-3d so that’s good shit. Watch more for sure.

3D Kanojo Real Girl – So we have a boy with blue hair and glasses. He is a loner otaku guy with one friend who is also a otaku nerd. He is jaded and has accepted that he will be forever alone and that no one likes him in school. Through a variety of circumstances he is late for school along with another girl, who is the popular beautiful normal girl and they are assigned to clean the pool after school as punishment. They get to know each other and the girl kinda teases him, the boy reluctantly to express any emotion or feelings for the girl even though he acknowledges she is beautiful. More shit happens and the popular girl gets into an argument with some of the boys she is currently dating/was dating and is put into a tough situation and our blue main boy saves the day or something, she appreciates him saving her. The next day she goes up to him in class and asks him to go out with her. Of course our boy cannot accept this as he feels that she is just playing with him and teasing him, gets triggered and angry, leaves. Some more shit and reflection happens and our boy is like fuck it, I may never get this chance again so goes back to the girl and asks her out. She accepts and they hug but then tells him that she is going to transfer schools in half a year anyways. Fuck. Why bitch, what are you planning to do? So yea, I guess you can call this a romance comedy drama, a romance show for hos? Not really sure who is this for, women, girls, I have no idea where this stands. Either way the girl isn’t even that good, the dude isn’t that good either. Not for me. Shit.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes – Die Neue These – Do you know what happens if you imagine WWII as a space opera? No? You get this shit, Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Having wrapped up over 30 years ago in novel form, this franchise still manages to produce anime and other spin off material from time to time. From my understanding, this is a remake of the original novels updated with nice beautiful bishonon males and shiny special effects for space battles. Having no prior knowledge of this franchise or it’s story it’s alot to take in and understand the world or rather, universe where this shit takes place. So we got something like 3 space empires, each with their own shit and mild theme. One is pretty much Germany, the other are a combined Allied forces consisting of like English/Greek/French/Chinese in origins and there is a third empire that they didn’t give much info about yet. The German space empire is fighting the Freedom Allied forces and such. There is a lot of talking and politics going on and because of our times, some mild gay between the kings and their men. Near the end they engage in space battle and the battle effects and graphics are pretty dupe as fuck. Lots of lasers beams and shit going on at all times. Pretty nice. Not sure if i’m going to watch more of this but we’ll see.

Alice or Alice – Stupid ass mini-show about twins and cute moe girls? I have no idea, all I remember was some cute cat like girls doing cute things with their big brother overseeing them and such. There names aren’t even alice. Probably not watch but whatever.

More to come…
