Anime Review Spring Season

Spring Anime 2021 Overview

In the Spring of 2021, the world was still at war, a war with an unseen invisible enemy that continues to threaten our normal way of life, and with it, it has officially been more than a year since the Covid19 pandemic. While things are getting better and vaccines are being rolled out on mass across the world, we are all still at home; isolated from the ruin that awaits us in the form of new variants; variants that put India in a public health crisis and Japan; still trying to keep the virus under control, just months away from conducting the 2020 Olympics Redo attempt which will happen regardless, even without any spectators globally in person. With that said, Yea Anime has been alright, pretty good in fact. Yep. While the world slowly moves in the right direction towards relative “normalcy” anime has been consistently putting up good shit to keep everyone occupied and entertained to keep everyone reminded what life was like before covid. Lots of good shows, and quite a lot in fact, over 38 new shows not even counting sequels; Japan certainly has gotten good and producing anime in pandemic times. This season has something for most but a clear lack of mecha (as always) and true slice of life comedy which unfortunately tends to be a more summer or winter thing I guess.

Hetalia World Stars – Wow, after so many years, I think no shit, maybe 8-10 years of basically nothing from this gay women bait franchise, they decided to make a new mini show. Wow. I am surprised that there may even be interest in this at all in today’s world but I suppose longtime fans would welcome it. I suppose you can make the same comparison to Strike Witches, which is also very old but yea, WWII anthropomorphization is still hot shit even today.

Joran The Princess of Snow and Blood – Some baity ass show that tries too hard to be edgy that takes place in an alternate world Japan around 1930’s involving a bunch of spies or something trying to do spy things for Japan and the main girl has powers to turn into some snow yukihime that looks a bit like black rock shooter with glowing blue streak eye with a katana. Yea, I’m sure that this has some conspiracy plot and supernatural twists and battle but it’s not every interesting to me in the slightly. Ugly character designs, slow boring pacing, monotone tone and a done before setting that is just tiresome. Next.

Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui – A show about a relatively normal and average Japanese high school girl that for some reason gets the attention of one of her friend’s older brother that just so happens is a fancy businessman that is blonde playboy life of the party kind of guy. The entire premise of the show I guess is that the cool blonde playboy falling for the seemingly average highschool girl which is not special in any sense except that because of his weird behavior and “tryhardness” of seeking the main girls attention and approval/affection, finds him “creepy” and “gross” despite him physically being a beautiful bishon man which I suppose is part the comedic aspect of this show. While not bad, it’s missing something that sets it apart from other shows and in the end basically is a wasted opportunity that could have been truly funny, not just a half-assed attempt at comedy; mediocre only for women I think.

Mars Red – Another show that takes place in an alternate reality Japan in the 1930’s except focuses on a guy in the army that ends up becoming the head of a special unit of the Japanese army that focuses on finding and capturing/killing, which appears to me are vampires in the classical sense of bloodsucking fanged humanoids that die in sunlight. Yea, some shit happens, main guy ends up talking to a new vampire the gov captured in some underground prison, trying to talk to some girl, which the show hints at that the main guy knew before she became a vampire, not sure. More shit happens and talking and the vampire girl breaks out of the prison, owns the prison guards on her way out, goes into the city. Main guy told the news and goes into the city, goes to where he might find the vampire girl, near a theater, cause the vampire girl said she was an actor before she got turned. Some mild talking happens between them in the night, vampire girl basically waits for sunrise and dies/turns to dust with no resistance in front of main guy. Introduce some other vampire little boy in the theater while main guy is inside inspecting it for clues. End ep. Yea, this show has something but it’s not that refined, the quality of the animation is very poor, lots of shadows, still talking shots, character designs very flat, no shading. The concept is somewhat interesting although nothing new that hasn’t been done before. Probably pass, might be worth a second look but probably highly unlikely.

SSSS.Dynazenon – This show is a sequel/ spiritual successor to few years back sleeper hit, SSSS Gridman which in itself was an anime adaption of some giant robot/tokusatsu/ultraman bullshit from the 80-90’s that for some reason was very successful, mainly because the two main girls featured in that previous show were apparently so good and the show had a very interesting pacing, dry kind of artsy deadpan tone which I suppose resonated with today’s youth for some reason. But yea, Gridman was a huge surprise success which was kinda jokes because the project itself was thought to be an experiment/trial run to test the waters of tokusatsu shows converted into anime to try and pave the way to the new ultraman anime, which apparently was very shit cause it was full 3d, serious show and only on netflix. Bad. But yea, Dynazenon is following the same path of Gridman I suppose with style, character designs and general awkward youth/today’s youth feeling of apathy and cringe only to be thrust into joke ass giant robot battles similar to power rangers. Produced by Studio Trigger, they are still trying to find their way after again after the train wreck that was Darling in the Franxx ending but in either case, this kind of show is still very niche and will attract all the former Gridman fans but probably little or no new fans. The new girl in this doesn’t seem to be that great and having not watched Gridman myself, still don’t fully understand what made this show’s predecessor popular either. Not bad, but probably not for me.

Mashiro no Oto – Gay bait women show featuring a boy that wants to play his grandpa’s shamisen even though before he died his grandpa told him he was disappointed in him, disappointed that he even tried to copy his style and that he should invent his own style and sound for playing the traditional instrument. Feeling sad and all that, he left his small town and moved to tokyo to be a hobo homeless fool with a shamisen. The homeless boy ends up getting picked up/saved off the streets by some pretty girl, which apparently is a aspiring a gravature idol and takes him in to live with for a bit. Some shit happens with the girl cause she has a boyfriend and the boyfriend doesn’t like him so they fight of course. The idol girl gets frustrated cause her agent says that she is not making much progress in popularity and suggests maybe she should do porn instead, which she refuses and quits the agency. The idol girl kinda likes the shamisen boy so breaks up with her boyfriend. More shit happens and the shamisen boy ends up having to open for the idol girl’s ex-boyfriend band and does a great job despite being oldschool tunes. More shit happens and the idol girl decides to leave tokyo behind and left her apartment with the shamisen boy and for some reason her former ex-boyfriend. Shamisen boy and ex-boyfriend become bros. Gay. Lol wut. Yea, this is not for me, it’s not bad, but nope.

Shakunetsu Kabaddi – Joke ass anime trying to promote a Indian/Pakistani/Brown people sport known as Kabaddi, which until after this show finished, had no idea even existed and thought was a made up sport along the same lines as Kejo, butt bumping in that anime. Somewhere between the lines of wrestling, rugby and tag the main goal of Kabaddi is a 1 vs 1 or 3 vs 1 sport or any combination of the sort where the objective is to pull/drag the opponent over some line or half of the play field/area and gain points by doing so or evading capture by the other team. It’s kind of gay looking but then again, what sport isn’t kinda gay? More benefit for women audience I suppose but the thing about this show is that all the dudes are not bishonen pretty boys, but rather, fairly ugly normal or undesirable swole men, so if anything this would largely would appeal to gay manly men similar in the same line that Golden Kamuy does. Aside from the details, the main guy is shit, everyone in the show is shit and nobody except for brown people would even know about this sport to begin with. Why was this made into an anime? I have no idea, I am pretty sure this sport is not in the Olympics so I can only imagine maybe that is has a good sport story and the author truly wants to get this sport more popular? Who know, pass.

Sayonara Watashi no Cramer – A sports soccer show featuring all girls but it’s a waste because all the girls designs are butt ass ugly and probably targeted towards a women/real sports audience. At least it starts out as a soccer show but as it carries on it appears that this is another olymic bait kind of thing where they form a club doing all kinds of sports like running, jumping and whatever. Yea, this is terrible. I don’t think i even finished the full show, just fast forward skip that shit. Next, bad.

Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! – Made by the same author that wrote Konosuba, this adventure space comedy is well, not that immediately apparent that it’s supposed to be a comedy gag anime, and that’s kind of a problem. The basic premise is a bunch of space crew people trying to conquer the earth/universe and try to spread the word of the their organization to other planets and other beings to join in or something. The main guy is kind of annoying being some “combat agent six” or something on behalf of the org and is sent to a new planet to begin the conquering of the native humanoid alien population, he is set up with a angel like android girl i think to assist him which grants him auto translate and understanding of alien language and so forth. Some shit happens and he gets caught up with the local war and the girls/kinds/people in the area. While probably just a snapshot of better things to come, the entire formula is just not funny and kind of cringe overall, which is a far cry from Konosuba, which doesn’t take itself seriously at all, which is not that apparent in this show. The designs of the girls are good but not great and the animation is decent, the story? I have no idea other that the basic outline but yea, maybe this deserves another look depending if people say it’s good, we’ll see but probably not.

Tokyo Revengers – This show can be summed up as a poor mans Erased except with my Hero Academic ugly male character designs and a touch of shonen angst and instead of saving someone from being killed in the past, he wants to save himself from becoming a neet unemployed loser and goes back to his “prime” days, which apparently was in his middle school days, where he was in a gang and was so cool and shit; which I find fucking jokes. lol. His prime? You mean his best days of living is when you were like in grade 7-9? lol oh man. The main timeline taking place in 2017 (I suppose the ruin of 2020 doesn’t provide a good backdrop) the main boy ends up shifting between 2017 and 2005, to his “prime” years and ends up trying to become a better person and all the while kind of roundabout trying to prevent the murder of some family/girl in 2017, which just so happened to be his first girlfriend in 2005. Yea, this is basically my hero academic erased for women. Not shit, but not for me, pass.

Dragon, Ie wo Kau. – The premise of this show is interesting but ultimately fails to grab my attention or time for a variety of reasons. The basic premise of this show is that dragons are supposed to be all swole strong fiercesome beasts and shit right? Well, in this world, there is a little boy kid dragon that is a wuss, and so wussy that after failing to protect his clans eggs, was banished from his home. He cries about this. So now, we have a dragon that is crying all wussy and shit and is essentially homeless. He gets captured by some dwarves, goblins that were going to kill him but he manages to talk himself out of it to release him since he is such a weakling and they pity him. This dragon child cannot even fly, even tho he has wings. He encounters a bunch of new yuushas that attempt to kill him, even tho he pleads to them that he just wants to find a new home, but they still continue, he is rescued by a merlin like OP forest elf that kills all of the human yuushas by burning them and offers the wuss dragon to help him find a home. What. I am not sure if this show is supposed to be funny but I certainly don’t. The dragon wuss is so annoying and his voice so feeble I almost wish that the yuushas killed him to put him out of his misery. Animation whatever, premise annoying, characters annoying. Not for me, maybe just for homeless people.

Bishounen Tanteidan – An interesting show for women featuring a single girl with purple hair that ends up getting dragged into a “pretty boy detective club” at her new school or something. Yea, you kinda see where this is going. Aside from the bullshit detective tropes and ultimately pointless forgettable story/premise of this show, the show is powered by PURE style and animation/character designs, which honestly are top notch as well as the animation. Produced by studio SHAFT, makers of well loved bakemonogatari series/franchise as-well as Madoka, Hidamari Sketch, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei and even March Comes In like a Lion (aka “I killed your dad”) you can tell from their trademark angles, profile shots and how the animation flows that this is definitely one of their works which is great. Unfortunately, I am not gay or a women so I have no interest in whatever this show has to offer, despite being top quality all round. Pretty good, but not for me, next.

86 – Eighty Six – This show has a good name, Eight Six, yep, not talking about Initial D here unfortunately but something else entirely. The show takes place in a fictional world at war where the two empires or countries fight with mechanized drones for some unknown despite that is not yet elaborated yet. The drones look like basically mechanized spider mechs on the ground and are said to be autonomous robots. That’s what the public discourse at the main female character’s country says they are at least. The main girl is a young graduate from the military academy that is chosen to command and control the battle actions and strategy of a drone unit in the war and does so essentially going into a private closed off room with a computer and several monitors, on her first day she is surprised that these “autonomous drones” can speak and talk to her and one another through audio as she monitors their movements and actions and it quickly becomes apparent, that everything she was taught was a lie, these aren’t drones at all, but real people dying and doing battle remotely for the country, faceless disposable soldiers that the empire does not want to recognize or acknowledge as even human beings, sub-human. On the other side of things, the show then shows what it’s like from the perspective of the spider mech soliders, what it’s really like to do war and the human side of things that is hidden/unseen from the privileged rich masses that live in the capital of the empire. The character designs are alright, nothing special but the story is interesting and the animation/money spent on the battle sequences and music/audio is top notch so I think this is worth following. Will watch more, looks good so far.

Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san – Nagatoro to sum it up simply is basically a considerably better version of Uzaki-chan both in terms of the titular character and the general execution, premise, animation quality, comedy and tone of the show overall in comparison to it’s anime predecessor of similar nature. The main boy of this show is a high school second year wussy boy, that is ok, as it serves as a baseline punching bag full of possibilities for Nagatoro, a tanned gal-like first year with a very prominent flesh tooth that makes it her duty to tease and make fun of him on a daily basis, even at their circumstantial first meeting, she could sense his weakness and absolute beta-male vibes from the main boy as he teases him for his manga that he is drawing and other artist weak hobbies, like painting and drawing shit after school. But despite her teasing him with her body and general bullying of the main boy, she deep down actually likes him and admires his honesty in trying to do what he likes even if he is made fun of because of it and at times even tries to defend him when others like her friends go to far. Amazing facial expressions from Nagatoro, mem-able gif quality animation at every turn, SUPREME tier bully teasing exchanges from Nagatoro directed at the boy, god level, drop mic-level shit. Great designs, amazing animation, crisp lines, high range shading and effects, great simple story and characters, excellent voice acting, Nagatoro is turning out to be one of the best shows this season and honestly, probably one of the more memorable shows this year for sure. Watch for sure.

Battle Athletes Daiundoukai ReSTART! – Not sure if sequel cause of the restart in the name but watched a bit anyways, some sport bullshit yugioh crap that somehow makes completing in the Olympics some space level tier event that involves magic and saving the world <—not an exaggeration, this is what this show is ultimately about. It stars some girl and they do some farming shit or whatever and ends up being good at climbing and running so some space aliens find her to compete in the Japan 2020 Olympics in order to save the world and japan or whatever. Didn’t finish so not sure if that’s accurate but it might as well be. Trash.

Vivy – Fluorite Eye’s Song – An interesting show that involves a future where androids and AI are a thing but just like I, Robot, the robots wants rights and shit cause they gain sentience so in the future they are battling humans for equal rights, I suppose a lesser version of terminator future, except with more Taliban type terrorism. So yea, the story takes place not in the future, but something like a hundred years in the past when AI and androids are just first starting out and are made to be basically better robots and entertainment animatronics like in disney world and shit. The main character is Vivy, she is basically an early android robot that is a singing and dancing idol that performs at a theme park like Disney world, still smart and intelligent but I guess not enough to conclude that humans are the enemy and want to fight for rights/independence. So shit happens and a robot stuffed bear android from the future is shifted to the past on a mission to change the future and try to prevent the war, with Vivy being the main catalyst vehicle and actor in which to try and accomplish those goals. So yea, the first episode is kind of deceiving as it’s really more sci-fi/cyberpunk and ghost in the shell/terminator kind of fare than what it makes it out to be. Interesting premise and authored by the same guy that made Re:Zero, it is no wonder that this show is attracting a lot of attention. Not bad, will watch more and see how it is, animation is ok and design ok, nothing special in that field tho.

Shadows House – A cool interesting show about a house/mansion full of noble shadow people that for some reason or another have slaves/servants that look like themselves as if they weren’t just full on black silhouette figures. Hmm. I am not entirely sure what kind of show this is supposed to be as it has elements of slice of life/ comedy but there appears to be a larger story at play here such as who are the shadow people and why do they live in the house, why do they have servants that mirror themselves as if they were normal humans instead of faceless shadow people, are servants created/born? Why? The underlying mystery of the show and story are hidden behind the slice of life chill cute moments of the main girl and her master. No doubt there might be some drama or more paranormal stuff happening in this show and that’s cool it suits it. Nice character designs, very interesting premise and story/mystery backdrop, I’ll probably continue to watch this. Good shit.

Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita – For a show with slime in the title, this is not what you think it is, yes, it is another isekai show but it’s basically jokes comedy. So yea, girl dies, was a women office worker and died cause of overwork and reincarnated in a fantasy world, the god asked her if she wanted any special stats or perks once reborn, she said she wanted to be a mage and live forever, ez, wish granted and off we go. The main girl has a chill ass easy life for the next 300 years living peacefully only killing a handful of slimes around her house for money and goods. As centuries pass later, one day she visits the local job tavern and has a conversation with the adventurer quest girl and her level comes comes, she has never really checked it so she asks the job girl to check, wow wow, looks like she is level 99 max stats to her amazement. So yea, you can imagine the next thing happening with word spreading of a super OP mage living in the area, attracting all kinds of people trying to fight her and prove their worth, from bands of yuushas to dragons and other magical folk. The base show itself is comedy and slice of life gag and it’s pretty apparent which is great unlike some other shows. Decent character designs, ok premise, will try to watch more of this show.

Subarashiki Kono Sekai The Animation – Based off a old DS game cult classic “The World Ends with You” that was apparently made by the same guy that designed FF7 characters and Kingdom Hearts director, Tetsuya Nomura, the mad lad, this anime is basically the same shit as the game, and that’s quite a compliment as the style and animation of the show matches eerily the same to the game, to an almost unsettling degree. No shit, this show looks like it’s 3dCG and some of it may be but the character designs look like straight off a digital illustration, unlike anything i’ve seen before in an anime. Despite it’s stylistic and design strengths, this show is not for me, having no interest or background with the source material. To me it just looks like what Kingdom Hearts would look like if it was an anime without the Disney and Micky Mouse. Pass.

Blue Reflection Ray – A baffling show that I am surprised even exists, this anime is based on a compile heart game of the same name with character designs by Mel Kishida (swordmaster), famed for illustrations and character designs for the Atelier Rorona/Arland trilogy of alchemy daily life games and a few other more obscure anime, this show is simply put, terrible and is for no one. Blue Reflection was an RPG that basically involves school girl magical girls and some teen drama kind of fare with mild yuri-lesbian tendencies and it was generally poorly received, with the only thing driving sales whether they would admit it or not, was it’s character designs by Mel Kishida which are wonderful. With that said, with the mediocre reception of the game, I question why does this even need an anime? Maybe this is actually a sequel story? Lead in promotion to a sequel game maybe? Not sure but either way, this show is horrible, poor tone, bad confusing unknown plot or story that is hardly even discussed, boring slow pacing, poor animation, even character designs, they managed to fuck up Mel Kishida’s designs and can barely be recognizable from the original illustrations, horrible gradient blurred shadows and highlights, ugly transformation sequence/magical girl clothes. Why this show exists is a mystery, but I guess they are trying to force a franchise or something I suppose, similar to what they kinda did with Hyperdimensional Neptune, who knows. Bad.

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S2 Shorts – Oh boy, mini short stories that are about 2 minutes long that takes you back into the popular kyoto animation show Dragon Maid. After the ruin of having their Kyoto office terrorized with arson and multiple people being murdered, I hope they can bring it back to good times once they get the real S2 in production. Watch.

Thunderbolt Fantasy S3 – Motherfuck Whoooaaaaa, didn’t think I would see more of master of the puppets the show! But it’s here, in covid times, puppet kung fu chink drama action bullshit and it’s wonderful. I don’t really need to explain further than that really. I’ve watched the first 2 seasons of this shit, there’s no reason i’m stopping now. Taking place as a continuation of the second season, hopefully shit will make more sense but that’s ok, as long as we got merlin, we can do anything.

Zombieland Saga S2 – After a couple of years and being a surprise sleeper hit a few years ago Zombie-land Saga returns with a S2 and it’s off to a pretty somber start already. Without summarizing the episode lets just say that after the success of the first season, they squandered their popularity and are back to ground zero and nobody’s and are in even worse debt than before and even worse, their hype ass manager has abandoned him, a shadow of his former self, he wallows in self despair and regret for his failure of not making it to the top of the idol business. This episode is about the girls trying to bring him back from despair and such. Quality animation, good story, slice of chill remix noveaou bullshit sing times, good shit. Hopefully this turns out good. Will watch more.

Super Cub – This is the best slice of life chill show this season. What is it about? Well, it’s about a Super Cub. No not a club, Cub motherfucker. What is a “Cub”? Well it’s s HONDA Super Cub, a type of consumer casual motorcycle in japan that is popular with all age groups and I suppose has something of a hobbyist following. So, this is a show about a girl, a boring ass plain girl that walks to school to the bus everyday, lives alone and such, no parents, no family, sad life; might as well kill yourself now maybe; but one day she sees a motor bike on her way to school, decides that it might be a good idea to get one, it’s cheaper and faster than riding the bus to school. So she goes to a motor bike store, has no money, no license, asks shopkeeper, i want bike, shopkeeper says like come back and i give you bike for cheap, she does, license get, asks for cheap bike, shopkeeper sells her 10,000 yen motorcycle, cheap because like 2-3 people died riding it. Oh noe. girl doesn’t give a shit, gonna kill myself anyways sooner or later, buys the Cub. Rides Super Cub, has a blast, feels alive, feels human for the first time in her life, the grey monotone world becomes a bit more saturated with color while she is riding. Things are good. The end. Thus begins the slice of life story and daily life of a high-school Super Cub owner and the friends she makes along the way. Watch this shit for sure Mang. Good shit. Fuck.

Full Dive – This is another pseudo isekai in the sense that the main boy gets transported into a game world but he can log out I suppose anytime he wants. The main premise of this show is that decades in the future MMO Virtual RPGs become all the rage and are super popular and come to the point where the games AI, design and scope becomes so large and realistic that it’s almost indistinguishable from the real world. Sounds good on paper but because these VR games become so realistic, they become a chore and essentially almost like the real world, and in that sense, no longer fun. The most realistic MMO Virtual RPG is forgotten about and over the next ten years the gaming industry regresses and devolves back to a simpler time with simple multiple choice options, quests, defeat monsters fare with clear objectives and defined goals. The main boy is a mainstream hype ling consumer of these simpleton regressed MMO games except one day he gets sold an older game from a old game shop from a cute shopkeeper girl telling him to try this game, it’s not the new game he’s looking for but it’s awesome, she plays it as well. Lured by her beauty, he buys the decade old game and reluctantly boots it up. Yep, boy just brought the most realistic MMO Virtual RPG, which is non-linear, unlimited endings and when characters die, they die forever with no clear objectives or goals, other than to live and figure out what you want to do. Oh boy. this boy fucks it up hard already by killing his best friend in the opening start of the game, it’s the equivalent of Cloud getting off the train in Midgar in FF7 and the first thing he does is kill Barrett. Oh boy. Can’t take that shit back. While the premise of this show is very interesting, the pacing and tone is a bit mixed, it’s not entirely sure if it’s a comedy, a drama or based on the ending, even a harem romance anime. With all these things combined, it’s just a bit of a mess with the first episode. Maybe a further watch is necessary but we’ll see, the animation is OK as well as the character designs. But we’ll see.

Fairy Ranmaru – Show for women about magical fairy boys that help girls solve their problems and such. Produced also by Shaft, you can tell that the Madoka team was employed here as it makes liberal use of patterns, collage like backgrounds and animations in a somewhat abstract and artsy fashion. Not bad, but also not for me. I admire the ambition. The first episode involves basically cyber-bullying and some girl getting bullied and slut shamed online from one of classmates because she is dating her ex-boyfriend and the such. The message is pretty good and I feel draws alot of inspiration from the previous season’s Wonder Egg Priority, which was great but not fully finished get until June when the last “special” episode will be aired and even older still, a less extreme wussy gay version of Jigoku Shoujo where the magical human beings deal divine retribution to the wicked and the evil to dem sinful and hateful humans. Man, they should reboot Jigoku Shoujo, I’d think we are due for some ruin. Either way, not for me.

Bakuten!! – Gay show about made up Olympic gymnastics boy team sport where they all dance and do a routine for points. I know this is partly real but I don’t think having team gymnastics with like four dudes all on the same mat/stage doing flips and shit like figure skating is a real thing. The animation and money they spend in this show in admirable but ultimately follows a similar gay path of boy who is not interested in teh sport, ends up becoming interested and joins the school team because he is inspired by their performance and such, introducing the rest of the beautiful bishonen boys and etc. Yea, not bad, but not for me, some women will like this.

Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou Desu – This is an interesting show, while it is technically an iseaki, it’s one of the more different unique ones that focus on a women, instead of a faggot boy. So yea, we got Sei, a relatively plain glasses office worker women, working away at night cause of course she is, when suddenly she is transported to another fantasy world. When she arrives she is greeted as a “Saint” but there appears to be a mistake, instead of just her, another younger girl has been summoned next to her, what’s up with this. Well, apparently the magic folk hoping to summon their new goddess to save their kingdom weren’t to optimist of summoning a “Saint”, so they had two rituals going on just in case, and both ended up being successful. Oh boy. Cue the douche hero yuusha king prince coming in and choosing his selected Saint to be by his side to save the kingdom, obviously the more pretty younger girl, effectively leaving our main girl as an extra. Yea, that sucks I guess. So for the next few months/weeks our main girl is just chilling at the castle trying to figure our her new world and what to do, now that the job of Saint has already been filled. She gets interested in potion making like the Harry Potter Snape route and ends up wanting to help/work at the potion school that makes healing potions for the general population and for the war effort. Some shit happens and apparently our Extra Saint is extremely good a making potions, so good that any potion she makes is 1.5 times it’s normal expected power and soon becomes able to make high grade quality healing potions, something only a handful of people in the kingdom can do. Lest to say, her efficiency in potion making becomes invaluable when hundreds of soldiers get injured and near death after battle. Only her 1.5 times potions and high grade healing potions are powerful enough to save the dying soliders, which she does. Thus begins the unsung tale/legend of the Real True “Saint” of the world, Master Potion Maker Sei. Yea, this is a pretty good show, while primarily targeted towards women, the show is well written that it is enjoyable by anyone. Good animation and decent designs, will probably try to watch more. Pretty good.

SD Gundam World Heroes – What do you get if you take classic chink ass dynasty warriors heroes like Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Liu Bei and others from the Three Kingdoms era and mix them with SD Gundam? Well, you get this shit obviously. The production and amount of time spent on this FULL SHOW, is far far greater than what it should be. Like, sunrise bandai spent so much on this 3d CG show that it puts most mecha shows action battle sequences to shame. What the fuck. I suppose this is kind of a weird attempt to cash in on China fans and whatnot but man, they spent too much money on this show and the saddest part about it is that I wouldn’t mind watching it honestly. Fuck. I am talking about 3d Cell shaded shit better than Gundam Unicorn and a level of detail and articulation that is obscene for SD Gundam, like seriously, look at this shit:

What you are seeing is the fully powered up Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam. Wow, looks like Brave Frontier character art. What the fuck lol. While I wouldn’t mind watching this shit, there’s too much good shit to watch and will have to pass. I am sure they will make lots of money and live on for eternity under the promised peach tree or some shit.

Tensura Nikki – Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken – Although i have officially dropped slime, I have to acknowledge the existence of this show because it’s basically slice of life chill slime days the anime, yea that’s right, this is the kind of show that fucking Overlord needed yesterday, back in like 2018 or some shit but never happened because they are retarded. Yes, this show is about nothing, and it’s wonderful for fans of slime, for once, no battle or enemy is here to destroy the world, just chilln’ with mah goblins and gobeta and lizardmen fools in the daily shit of the grind of working on building a boss city and civilization. Nope, no battle or lore here, just chill. Still not going to watch it but I appreciate that this show exists.

Alice in Deadly School – A weird kind of movie spin off that is only 45 minutes that apparently uses the same characters as Gekidol, one of the idol shows of recent memory, if I remember the one about the dead idol that couldn’t make it to the final idol contest and is a ghost or something. Yea, take those characters and put them in a school with Zombies attacking. Yes, this is all this is, all of the girls are kind of coupled together and at least one ends up being bitten/dies while the other tries to survive. There is no backstory as I am guess you are supposed to know the characters and history already. Weird. Not bad but weird. Probably shouldn’t have watched this as it’s not a show but whatever. Not the best use of my time.

Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou. – Interesting show about a office worker guy that ends up living with a high school girl runaway for mysterious implied wholesome reasons, which is something of the inherent twist since what the fuck, who in the world would do this? So like yea, our main boy is a office guy, he has the hots for his big boob boss, she invites him for dinner and he ends up telling her he likes her, but she declines him because she says she is already seeing someone. Saddened, he goes home but finds a cute girl sitting by a streetlamp just chilling, asks whats up, go home, the girl talks to him and basically tells him she is a runaway and needs somewhere to stay. The conversion goes on for a bit of banter but essentially leads to the girl offering herself to him for implied sex in exchange for a place to stay but he refuses, wow; nevertheless he wants to help her so takes her back to his apartment regardless. Oh boy, what the. Even while in the apartment she talks more to him and is all like, are you sure you don’t want to have sex? And reveals more or less indirectly that she had run away from home half a year ago and has survived by essentially whoring herself to different guys over the past 6 months in exchange for a place to stay. wow. The main boy is adamant however, that he just wants to help her, so yea, not interested in kids he says, only interested in his big boob boss that just rejected him. Sure pal, sure. Thus begins his new life of living with a beautiful high school girl runaway which everyone including his co-workers and friends think is his new girlfriend, but isn’t, but kinda is but not really, at least not yet. So yea, this show can go two ways, either the man is a god saint and he truly wants to just help the girl out or actual does like her but wants to make her a better person/improve her morals and groom her before he inevitable falls for her charms. Or, everything that she said was a lie and wasn’t whoring herself and whatnot, and reveals the real reason reason why she ran away. Who knows. The human story and mystery of “why” in this show is what drives this show and makes it interesting, and the very blunt reactions from his friends and co-workers to like “ehhh, are you sure she’s not your girlfriend” is like real talk level shit. The girl is cute, the guy is cool/admirable and the designs are good, will probably try to watch more of this. I want to know.

Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san – Trash show probably adapted from a 4koma about living the life as a geisha and or training to be a geisha. The show is broken up into little segments like a 4koma and is painfully slow moving and provides little to no comedic or chill value, waste of time. Couldn’t finish this full shit, started skimming 5 minutes in. No.

Yakunara Mug Cup mo – Another local hobby touristy bait show except promoting regional pottery and crafts with high school girls. I am normally all about this kind of show but for some reason this didn’t click with me, it’s slice of life but all of the characters are butt ugly in design. The characters voice and the general tone does not entice me either, bland, slow pacing, boring segments explaining pottery and creation, sentimental flashbacks of grandmas or mamas old pottery and shit. The pottery in the show doesn’t even look that good, rendered poorly with lacking detail. Waste. This show releases another 1.1 version to each episode with the actual real life voice actors in the show going around and looking at the actual town/place that the show is based on, doing pottery shit and whatnot, so cringe and staged/fake. Shit show, only for cup lovers.

Seven Knights Revolution – Eiyuu no Keishousha – The name of this show does not do me any favors. Yea, it’s some fantasy bullshit with some knights, heroes and some girls doing magical hero shit with about seven knights and I guess a revolution. The animation is ok but i couldn’t stand it anymore and kind of fast forwarded it after 5-10 minutes in. Nop. Forgetable Trash.

Cestvs – The Roman Fighter – This is a show about Cestvs, a roman fighter. It’s pretty self explanatory, he is like a gladiator, but he does not like to fight because he is fighting his friends. He does not want to beat and kill his friends in the Colosseum cause he is just a young boy, a young teenager. He was trained to battle but he does not cause stop fighting mentality. Some shit happens and he sees his rival, which is more pro than him, meets the emperor, who is also a kid like him, wat. Yea, cue strange Celtic Irish battle music like river-dance or lord of the dance which may or may not be appropriate for intense fight fights to the death. I don’t’ know who this show is for. I don’t know. Next.

Fumetsu no Anata e – Depending on how this show is conducted and ends, this could potentially be a new masterpiece in the making. Known as “To Your Eternity”, the episode starts with a scene of a white wolf walking in the storm, it struggles and it dies, according to the narrator, voiced by Golden Kamuy’s badass sniper Ogata, something else emerges out of the dead body of the wolf, a complete replica of the wolf, a clone, a duplicate, a copy of the original and it continues forward in the storm until it arrives at a seemingly deserted and abandoned town in the snow covered land. The wolf comes into contact with the original wolf’s owner, a boy that lives alone in the village, the village with no people. From then on the wolf, the creature that had took on the form of the wolf rather does nothing special and continues to live peacefully with the boy for days maybe months, until the boy decides he wants to search for the rest of the people in his town, so he begins to prepare for a journey out in the cold to find his people, and search for the reason why he was abandoned and left in the village. He ventures out and dreams of reuniting with his clan, his tribe his village people and telling them about all the stories of how he had lived up until now and how he had survived. His journey is long but sadly it comes to an end when he comes to the realization that everyone in his village is dead when he stumbles upon what remains of a travel caravan, left in the cold with tombstone rocks and rune stones saying that the path forward is futile. This revelation completely breaks the boy and all sense of hope and salvation are completely ruined and he breaks down into tears. He reluctantly does an about face an returns to his empty village but ends up getting injured on the way back. Oh no. While he makes it back to his village miraculously, his days are numbered due to his injury and eventually succumbs to them.  But before that, he speaks to his pet wolf, his only friend of his lost dreams and the wish that he would like to carry on and travel and meet new people and discover new things in distant lands. When he dies, the wolf also dies shortly after but emerging out of that body it transforms into the dead boy, now in the image of it’s new copy, in a way, to continue on the boy’s dreams. The creature, now in the form of the dead boy, walks outside of the hut and gazes at the world with his new form. It had taken him. Wow, this show. What an amazing narrative journey and incredible storytelling experience, the show could end right now already and it would be fine but as the preview eludes to, the clone boy thing does journey and finds people, but whether or not he continues in this same form or not, is not yet determined.  Top quality story show, journey’s excellent storytelling and good animation, great voice acting from Ogata. Top tier, now, just not they don’t fuck it up. Watch for sure. Take Him.

Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Comedy – Bait ass love comedy show as the name of this show implies about a boy that likes this girl at school but she doesn’t really like him or at least acknowledges him as a potential boyfriend, all the while he has his childhood friend who is totally like, I like you I can be your girlfriend you know, I really do like you for long time. But the faggot boy rejects her and using some big brain logic that I don’t fully comprehend, says some shit about getting revenge on the girl he liked cause she rejected him and so childhood friend goes along with it and suggests that she pretends to be his girlfriend in order to make the girl that rejected him become jealous because profit??? and to what end??? I dont’ know, make her dislike you more? For some reason the boy agrees with this and they begin to plan the revenge to get back at the girl that rejected him as a fake couple because I have no idea??? The basic premise of this show is that the childhood friend will not loose as it traditionally is the case in most times for harem love comedy shows but this show’s pacing is so off and about I honestly thought this was a sequel because the pacing is so confusing and bad, like I wasn’t introduced to any characters properly, not even the girl that the boy likes or the childhood friend. Decent character designs for girls but still shit, the boy is horrible. Fail. Next better stuff out there.

Lots of good shit, will probably try to follow these shows:
