Summer Trip 2026 – Day 9

Today we are getting off the boat, it is our off boarding day and return back to Vancouver. By the time we woke up we were already in Vancouver port. Looks like all there is to do today is get off and do some shit in Vancouver for the rest of the day, let’s see how today went then.

Last night we successfully packed all our luggage before 10pm for it to be unloaded off the boat today, but it looks like some people failed to do so and or preferred to lug around their luggage themselves, hm.

Docked in Vancouver harbor looks good. Everyone on the boat is supposed to have a breakfast before they get off the boat, this is mainly to help stagger exiting and preventing people from zerg rushing exiting in the morning.

We were kinda early for our breakfast time so we just waited on the fourth deck, to see what was going on. We could see the dock guys loading new food and supplies for the next cruise hmm interesting.

This is in Canada place, where normally you see boats coming into port from the outside, today, we are on the boat.

Lots of new cargo and shit being loaded and they have security checking shit with a dog to inspect shit for bombs or drugs or whatever, interesting.

Unloading luggage from the boat is interesting, they have these entire blocks where people just stack them and these little carts pick up and drop shit everywhere.

It was time for our last breakfast and it was as the last place you dined yesterday, which was Animators palete, ok cool.

Proof of non-buffet breakfast existence, not Palo scam edition.

The morning breakfast is quite literally the same shit you get from the Cabanos breakfast buffet except served to you in individual plates and less hmm.

Proof of final breakfast boat existence. Note that all throughout the cruise our table number was exactly the same, table 90 for all restaurants, meaning that every time you sat at a place you would have the same neighbors dining with you or beside you etc. We specifically requested to dine on our own table privately but if you didn’t’ care, you might actually be sat with a group of randos at a larger communal table, which is probably not a good thing if you end up hating them.

Base fruit and coffee.

Eggs for the road, I didn’t ask for sausage just bacon but they gave it anyway, sure? Staff don’t care anymore lol we are on our way out anyway, tips already paid.

Oatmeal with maple syrup, pecans and brown sugar, noice.

Once the announcement ran that our goofy tag people and others were ready to get off the ship, most people left. We took our time however so yea, still no rush since people have their luggage around.

I am not sure if they went it order but I assume so. I would assume that earlier in the morning this would show less tags. I am not sure why they chose these particular characters for the tags, but I guess maybe easy to recognize? Hmm.

On our way out, with nice banners to ‘see you real soon’ with the premise that many of these visitors are repeat Disney cruisers, which is probably true actually.

Once at the boat terminal, gotta just go to the area where you allocated Disney character tag banner is I guess to get your shit.

For instance this is Tinkerbell. Kinda different from that other illustration on that frame poster I saw on the boat yesterday huh.

Finally off boat and luggage got, we have returned.

We are staying another night in Vancouver before heading back home to Toronto and we picked the same hotel that we had at the start of this trip. Just a short walk away. The traffic people managing this area are quite good especially when a new boat offloads I think.

Back at the EXchange hotel just a short walk from the port, really great hotel location wise but we are way too early to check-in so left our bags with the lobby for when our room would be ready. For the rest of the day we could do anything but we planned to go to Granville island again, because people had missions and unfinished things to buy since our last trip to Vancouver last year.

After a pretty quick uber ride we have returned to Granville Island, welcome back, it’s been about a year again.

There was a few stores and places we didn’t check out because we thought they were just toy stores or for kids but there is some interesting stuff too, like this big mini figure behind bars.

And of course some blind box stores with posters for honkai starrail stuff.

Crane games and other shit too, but bootleg china shit so whatever.

It’s only been a year and it seems that alot of the gift shops in Vancouver have new goods, like these keychain magnet things, probably made because of the world cup this year, they look not bad.

My sister went again to this same native goods store from last year and brought even more shit, shit that she regretted not buying and some new stuff not seen before. The regret has been resolved.

That jewelry store that has anime posters and keychains stuff like it’s a convention is still around, noice, keep on keeping on.

Proof of some orca thing in Granville island.

Good donut shop Lees is still doing good, didn’t buy any right now but my sister did. Nice. We will pick some up at the airport so yea, no point getting now unless you want fresh fresh.

The food area in Granville is really good just like last year, every kind of food you can get really. I had brought some smoked salmon at this Longliner Seafoods last year to take home, thinking it was the same as the candied salmon bites I had, they were not the same, not even close and was very disappointing, so not again. Didn’t feel like the good fresh candied salmon today so didn’t buy any here to eat from them, ah well.

My sister went brought some of these special Namaimo bars for gifts for her friends. She was going to buy some last year but we said just wait, they would have them at the airport. They did not have them at the airport at all. Opps. Well, another regret has now been resolved.

For lunch I decided to order some currywurst sausage and fries at that polish/german place, I forgot to take a photo of the place but last years photos I did, so yea. Overall pretty solid sausage but I wish there was more curry sauce on them.

My mom brought from the same place except with pierogies and sausage and kraut. It was good she said, we shared because it’s a lot of food and such. I think this was $19 while mine was $16, hm I think this combo is better value if you like mini pierogies.

My sister got this french onion soup with puff pastries from that same shop as year year. She says it was good shit.

And I did so as well, got the salmon chowder instead.

Pretty good soup i’d say, works great with the puff pastry, feels a bit weird to be eating hot soup when it’s so hot hotside but whatever. It was good shit.

My mom got some fried osyeters or something, I am not sure where but here it is. I think it’s supposed to be $4 for 1 fried oyster but since it was small they gave her 2 instead, hm ok.

The shop where we got our pies from, pretty good shit, would recommend if ever visiting this place for lunch.

Pretty busy for a Monday really, I suppose all these people are here from the cruise or about to join a cruise maybe. Granville is pretty peak tourist area so yea, probably all visitors.

Oh yea boi, same photo of last year behind the bridge, gotta do what we gotta do if we are here again.

There were some parts of Granville we didn’t really explore that well, this is one area. Had some ice cream shops and some edgelord dragon good store and leather boots shop. Hm, jokes statue out there tho.

I am not sure what this statue is about but yea, right beside it was a bench that was commemoration/remembrance piece of 2025’s Lapu Lapu Day car massacre that killed 11 people at some Filipino street festival; I am not sure why it’s here at Granville island as this was not the place of the attack so who knows, I commend them for having something up to commemorate so soon tho. Still dunno why it’s here?

Decided to get some of that nice JJ Bean office again, this time a iced americano, nice. Around this time we got a text message that our room in the hotel was ready so we decided to make our way out, now that all regrets and missions have been fulfilled.

Farewell Granville island sign again 2026 edition, the I didn’t think I would be back here so soon version but you never know if you have accumulated regret for not buying things redux return.

Lots of boats man, don’t think I can live on one like some people say they could.

Return to our hotel now with room keys and ready.

Open the door and what is this? lol a unique hallway and chairs? This wasn’t like last year or our earlier stay lol.

Once you go in however, it’s about the same layout, but somehow better.

The room itself seems bigger and more renovated, with the clothes racks with lights and a sink, wow a sink and fridge. We are dumb so we didn’t know how to turn off the lights in the clothes rack thing and had someone come up to show us. They look like buttons but you have to turn them to turn them off and on, wow, poor confusing designs. Ah-well. We were pretty tired so we literally just had a nap for like 3 hours after this, traveling is so tiring man.

As we awoke from our long nap, it was time for our final dinner of our trip, and as per new tradition. it’s gotta be Korean/Japanese BBQ, so let’s see where we are going to go now this evening.

After a short 10 min walk from our hotel we are here, the Shabusen Yakiniku all you can eat BBQ restaurant, ah yea boi. My sister reserved ahead of time before we went on the boat so we already had reservations, noice, no waiting.

The restaurant itself is on the second floor of the building so that’s cool, it vague reminds me of the experience going to higher level floors for food in Japan, which is a nice thing.

Unlike Gyukaku last year, this place seems a bit more casual in it’s approach and decor, as it’s also a proper all you can eat place, which is great. The patrons here are also of mixed variety too, which is a nice sign.

Very homely indeed, white folks having a good time, and Asian folks in the background, shortly after we were seated a group of Japanese people were also seated right beside us, they were speaking Japanese so I guess this place is real enough for them too.

Proof of BBQ existence, we made it to the final feast again, yay.

All you can eat approval proof of existence, yes.

This place has not just BBQ but also sushi and fried items. The price is fairly affordable, at only $42 on weekdays, that’s pretty cheap man compared to places at home Toronto. Although their menu of items for grilled meat is somewhat small hm.

Gotta get some of that salad and rice miso soup you know. Tradition.

Their nigiri sushi was actually very very good, far better than the sushi that we usually get in some all you can eat places. Their rice was excellently vinegared and the fish/topping was well formed, they even had yellowtail for no extra cost, that’s like premium fish man wow. My sister said their tamago was very good too, probably made in house, not premade shit. We were sitting near the sushi station in the kitchen where they were making this and I think the people making sushi were Japanese, I heard them, noice.

Not unexpectedly, their salmon sashimi was also really good and fresh, but their tuna unfortunately was not good, typical frozen tuna and not the good cuts either, a bit watery. Ah well can’t win all the time.

Then our meats came, beef, chicken and beef short ribs to start off with.

My sister ordered some hand rolls too, I can’t remember what they were since she ate them pretty quick. She mistakenly ordered just 1 roll for a spicy salmon roll too, lol so jokes, normally it comes in at least 4 pieces, nice you can just get 1 piece. The roll what not that great, cucumber heavy even tho it was spicy salmon.

I warned them about fried scallops but my sister and mom wouldn’t listen, rejoice in the glory of fake ass fried scallops, forever again once more. The fried chicken wings were supposed to be ‘chicken karaage’ errr I am not sure if they made a mistake or just being ghetto cheap but sure but this is not what I was expecting for ‘karaage’, whatever.

Fried veg tempura and fried calamari my sister and mom ordered, they said it was ok. I didn’t have any, I had enough calamari on the boat the other day.

Grilling that meat nicely, once again chicken takes the longest cause it’s so thick but it was very good and juicy. The beef was thin and nicely marinated, so was the pork and beef short ribs. I also ordered some lamb which was also quite good too, not gamy at all. Once thing however is that this place does not have any kind of dipping sauce for your meat, no bbq sauce or otherwise which is not what i’m used too but I suppose it’s fine since all the meat is well marinated already, but yea just a thing I found interesting.

One last order of sushi and rolls, additional meat orders not shown but you get the idea. This place does not have a dessert menu so I suppose it focuses on the core items, although in my opinion they offered too much fried items, and they weren’t even that great, it feels like they just added them to the menu because people were asking for fried items so they did, sure I guess. Their meat quality is good and so is the marinade used and the sushi is especially good which is a bit surprising, all very good shit. On our way out you have to pay at the front, no bills taken to the table, wow, like Japanese style. I heard some of the waiters speak Chinese tho, so it seems this restaurant is a mixed establishment, they hire anyone who looks Asian I guess lol but at least the people making the sushi were Japanese tho. Overall a very good BBQ yakiniku restaurant with no frills or whatsoever and very well priced affordable, no dessert tho but that’s ok. 8.5, very good the only thing I wish they had were more meat cuts or variety of meat to order, other places are more discriminating in their cuts of meat, this place is just ‘beef’, ”pork’, ‘chicken’ ‘beef ribs’ without any frills and a 90 min time limit which I wish they could extend a bit more to 2h instead but still fine.

Due to the lack of dessert, my sister and I continued to be fat asses and went back to the gelato place we had the first time we came here at the beginning of the trip.

Some time has passed since we were here last, what’s the special flavor today?

Single scoop this time but I got the Berry Blast limited flavor while she got some chocolate thing, I can’t be future which one but it’s chocolate. Yea, both pretty good shit. I liked my berry flavor more than the one I had the first time with double scoops.

And with that ends our disembarkment day and return to Vancouver for some Granville island revenge. Sure. We fly back tomorrow morning so there’s not much to cover other than merch and other stuff I brought but that’s always cool to see and final thoughts overall on this summer trip in the next post.
