AX 2018 – Day 2

So let’s go, Day 2 of Anime Expo lets go! Once again, I didn’t take much cosplay photos, just no time and I have my priorities man. Managed to take this pretty good 2B from Nier Automata however before going outside and dying in the heat like a fool trying to get autograph information. Fuck. There’s a concert today so all activities will have to have that taken into consideration.

After a long and tiring first day, we awake to begin anew once more. I suppose you can say that this was my station for charging and shit in our hotel room.

Pretty early this time around, none of this waiting for the shuttle bullshit.

And so line begins to get in, I am by myself, once the privileged Premiere fans get their own separate line to get in.

Hello anime banner, hello Uzuki Shimamura, I’ll try my best today too.

These checkpoints man, shit. Today is friday, probably the hottest day on the convention.

Inside waiting for the rush. Seems pretty chill so far, after day 1. Master roshii and Buu chilling.

Look at these fag kids, it’s one thing to hog so much prime standing space but it’s another thing to be playing FUCKING NORMAL CARDS. You should be playing yugioh, pokemon or some weiss Schwarz shit, not this pleb commoner games. Fucking kids.

Excellent tattoo, even if it’s just temporary, I can feel it’s shakes from here.

So ya I got in and see that that doki doki guy and crew are here. Nice cardboard there.

So this time I was able to snag a ticket to line up. Yes, just like the ideafactory booth yesterday I was able to obtain a ticket and time to line up to buy goods at the good smile company booth. Serious business man.

Mini story time here. Once again I decided to go check out the arc system works booth to see if they had any new merch come in and noticed that this guy just walked up and say like hey whats up in Japanese to the booth attendant.  The dude is Toshimichi Mori, the creator/producer of blazblue, the dude that I wanted to get an autograph with. Wow. I only know this because I’ve seen his pictures before but to any normal casual observer he’s just some random, you would never know who he is. I was like, wow, gave him a thumbs ups, he acknowledged my gesture after realizing that I had noticed him, smiled then a return thumbs up then walked off with his translator to go elsewhere.

I decided to stalker him a bit as it can be see here. There’s also a video version but yea, not really worth showing here. He went upstairs or something and yea, that was that.

SNK/NIS were promoting their new SNK Heroines game with this Athena cosplayer an from what I think is an assasin creed cosplay dude? Not sure, not bad.

After the first day some booths really died down in lines, the NIS America store had like almost none. I would have brought something from them but nothing really that caught my interest.

Went inside fairly inconspicuous booth by Manga Gamer to check out some nice 18+ goods and shit. Nice pillows, super expensive tho.

Nice ero games and visual novels for sale.

I had a nice chat with the dude selling and he told me that the arrangement of games was laid out from right to left in levels of seriousness or tone. Like the ones on the far right were supposed to be funny and light hearted or “normal” whereas the further right you got the more extreme the content was. Found it pretty funny. He did so too.

So yea, it was my designated time to buy shit at goodsmile company and so I am here, waiting to buy stuff.

Nice Oppai shirt. It makes me wonder how much stuff stock was had in the back behind the curtains. Cause they had a lot of different shit to sell. Some of the more popular goods ran out on the first day but the guy said that they are always restocking each day to be fair for guests who only come on one day so they have a chance. Makes sense.

Loot and stuff obtained. They gave a really nice bag too.

The place where Daniel apparently spent an enormous amount of his time to buy shit. Aniplex booth was like literally the first booth when you get in the main hall but also attracts the largest crowds. This is a excellent formula for bottleneck crowding at a single spot.

Mother fucker crunchy rolls.

Having spent the majority of my day yesterday on the main exhibit hall, I decided to venture down to the artist alley in the morning after initial rounds.

Main chill eating place in the artist alley. Not big at all but it’s better than nothing. I had went down here to check on where to get autographs, I wanted to get Toshimichi Mori’s autograph; I had brought a Blazblue cross tag poster for this purpose. I went to the area where I had to get autographs and they told me I had to go get a ticket in order to line up for the autograph of my choice. So I ask, how do I get a ticket? Well, those motherfuckers said sorry bro, you need to go OUTSIDE to get the autograph session ticket, which was right beside the main line up to GET IN. FUCK. Lest to say I was not very pleased at this bullshit but I decided to give it try anyways. There was supposed to be a signing today but I had already missed it, but I wanted to see if I could get it in advance for the session tomorrow. Worth a try I suppose.

On my way out now, seeing this blue monster. I take whatever photo I can get, I don’t give a shit if I don’t know who the other girl is.

Oh hay it’s that love live banner I mentioned on the first day, looks like I’m heading the right way OUT of the place.

I managed to ask this pretty good A2 cosplay from Nier Automata, at least, that’s what I thought she was supposed to be, maybe i’m wrong. Whatever. Bit blurry but whatever. Her friend was a character from hero academia. Now that I see this, I feel a bit bad, should have asked her friend to be in the photo too.

Doki doki cosplay with nice cake too. Not bad, even tho I have no idea.

Guy on the left has his eye on me. Why u do this.

Pretty good 2B cosplay from Nier Automata. Great job with the black box. Missing sword however.

Holy shit, it was hot outside. I think it was like over 40 degrees or very close to it. Why did I do this?

Motherfuckers. The place where you get autograph tickets blends into the same line where you go inside the main hall. FUCK. Lest to say that when I went to the guys they said sorry, all the tickets were gone and that I had to come back tomorrow for that day’s session. Fuck. Ah well.

Heading back inside, making my way to main hall again and see this thing. Pretty cool, even though I have no idea.

Blue Rei, blue Goku? Same.

The place where Mark camped for official love live glowsticks and shit. They had lots of stuff coming in still.

The line to get in was like nothing, only maybe 5-6 people, very short.

Official Aqours shirt, signed by all the girls, nice.

All of these shirt sizes were sold out with the exception of XXL sizes.

Fortunately they still had the event concert shirts which I think look pretty good to me.

Prinny thing. Thought there was someone inside. There wasn’t.

Apparently the artist/people who did that famous ME! ME! ME! animu EDM music video were here for signing and panel. I would go but my interest was not nearly strong enough to compel me to spend time there.

So, after buying shadowverse merch yesterday I decided to go back to cygames to finish that stamp rally thing. One of the tasks was to play a game of shadowverse when some random guy.

This was my opponent. I talked to this guy as I lined up and shit, nice guy but a little weird. Said he played Magic for years and shit and yugioh too I think. For some reason even though it was just for fun and we had to use prebuilt decks that they had setup, it was kinda like a serious match. Lol. At the end of the day it was a forest mirror match and the guy beat me in endgame. Guy said to me, “I don’t know why I tried to play seriously, why am I going so try hard for this? It doesn’t even matter.” Yea, you could have just gave up to my rushes and we could have both been done earlier by like 10 minutes man. lol shit.

One of the stupid tasks involved looking around the castle for special rocks or some shit and tracing/capturing it on paper. Yea, so dumb but I did it.

Hm, most of the immediate shadowverse pin sets were sold out by day 2, except Blood remained. Strange. Maybe cause it’ shit tier in meta now. Man, I like blood craft.

Aryan race supreme, I mean Saiyan race supreme. Yea whatever, might as well be the same for Brolly.

So these booth were holding fighting game tournament for blazblue, under night in birth and guilty gear xrd rev2. I think that’s squall watching.

This baiken was watching too. Fuck man, why is it that I can’t get good photos when I want to. After this, she promptly walked away.

I think these guys were laughing at blazblue Hazama mirror match. So gay. That guy with the blue lanyard, so jokes face. Neoclassical hipster title: “Laughter at the snake carnival”.

DBZ fighting game was also nearby too. Didn’t notice it now but I like that guys shirt. It’s probably Haruna from boats or another shrine maiden character hugging him. lol jokes.

Esport players I believe? Not entirely sure but I think CounterLogic? Not really familiar but whatever. Nice LL hat background head.

Game company’s want to show their shit.

They announced that arc system works would be making a Kill La Kill game but it wouldn’t be a real fighting game, but a 3d beat-em up, maybe in the lines of action games or dynasty warriors.

The things that I wanted to buy are all sold out as indicated by the sold out sticker. Ah well. Black guy shows off his pen lights. Nice bro.

So, right now I am in line for my autograph session with Tsunako and Mizuho at the idea factory booth. It’s really weird, some companies do their own thing and organize their own events like autograph signings and whatever, while others go through the con and their organizers instead. Like, otherwise this should technically be in the basement with the artist alley stuff. Nice shirt from the guy in the front, Nagato boat t shirt represent yo.

While I was standing in line, people were comparing and talking to each other about what merch and shit you were going to have signed. This mother fucker right behind me on the other hand totally didn’t give a shit, kept on complaining saying he just wanted to meet this dude, sign shit and be done with it with a super bitter irritated tone. I was a bit annoyed but curious about why he was so pissed at what is supposed to be a cool thing to be waiting for, since he obviously didn’t know that Tsunako and Mizuho were both women, noting his complaints of “where is this dude, hurry up”. Apparently dude is a local, been going to AX for like 10 years and was only here on behalf of some of his friends who dumped this task onto him, “they forced it on me, pointed a gun to my head, I had to do it” I said you must be a really good friend for doing this for them, “pssshh, no, not really” then for some reason started ranting about how this convention would not be possible if it wasn’t for capitalism and people with money buying useless stuff “yea, fuck poor people. Fuck em” he says. Yeaaaaa, after that I didn’t want to talk to this guy anymore, so I kinda just looked away and ignored him, same for the other people around him too. Yea, not the most pleasant experience but certainly a story to tell of a bitter asshole in some cosplay that I have no idea is supposed to be.

Lined snaked around a bit and saw more of our target demographic.

The line up for autograph is right in front of the place to buy shit at ideafactory. Nice demographic people, see, there are girls here.

Guy bending down actually brought one of the expensive art panels that I wanted, got that signed by Tsunako and Mizhuno. Good on him man.

The one that I wanted, but was denied 1 person away. But then again, it’s unrealistic for me to buy something so big, can’t transport that shit. But yea, after I got Tsunako and Mizhuno to sign my stuff I gave them some Neptune buttons that my sister made to each of them. Said I was from Canada and that I was looking forward to the new game that was being developed in Quebec, my sister made these buttons so yea, I hope you continue making Neptune games. Message got through via translator and they appeared to be amused with the small token gifts; both said “oh, so cute” “Kawaii-nee” several times. Yea, I did good. They said they were going to go to Canada later in the summer to check up on the progress of the game in Quebec so that’s cool. Niceeeesu.

After I got my autograph stuff decided to look around at some other vendors/stores. Nice artbooks here.

Hmm, pretty nice Kancolle art boats. thought about it but no, resisted.

Fuck. Why didn’t I think about doing this? I noticed some people were carrying art books at the signing and I regretted not buying/bringing in my own stuff to sign. Shit ah well. Maybe another time.

Excellent art, shit game. I like how the main fame to this game is that fact that the artist is Mel Kishida, the handsome illustrator known primarily for doing the Alteier Rorona Trilogy of games. Which is kinda funny, because even the post it note says the same thing, except that’s not necessarily correct, he only did the art for 3 games, the Rorona Trilogy but everything else after that was someone else. Sad. Honestly if he was still the artist for the series I would be probably still playing them as well.

Chirp chirp. Didn’t’ know the twitter bird was orange.

Some unknown chink company not called Wacom trying to sell their digital drawing tablets and stuff. Many artists try there hand here. The women drawing now….it’s shit that’s not for me.

People still play this game? Mabinogi is still alive I suppose to be having a booth that has literally nothing in it, just a few screens on it.

Gays.

Nice box stuff.

Mutsu figure, it’s ok, it’s like high end trading figure quality.

Don’t quite get why I shouldn’t be able to pick up. Trading figures.

Eighty Sixed, they have pretty night fighting game shirts. I have some, nice designs.

Not entirely sure what OTP stands for, maybe Only Trans People? Yea I am ignorant.

Gay stuff for women and men. Caesar x Joseph? Noooooo.

Stuff for sister. You from LL and Seto Kaiba with Blue Eyes Aryan dragon.

This particular store/booth had a ton of keychains and similar like goods. All the shit is real but very expensive.

Mix of stuff, some FGO on the right and persona 5 key chains.

More professional artist that is probably too good for artist alley setup show here. Very nice shiny foil prints.

The dude himself was sitting right there and had some artbooks of his stuff too I think. I never saw his work before nor know what it is supposed to be, maybe original works and character design? Who knows, it was pretty good.

FGO keychains, this shit is not cheap, $20 for keychain of this type is about standard.

Yuru Camp’s Rin. Was thinking about it then the guy said it was like $20. Sorry, no.

I was told to get any guilty gear merch that is official for sister. This place had a whole bunch and I spent a good 10 minutes here looking through them all after the women noticed that I was looking for guilty gear stuff, she brought all the stock they had in front of me. Lots of money was spent here on very expensive pieces of plastic.

This is the store where I brought those guilty gear key chains. That guy with the hat is looking awfully suspicious.

Absolute sword units.

Indie game for the switch. Not really interested, took some of their free buttons however.

Detsu Boys. Nice jacket, no idea but nice jacket

You can vote your favorite husbando from this mobile game hereeee.

Looking above the main hall, checking out the peasants.

Our boi, Vegeta, doing pretty much the same. I did not ask him for a photo or pose, he was standing like this naturally.

Another angle.

Stairs of doom. These were tightly controlled for traffic flow every day to prevent deaths in opening rushes.

Fast forward a bit and I made my way down to the artist alley again, like the first real day I only got to spend like half an hour here before closing time. Nice familiar artist that is like at every con.

Pretty cool power rangers prints. The AC was broken today in the basement so it was super hot and sticky. Fuck. The women in front also certainly isn’t pleased with this temperature.

Familiar good artist. At this point I am not sure if they are from Canada, live in LA or are like gypsy jews that roam around the world following the cons.

Another familiar artists. I brought those konosuba prints a few years ago I think. Canada? I don’t even know anymore.

Here is the inside of the mini art book that I got for free from the idea factory woman to get signed by Tsunako and Mizuno. Left is Tsunako, pretty cute since her avatar online when she depicts herself is always kinda a panda.

The other thing I got signed….was the free card that everyone gets when you make a purchase at the store….well, it could be worse. Should have brought an art-book or metal collectors lunch box that I had to get signed. Ah well.

Line up to go to the Studio Trigger panel. Holy shit it was hot.

Inside the place, met up with Dan. Pretty huge space I think the biggest panel stage area in the con. Packed. We unfortunately had to leave early like only 45 minutes in since it overlapped with our concert of the day, Japan Super live I believe with a lot of classy composers and musicians.

Cutting down on the lineup, the Microsoft theater is filling in nicely.

Ready to roll, it may not be the same event but most people attending went to the love live concert as well. This is the hero glow stick that is so sought after.

Immediately after the concert. Really classy well done show. Very different than love live, not very hype at all but the music was good, very classical and orchestrated epic/ballad type of stuff, lots of fate music. Don’t really think glow sticks were necessary for this kind of concert but whatever fuck it, we got it so everyone uses it. Yea boi.

More exiting people. In general I didn’t record anything for this show, not even photos out of respect for the artists and all that stuff.

Toyota is pleased, so is Kamina.

Dinner again at the Yardhouse. We waited for a good 45 minutes to an hour before getting seats. We waited outside the place and it was the first time in my life that I had experienced a breeze that was hot air that made you even hotter. Holy shit, what the fuck. Even after the sun went down the ground acted like an oven and the heat continued. Once inside I order appetizers, and yea, it was just too much for the three of us. I made a mistake and we coudn’t finish it. Ah-well, wanted to try out these items.

Another beer, can’t remember which one. A hipster craft one I think.

I ordered something called vampire tacos. My first not really Mexican food of the trip. Lol. Mainly meats and flour shell with grilled on melted cheese, pretty tasty with a side of rice and beans.

Dan’s steak.

Mark’s southern fried chicken and gravy.

End of the day loot accumulation again. Not even organized unlike yesterday but yea you get the idea. Boxes of miku nenderoids, shirts and other shit. Lots of nice free paper and fans.

Another shot of my main quest reward for the day, getting the autographs from Tsunako and Mizuho at Ideafactory. Success.

Day two in general was another very busy day with lots of stuff buying and collecting again. All of the things that I wanted to do on the first day I managed to do, such as buy stuff at goodsmile and finish that damn shadowverse stamp quest. I still didn’t manage to get a look at the artist alley in depth so the next day I said to myself that I would dedicate my day primarily to that. Once again, I had asian buns for breakfast and asian buns for lunch snack. Shit, certainly neglecting my meals. I had considered going outside to one of the many food trucks nearby but damn, today was just too hot. Fucking hovering around 40 degrees, insane. Added to the fact that I was carrying even MORE shit than I was yesterday because of my visit to good-smile company, damn bulky boxes. Tomorrow would be the last full day of the con and the last concert, so I have still much to do and see.

More to commeee..
