Alright, today is the much hyped glacier day, the day in which we spend most of the day going to and doing sightseeing of a glacier in particular for us, the Stikine icecap. It’s going to be a long day on ship so let’s see how today goes.
After the failure scam of a breakfast/brunch called Palo yesterday, we decided to go back to basics and return home with the rest of the standard guests at Cabanos buffet for breakfast.
They have all sorts of eggs and shit, even eggs benefict, similar to what we had at Palo yesterday, all free without wait.
Standard selection of breakfast sausages and bacon, good shit.
They had special cinnamon Churros Mickey waffles today, these are special says my sister, they don’t always have this item all the time along with the normal items.
My plate of breakfast items that kinda resembles an english breakfast but not really. I ended getting another plate with more special mickey waffles and another eggs benedict/bacon, good shit. Why would i ever go to Palo when this free breakfast is so good? Good shit.
Heading outside now to the 9th floor to see some land again after so long. Day looking pretty good.
The time is around 9am I think and the reason why there is so many people here already is that that is when people have a chance to do character photographs now on top of the boat such as Mickey, minnie etc. We are also here for this too.
Proof of early morning boat camp existence.
Alot of the people in line are already wearing their merch that they brought from the shop for this Alaska tour. These two kids in front of us were interesting, the boy in the blue hoodie was carrying some wood thing with their family name on it for the cruise with a bunch of other characters already signing it. Guess he wants to get autographs too. But soon after one of the organizers came and said photos only for this session, no autographs and the boy got so sad, his older sister trying to console him. Hmm, serious business autographs are, I know.
After a longer than expected wait for the main boi, here is us with our photo of Mickey in boat fisherman gear, not bad. They allowed for us to do 2 difference poses, this thumbs up was our baseline which is good. They also had a professional photo person also taking photos so that you can go to the photo kisok and pay to have professional photos. In general yes the pro photos are better but the ones from our own photos are good enough most the time I think.
Proof of sky water existence.
Our landscape was slowly changing with more mountains and snow/ice around, nice view.
Lest to say, we spent more or less all morning lining up to get character photos like this above. This one above is Minne mouse, not bad. NPC wave this time for our baseline pose. The quality of these photos are questionable when the helper doesn’t want that the fuck they are doing with vertical photos for this. Why??
Lining up again, as soon as groups finish their photos you go to another part of the ship to line up for another character. This group of done up synced cosplay chinese women/girls were usually either behind or before us for each line, as well as some Japanese family with two kids.
Nice boat.
Our last photo of the morning was goofy, our second pose is what I’d like to call the 67 pose although for this instance we got our timing wrong. I am sure there is a proper on in my records, just that this one wasn’t it. Ahwell, you get the idea.
After a couple of hours in the cold taking photos of characters, my mom and sister decided to go and do different things on the boat. I think my sister went to make some crafts while my mom wanted to do landry or so. I went to this talk panel about some guy who’s lived in Alaska for a long time and wrote some books about his naturalist way of life living up here. Here he is telling a story of his friend who got mauled by a bear, he lived tho.
Closer zoom of old man alaskan storyteller, not bad.
Shilling some of the books he’s written. He’s apparently a passenger on this cruise too with his wife celebrating their 50th anniversary so that’s interesting. I suppose he worked on cruises as well giving guides and commentary was boats go through different areas in Alaska.
Anyways, it’s lunch time now and Cabanos buffet has it’s lunch open now, fuck yea, time to eat.
I don’t know what my sister or mom are doing, I message them through the disney cruise app to tell them to eat, they have beef brisket for lunch as an item so that’s like wow. While normal internet cost money on this boat for cell at sea, communication can be done to others/passengers via their own app, which is sorta like a planner/schedule app thing as well which you can also message people only within the cruise, it’s a bit like a interanet, closed online space only for passengers on this current cruise.
Oh boi, first round fill of solo dining of meat and more meat items, brisket, steak, pot pie, lobster pasta/mac and cheese chicken nuggs. All the perfect foods for a heavy ass lunch. I think I got another plate after this with just a bit more brisket or something, good shit. The brisket itself is a bit dry, it’s not bbq brisket that’s for sure but it’s sill passably good.
After finishing my solo meal I went out to the outside stage to see what was going on. It appears it was a sing along of the songs from Frozen. I mean glacier day is basically Frozen day, makes sense.
After meeting up with my mom and sister for lunch again at Cabanos for round two of buffet for me, my mom went off to rest in our room again and my sister and I went to do some triva game that this fake british feel pub.
In addition to kids events on the ship they also offer some more mature games and activities like triva, like particular one was name that movie, based on off question, out of 20. If your group wins in the session you get a plastic medal which is disney branded and says “Winner” on it, kinda jokes, there are like 5-6 different kinds. Unfortunately for us, we did not win, too bad but we could have maybe. Still fun tho.
My sister had to do some crafts again so I went out to the 4th deck and just hung around for like an hour or so and watched the scenery go from green to more colder and rockey/snowy. Cool.
Looks like we are getting closer to the glacier, first spot of this baby iceberg here not bad.
The landscape is just beautiful in Alaska, so many rocky mountains and green trees and shit, and the water looking so clean and pure.
Some of these photos I get are like postcard worthy, nice snow on the top of this mountains man, good shit.
The weather fluctuates alot so do the colors of the area, now there is more green and shit due to trees, cool.
Time to do more triva with my sister a the same british pub, this time it was generic questions, we got owned badly as it can be seen. Some group got like 18/20 I think or near perfect, damn, people here just too big brain, just want to win those limited winner medals.
Nice boat and nice waters and everything really. As we get closer there are more frequently random mini ice floating around.
We are almost there at the glacier and my mom came outside too to see what’s going on and how far we are still. Shit’s looking good, almost there to the glacier.
And here it is from a distance, the Stikine icecap glacier. Wow, so blue so ice, so cool. Postcard worthy.
Other things are also going around like this mini waterfall in the area too, which has some nice looking rock formations nice.
We went on the other side of the boat and my sister finished her craft so we were all there to provide proof of existence of glacier day ice.
Even closer still view, wow, looks amazing. It’s kinda hard to see but there is a tiny boat right in front of the glacier, it’s from our ship where people can pay more money for a super up close and personal view to the glacier, wow, those ice walls are huge.
We all went up to the 9th floor top deck to get a better clearer view. Some cruise employee asked if we wanted a photo so we said sure. Here is her work, not bad you know.
We didn’t realize but we kinda cut in for the character mascot photographs that were going on in the afternoon, this line was for someone think again but we backed off.
In the end however, we did en up getting and waiting for another character photograph together, this time of donald. After our initial thumbs or hand poses, we did our special pose, the “67” pose, the camera guy was like laughing and donald was gesturing to his head, I don’t know what your talking about? lol shit Donald doesn’t know 67 so he didn’t know how to match our poses, look at this poor duck struck with confusion and what the fuck are these guys doing feel lol. Jokes. Pro cameraman tried to explain but could only do so much.
Few more pictures of the area because it’s so beautiful landscape wow.
One last photo of the glacier icecap because it’s so cool. Photograph postcard shit right here automatically.
We went back down and got some icecream, they have special flavours everyday, this here is banana and blueberry I think. It was ok but the combination was a bit weird, still ate it tho.
After resting a bit in our cabin for a bit, we noticed that we started moving again, guess it’s time to make our way out back from the glacier. It was cool. These waves are cool too.
Trying to kill some time before our rotational dining, we try out another triva game, this time for 80’s music where they play the music. Let’s just say that our three combined brains failed hard, even our mom. Got like 10 out of 40 possible points, uhh lol. It’s really hard and only old ass boomer bitches would know these songs. Only my sister and myself got some right due to them being meme songs like Africa and Never gonna give you up by rick astly lol. I have a photo of the score but forgot to post, ahwell all in good fun.
Our rotational dining today takes is back to Triton’s but with a special Frozen themed menu, like I said, quite litearlly glacier day is Frozen day. Look at this special menu shit lol.
Bread with some different spreads, I can’t remember but in the end butter was still the best.
Proof of menu again Frozen edition unchanged hidden.
Gangster shaky blurry photos because we are shook due to the glacier ice, too cool.
The illustration they use for Frozen Anna and Elsa are quite good, I think they used this for their official storybook or animation retelling of the movie in other media, not 3dcg, not bad.
Starter pierogies were ok, nothing special in my opinion.
I forgot what this was but my sister had it I think, egg/cheese tartlet I think?
I think Tritons is kinda shit decor and gimmick compared to other restaurants. Due to rotational dining your seat is always going to be the same, for us it’s table 90. Notice that the table besides us is supposed to be two girls who dressed as princesses yesterday, today there are late, probably doing some kids activities. They did end up coming by it was quite a bit later. Hmm..
I ordered some fancy juice drink called frozen castle or some shit, I can’t remember but it was just like pinapple, mango, guavo, and passionfruit, oranage juice I think. $7 kinda shit, no alcohol, kinda scam and didn’t even taste that good but whatever, tried.
Some soup that my mom and sister got, I forgot what this was.
Had some glavlox salmon and apple chips not bad but nothing special.
Some salad I got with walnuts, lingonberries and some other shit, pretty good shit actually.
Lobster ravioli, pretty solid good.
Some veggie tart that my sister got, it was alright. All of these vegan/veg dishes are actually not bad, if I can vegan I would be pleased.
Mom got some base ass steak and baked potato. This dish always exists on all menus as a backup for people who don’t want to try anything different, literally meat and potatoes.
Sister any myself also got this honey glazed salmon, pretty solid overall but I wished the flavors were a bit strong, still good tho
Some butter cake that was recommended, it was ok. I’ve had better desserts.
Apple cake my sister had, she says she can make this. I believe it, it tastes very similar to something she made before.
I decided to try this Elsa sundae which features chocolate mint icecream ando other sugar shit. Definitely for kids and way to sweet, had a few scoops and was like yea, I can’t finish this. Nope. Overall the Frozen themed meal was ok, pretty good. I like themes, just wish the venue was better, Tritons is shit, too dark and no gimmick like other restaurnts, but still, the meal itself was solid despite not liking several of the things I ordered, my choice tho.
When we went back to our room the animal is now a Rhino I think, cool.
Decided to watch Toy Story 5 in one of the theatres on the boat. Cool.
There was hardly anyone in the theatre but still a few small groups which is ok. I haven’t seen Toy Story 4 but Story Story 5 is alright, it’s mainly focused on Jessie and trying to overcome/resolve some of her past issues/trauma of being abandoned as a toy and trying to address our currently generation of kids don’t play with toys anymore but with Ipads or “LillyPads” tech devices instead and the harm that comes with it with social media to young kids/social friend group interactions. It’s worth a watch but I feel it was missing something and some parts feel forced/add nothing just for ex machina purposes building up. My sister says 4 is the worst and fucked everything up from what a perfect ending 3 was and 5 tries to fix those issues but yea, not sure.
All in all today was quite a busy day, even though we were still on the board, lots of things to do and see. Tomorrow is our first off shore excusion to Skagway so let’s see how that goes. I don’t think I can do double posting so I may have to lag behind a day or two or untill the trip is fully over for the full travel photolog is done. It’s not ideal and how I want it but man, there is just no time and the interest is spotty at best. It no shit took over an hour to upload all the photos in this post due to how slow internet at sea is. But we’ll see.
